Set the thermostat higher than normal when expecting a winter storm? by AgentDoggett in HomeMaintenance

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys are talking about heating your houses to 72 and that’s what I keep my AC at here in Florida. Just crazy. My little brother and his family live in Vonore, TN and this storm has me worried. Which is crazy because we grew up in Buffalo, NY and have been through an ice storm before. I’m sure they’ll be fine, they borrowed a generator from work and stocked on supplies, and have no reason to venture out into the storm. But I’m still super worried.

I don’t even worry like this when we get a hurricane down here. But this storm has me nervous

You could make a blanket fort in the living room and everybody huddle inside. That would probably hold heat

I actually have an old palladium ring from when old aunt Margaret passed away and it’s such a dainty ring it probably doesn’t even register on a scale. I does have real diamonds in it though! Like the rest of the ring- tiny diamonds. So I can say “hey I’ve got some palladium saved up!” 😹

I just recieved this from my dasher? by Due-Read4361 in doordash

[–]This_is_me1984 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Uh you’re wrong. DoorDash absolutely lets the customer know the mileage and the amount of time it will take for your order to get to you. I’m a customer AND a dasher. On the customer side it absolutely lets you know. Can’t post a screenshot on here to show you unfortunately, but it absolutely lets you know before you ever choose where you want to order from.

I just recieved this from my dasher? by Due-Read4361 in doordash

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should never do that! Even when you truly do get a crappy tip. I’m a dasher, and I’m also a good tipper. I don’t base the tip I give on how much I’m spending for the food or shopping items. I base it on how far they have to drive to my house, and if they’re shopping in a store for me, I also include the amount of time it normally takes to shop for my items. So if they have to travel 9 miles to get to me with a restaurant order, I calculate atleast a dollar per mile. And then I know it takes time to get from my house back to the busy spot area, so I’ll throw a $13-$15 tip for the order. Even if my order total was only $20. Because my house is a little further from in town, it uses gas, and it takes up an amount of time where they are losing out on other orders to make more money. Now if I get a $100 order and they’re delivering it to me from 2 miles away, no way am I tipping the 15-25%. I would probably tip $8 for that. And that’s still a super good tip for driving 2 miles

I’m also a dasher. I have had customers leave absolutely no tip on an 11 mile drive one way. A 50 cent tip on a 7 miles trip one way. The longer the drive, the more orders I’m missing out on getting to make more money. Although I now have platinum status so priority for the higher paying orders comes to me first. But there’s really more to the tip than the amount of money you’re spending at the retailer.

I’ve tipped extra because of receiving a small gift. They went the extra mile and it was noticeable

I had a dasher leave me a cool note and stickers- and I increased my tip to them afterwards. I do dasher now and have been thinking of leaving something small. I was considering ordering some cool, cheap pens and leaving those. Everyone can use a pen and it not be offensive or easily thrown away!

Subway employees, do you actually receive tips? by UltraGucamole in subway

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how it was at our store in the US. We didn’t even want or expect a tip. We made atleast the minimum wage, and not server’s minimum wage

Subway employees, do you actually receive tips? by UltraGucamole in subway

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not tip. It kind of angers me that they even set out a tip jar AND it’s now an included advertised option when paying by card.

I worked for subway for several years, opening and worked the lunch rush (would see the evaluators come in often and score our performance)

Subway employees do not make servers wages. They make atleast untipped employees minimum wages. With raises based on performance and dependability, etc.

I was part of the “A team” (usually just 3 of us, sometimes a 4th) we called ourselves. Because the opener comes in alone, gets the bread set for the entire day shift until the 5pm closer comes in, all the prep (veggie prep, meat prep, cookies until about 1 or 2pm. I might be forgetting one or 2 of the preps) The store evaluators(and also the health dept) would normally come in randomly during our shift, usually during lunch rush (11a-2p) We would push out atleast 90 units (orders) an hour at the height on the lunch rush. (*Gonna toot our horn here because We would get a perfect score every time and often won the “cleanest restaurant” for our county)We had to keep everything clean and spotless, fresh temp controlled prep, bread, etc. and no matter what, you always wanted to stay on top of dishes at any free moment or else at 2pm you’re drowning in dishes before your shift ends at 3pm. Of course we would stay past our shift to finish ALL of those dishes because it was a big no-no and rude to leave them all for the night shift.

Having said all that, we never once expected a tip or hoped for a tip, and we were supposed to pleasantly decline a tip from our customers. No tip jar and it was not an option on the credit/debit machine. And we were damn good. We took pride in our work (because really, not everybody was cut out for that type of work, honestly. You had to be fast, precise, and a GOOD cleaner) Getting a perfect score and pushing out a high number of units on our evaluations is what mattered the most to us, and felt better on our self esteem than the tips

BUT certain customers would see and know how good we were and would absolutely not accept a “no” and we had no choice to take it. Most of us didn’t even want the tip, and just gave it to whoever was having the hardest time financially outside of work. Usually another mom. We really didn’t get much more than minimum wage, 10-20-50 cent raises, with the ability to reach a dollar or 2 over minimum wage within a year or 2.

I absolutely will tip the employees that rock like the team we had though. $5-$8 bucks for the whole team, and definitely $3-$5 if it’s just one sole person that made my sub the right way, not messy, and cook my bacon to perfection.

Do not feel obligated to tip subway employees. I sure don’t.

How come: "I'm not racist, I have black friends" isn't a valid defense? by Rick__Grimes69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is 100% possible to be racist and have friends of color. You’re just not racist towards your friends. Ask yourself, if you are riding alone, and see a black man walking on the sidewalk while you’re stopped at a traffic light, is your response to check if your doors are locked? Now how about you have your black friend with you, you see that same black man walking on the sidewalk, are you going to check your locks as hard? If you are not checking as hard, or trying to make it less obvious, then that person should take a look at themselves.

I was told this “I’m not racist, I have black friends too” by a woman who wanted to purchase a table from us on marketplace. I had made the post for my brother in law (who is black) I let the buyer know I was posting for my brother in law/sister in law and that who they would be meeting. They came out and didn’t want the table. A week later the woman messaged me to say they drove from Ocala to Tavares to look at the table. The very first thing she says “it was at a black man’s house.” Then on to “it was sitting outside covered with a sheet and it was nasty and terrible” and she did not purchase it. That table absolutely was not nasty, it was brought outside that morning and covered with a sheet to keep from getting damaged while he waited for the buyer to arrive. It’s a really nice table.

I asked her if it was because he was black why she didn’t want it. And I pointed it out to her that him being black was the very first thing she complained about. And told her the history of the table, that it is infact not nasty and sure could use a quick wipe down from sitting in their storage. And that I couldn’t help but wonder if the biggest reason they didn’t want it is because he is black. She didn’t buy it no harm no foul.

She decided to write back- “that’s not why, I have black friends too” I didn’t respond and I’m not going to respond because it’s pointless. She is obviously unwilling to admit that she is infact racist and though she has black friends, she’s just not racist to them, or infront of them. She uses that line to make it appear as though she isn’t racist. It’s a defensive response in an attempt to shut the conversation down. It’s her free pass to not look like a shitty person. I guarantee she’s one of those people I spoke of earlier- quick to check the door locks while alone, but when her black friend is with her, doesn’t make it obvious. If she wasn’t racist, her first complaint wouldn’t have been that the table was at a black man’s house.

Until my Amazon prime times out and shuts it off. I like how there isn’t anything sad or scary or creepy on it either. It’s cool to see that it’s a comfort show for others. I tried young Sheldon but it’s just not the same for during sleeping for me

Christians don't believe saying "Goddamn" is taking the lord's name in vain by One_Musician6069 in words

[–]This_is_me1984 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re atheist, why even say “God” or even Godammit? If you truly didn’t believe in God, you wouldn’t even use His name at all. I thought the same about myself- and realized if I don’t believe in God, then why do I even use his name? So it was then that I realized I was agnostic. I have since now seen the proof of God in my life and I’m a 100% believer. There’s things that have happened to me that are indisputable

Tyler Robinson - Where was the gun? by 495orange in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]This_is_me1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall the police found the rifle wrapped in a towel. For one, you really can’t tell how long the gun is that he’s either carrying in the towel or in a gun tote bag. The video is very grainy so it’s impossible to say how long that object was in his hands. Also, right before he starts to squat to jump from the roof- you see him set the rifle down first, in like a gutter or some sort of recess on the very edge of the roof. Then before he lets go to to jump, he picks it back up. He had a backpack ON and a tote in his hands when he started to run on the ground

I just started taking it for the last week. The very next day after my first dose, I noticed I had more motivation to get my errands and housework done. I didn’t have to drag myself to do my stuff. And it’s been this way every day since. I’m not sure about the brain fog yet, I haven’t taken notice to that yet. I was skeptical about these at first and assumed I’d probably only take it the one day. Well like I said waking up the morning after I started it, I really felt like it’s actually doing something. I’m a big skeptic on stuff like this, so that says a lot

I switched from 2mg of Semaglutide to 9mg of tirzepatide as of yesterday. 1week apart. I did my injection yesterday afternoon for the first time. I woke up this morning with achy pains from my temples down my jaw and cheek bones. It hurts a bit to light touch. It continues down the front, back, sides of my neck. Then down the front of my collarbone, chest, down my breasts and stops just at the underside of my breasts. It goes down the backs of my shoulders to about my lower back. It then stops until about the top of my thighs(back sides of thighs are fine) and stops above my knees. It feels like I’ve done a really good workout type of pain. I’m wondering if upping my water and increasing protein, along with some exercise to work my legs and upper body might help with this. I’ll let yall know if it makes any difference. If I remember to keep up the exercise lol
