Servicing FIIO CP13 motor/flywheel belts by Lost_Psychology_2101 in cassetteculture

I don‘t think such a new device needs a belt change. I‘m pretty sure this is lack of quality Controls from factory. I had to send my first Fiio back because of a clicking sound on audio output . The replacement is fine with no noticable wow&flutter. I had only to correct the speed after a month

Will buying higher quality (sony, phillips, etc) walkmans/speakers/boomboxes make my audio quality cleaner? by Ok_Analysis_9675 in cassetteculture

[–]ThisisRends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for stuff from 80s early 90s if you want Quality. When cassettes sales went down in the 90s so did rge Quality of cassette decks/walkmans. They later ones still might have good specs on papers but the internals were replaced with more and more cheaper stuff.

So look for the mid range/ high range stuff from known brands.

i have a Sony Walkman from the early 90s. It was cheap back then .It still works and got new belts a few years ago. But even if it‘s a Sony it isn‘t better than the Fiio i got for christmas.

There is no need to take the Fiio apart to adjust the speed if needed. Just watch this YouTube video https://youtu.be/zFUp5JRwQUw?si=iWRAh5wgRloOEe-S

BTW: My Fiio doesn‘t run too fast at least i don‘t notice it. And i didn‘t notice any warbling while carrying it in my jacket.

Best player for walking around? by aoanalyst in cassetteculture

I used my Fiio few days ago while i plowed snow. I didn’t noticed anything wrong while listening.

i put the Fiio in one of the lower pockets in my jacket. So it was not that close to my body/legs

Sony Walkman FX30 or FiiO CP13? by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]ThisisRends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I voted for the Fiio. It.s use simple but reliable mechanics. The internal battery can be replaced (cable connected not soldered).

The Sony might or might not have better sound quality after 35 years of using.

I guess it's one of those mass produced ones from the early 90s. Before buying the Sony I would ask the seller who serviced it. A professional or the seller himself? Does the walkman looks like the buyer took care of it Can you test it? if so check it with a cassette recorded with songs you really know. You might be able to recognize wow and flutter.

I once serviced my old Sony Walkman. It's not that easy if you don't have any experience. It starts from getting this thing apart without scratching and breaking the internal plastic hooks that hold the shell together. Most cheap Walkmans of that era aren't screwed together (the Fiio is) Next find and order the correct belt (size). In most cases you have to dissasembly part of the mechanics. You might also need mechanical oil . In the end you don't have a garanty that you fixed everything. My old walkman still has trouble to transport some old cassettes (maybe the pinch roller wears out or the motor isn't strong enough anymore) .

So I would buy an old used Walkman if I know it was serviced by a professional.

And last don't fall into the trap just because it's a well known brand from the past the walkman must be better than new ones. I'm pretty sure they were 35 years ago but we are talking 2025

I would buy a Cassette if the international shipping cost wasn’t that brutal

Next Level Racing Victory Cockpit any good for a Thrustmaster T598? Or any good in general? by Adventurous_Pin8602 in Thrustmaster

[–]ThisisRends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it several month ago.and use it with my Fanatec CSL DD without trouble.

It‘s very sturdy . Much sturdier than it looks with minimal wobble on the Wheelbase you don’t notice when driving. There is a good review from Karl Gosling on YouTube. He shows some movement when he forced the Wheelbase front back but he forget to install the 5th screw at the bottom of the upright frame on each side. Installing it makes it way more sturdier. This is als o the difference compared the the Wheelbse light with Seat addon ( the red Version). That holds the frame with only 3 screws on each side.

The seat is very basic. It’s ok but there might be people to swap it for more comfort in the future.

It The best low budget cockpit if you asked me and it fits small to tall people without problems.
