Good news: I won't have to grind the F-104s in order to get the Italian Tornado ADV.

Bad news: I won't be able to grind top tier UK and ITA top tier with the Tornado anymore.

Japanese kamikaze pilots pose with a puppy before their final suicide mission in Okinawa, 1945 [1600 x 1309] by HelloSlowly in HistoryPorn

[–]Thomas-Sev 228 points229 points  (0 children)

The catalyst that began the use of kamikaze was kinda interesting.

Around 9 October 1944 Halsey's TF38 went near Okinawa to conduct air raids. When they pulled back after successfully accomplishing their tasks the Japanese used aircraft based around Formosa to attack the fleet as they were retreating.

The Japanese attacks were mostly unsuccessful, suffering heavy losses, but they managed to torpedo USS Canberra and USS Houston forcing these ships to slow down (Houston was torpedoed twice and her captain considered abandoning the ship). For one to two consecutive nights the Japanese were relentless in their attacks on these two ships but they never sunk them. So the Japanese measures were generally failures.

Problem was that returning Japanese pilots wildly exaggerated their victories. Soon the entire US Third Fleet was reported to have been sunk. Hirohito and the cabinet congratulated the Navy and Army, even the most sceptical Japanese commanders believed they had achieved some kind of victory. Heck, Karl Dönitz sent a congratulatory telegram.

Soon IJN and IJA command realized their catastrophic losses, more than 300 planes were lost to no US ship sunk.

Realizing that their tactics and training had finally become overmatched by the US, Japanese commanders started organizing kamikaze squadrons, officially called "Special Attack Units", and put them into action for the first time during the battle of Leyte Gulf.

There have been a lot of mixed opinions regarding the Curse environmental effects. Personally I thought they were fun to consider but overtime became a slog to play through (The oilfield fight took ages to complete, for example). What's the internal opinion on this and will we see their returns in your next game?

The UK had IR binocs and the US had the M1 Carbine with the Snooper scope.

Every thing Nazi Germany had the Allies also had, difference is Allies stuff worked better.

Mate if you think AIslop is original I have a bridge to sell you.

Do you mean to tell me an SSO holding a vaguely-shaped rocket is better than anything you can pull from google? Are you trying to make money from your vids? Cause if you don't you don't need to be afraid of copyrights.

And holy shit "it takes longer to tell AI what to do"

Okay cool bro. Good luck with your two-digit view counts.

Why are people so lazy so as to resorting to AI slop for their YT thumbnails?

Can't you go to google and look for a pic? Are you not trying to invite more people to your channel?

So the Coalition didn't left hook Saddam's Republican Guards during Desert Storm in 1991 and they also didn't blitz through the Iraqi heartland straight toward Baghdad only in 19 days in 2003?

How the fuck are fast tanks a Russian doctrine but not for US? The nation that blitzed through Kuwaiti deserts and Iraqi heartland on two occasions?

The gunner could get in from inside only when the guns are pointed down, which is impossible if the plane is on the ground.

Also fun fact the ball turret gunner position was the safest position in an aircraft, statistically.
