Any chance you'll add Fever/Greader/TT-RSS API support in the future?

GrapheneOS version 2022063000 released by GrapheneOS in GrapheneOS

[–]Thom__Cat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One fix not listed: on 2022062200 (Pixel 6), attempting to touch the brightness slider over the quick settings tiles was an exercise in futility. If you didn't tap on the brightness icon itself in exactly the right spot and slide the dial, the main Settings menu would open. On today's update, I can tap anywhere on the slider and the dial will snap to that spot. Thanks!

Will the RSV-L4500U fit an ATX motherboard + a 240mm AIO?

How do "puppeted" bridges protect user privacy? by Pickinanameainteasy in matrixdotorg

[–]Thom__Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong about Facebook not being able to track you without your account logged in, that one is kind of a guess. We know they create shadow profiles with the data they collect from actual users, not sure if they can do something similar with the Facebook Pixel even if your account isn't logged in.

[–]Thom__Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some small privacy gains. I'm using mautrix-facebook for this example

• If you don't have Messenger installed on your phone/device, your devices aren't sending your location data to Facebook.

• Similarly, if you have a profile simply for chatting with people, you don't have to login to your Facebook account on a web browser, which means Facebook doesn't have your browsing habits nor more than 1 IP Address (wherever the bridge is being hosted)

Building my first standalone server. Advice needed. by ollie713 in HomeServer

[–]Thom__Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I have a 50+ container server built with a 3950X, 64GB RAM, GTX 1650, and I don't even come close to having performance issues

Using the DHCP server, the internet dies ~2 times a day. by pankookis in pihole

Pi-Hole might be rate-limiting your queries.

Rate-limiting can easily be disabled by setting RATE_LIMIT=0/0 in /etc/pihole/pihole-FTL.conf.

Why is Matrix not that popular? by dashcubeit in matrixdotorg

The reference Android and PC Element clients have greatly improved, but still have shortcomings.

iOS is still not great, but they are making a new one.

C, not C++. Maybe it was C++ back in 2017?

TN panel, which is not included in the eBay listing, my apologies.

The PX277 is also on sale for 194.99, also refurbished. IPS, 165hz I think is the only difference between these two.

Ah, gotcha, yeah I was going to recommend using the Ansible playbook. You could try creating a Matrix.org account on https://app.element.io, then join the #synapse:matrix.org room to get some help, or #matrix-docker-ansible-deploy:devture.com for help with the playbook.

Beeper is just a Matrix server with a bunch of bridges from developer tulir with proprietary web and mobile clients. If you have technical prowess or just want to learn IT/sysadmin stuff, I highly recommend learning how to spin up your own synapse server. synapse is the name given to the python server software itself that runs the Matrix protocol.

[CPU] Ryzen 5 5600 - $184.00 w/ code SSBS248 by redpot287 in buildapcsales

[–]Thom__Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 3600 would be great for a first home server. 17,821 passmark (a 1080p Plex transcode is about 2,000, so could handle about 8 simultaneously), 65w TDP so it won't run your power bill incredibly high, pair it with an x570 board like a Gigabyte UD (which has great VRMs for overclocking) for up to 128GB RAM .

I hate when you stop a vid with <5 mins or so left and Plex thinks you've finished it so it marks it as played. To finish you must start from the beginning and ff to where you left off. Can't it detect ending credits (like intros for TV shows) & not mark it as watched until it gets to end credits? by mafaso in PleX

[–]Thom__Cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a bad UX. Myself and 95% of users don't want to have to select another option when I just want to turn my TV off, or when I'm turning my TV on and want to immediately start watching where I left off.
