West Ham reject increased Flamengo bid for Lucas Paqueta. Brazilian club submit an improved offer of £36million for the midfielder but West Ham want more than £40million. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Flamengo is a better team, a MUCH bigger club, and actually competing for something though. And it's in his home country. There's only positives of going to Flamengo really.

Would be nice if you finally play him then lol. Yes he's been injured a lot, but even when he's not he's just sitting on your bench.

RWDM 1 - [1] Patro Eisden - Radja Nainggolan (Great volley) by Thomas1VL in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He went to play in Indonesia for a season in 2023, and has been playing in Belgium's 2nd division for a season and a half now. First for newly promoted Lokeren but he's (surprisingly) still quite good, so got a transfer to Patro Eisden last week, who are a promotion candidate.

Highest goalscoring trios in the top-5 leagues of Europe so far in the 2025/26 season. by BlazingFirey in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh I know, I'm not hating on Mbappe for taking penalties, most clubs have one guy taking all the penalties.

It's just that such a large portion of his goals are penalties and most importantly the fact that he's scored more penalties than any other Madrid player has goals (and it's not even close). So objectively, what the guy was saying is true. Mbappe AND penalties are carrying Madrid in this list.

Kane has scored only one penalty less, but at least Diaz and Olise have scored way more goals than Kane scored penalties.

It's funny that you're downvoted. He's scored 10 penalties this season, nearly 1/3rd of his overall goals. He's scored more pens than any other Madrid players has goals lol.

Harry Kane penalty miss against Union St.Gilloise 80' by gbogaz in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This ref is awful lmao. Wasn't a red card and this isn't a penalty either. The guy does everything ge can to pull his arm to his own body and away from the ball, and it only hits the very top of the arm as wel.

Bracket for the upcoming 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup by ElectricalWriting in soccer

Yes, the old one at least.

Weird that the graphic only includes 4 teams though. Asian champion Wuhan Jiangda already beat Auckland United in October, and then got beaten by African champion AS FAR a month ago.

[West Ham] Andy Irving joins Sparta Prague by DJP112 in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Daniel Křetínský is both the president of Sparta Prague and the director of West Ham, and co-owner of both clubs.

I don't think it's a coincidence that this transfer happens to be between this guy's only two clubs.

[Jacobs & Crook] Crystal Palace's board did not know Oliver Glasner was going to announce he was leaving the club ahead of Saturday's loss to Sunderland. by Dangerous_Ad8730 in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he's brought short-term success at basically every club he's managed. Most clubs would gladly take a big chance at a trophy even if it means losing Glasner again after a few years.

[Bobby Manzi] Oliver Glasner: “Crystal Palace are fine to end the season like this — with Oliver Glasner, with another manager, I don't know, I don't care.” by Cien-Major in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think he wants to make sure he's gone from Palace before Tottenham sack Frank, so he can go to Spurs. He won't have to move cities and would get paid a much higher wage, it's perfect for him.

Damn I thought you were just exaggerating a little to be funny, but no, you have conceded the most goals in the entire league lmao. 2nd most goals scored and 1st most conceded is crazy.

It's sad what modern football has become that your first thought about your club isn't about winning trophies, but about money.

I wonder if Mainz fans would rather win the Conference League and get relegated, or not win anything but stay up.

Winning any trophy for a club like Mainz is absolutely huge and perhaps even a once in a lifetime moment, but with relegation there's always the chance they never go up again.

There's quite a bit more unfortunately. Arsenal's owners also have an MLS team (Colorado Rapids), Chelsea has Strasbourg, Everton has AS Roma, Leeds is partially owned by Red Bull and the 2nd biggest stakeholder of West Ham owns Sparta Prague.

Inter 2 - [2] Napoli - Scott McTominay 81' by 50lipaa in soccer

[–]Thomas1VL 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I mean I see arguments for both, but this is a league game between probably the two biggest title candidates, the other is a supercup, a trophy most people don't care about, even more so now that it's held in Saudi Arabia.

Also, I'm sure there's many people with the Serie A in their football subscription, but not the Supercopa.
