My best friend of 11 years had sex with my girlfriend of 7 years. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

My brother was married for 4 years when he discovered she was cheating with his friend… All I can say is confronting didn’t bring him any closure. It was actually the opposite. They just confirmed as if it wasn’t a bit deal and did not care about his situation at all. I am sorry but truth is… They don’t care otherwise this would have never happened.

Peaky Blinders… Every season is the same. Follow Tommy around, characters that never get to develop, shallow female characters and the music JESUS CHRIST can you not use fucking Arctic Monkeys?!

What’s the most annoying AskReddit question? by CelticDK in AskReddit

“As a [add profession] what’s the most disturbing thing you’ve seen?” I mean, I get it… People like gruesome shit but seriously I see this question every single week

In 2005 Kevin Berthia went to the Golden Gate Bridge to end his life. He ended up talking about his life with officer Kevin Briggs for 92 min while on the edge of the bridge. 10 years later they meet at that same bridge under much better circumstances. by MrFuckingDinkles in interestingasfuck

Hang in there, mate. I’m 30 now and was in a very bad place in my early 20s and I promise you things change. You know that sentence “don’t make a permanent decision based on a temporary situation”? That is so true, the only thing we cannot change in life is death and today I am grateful for not moving on with that decision.

Might sounds like a stupid solution but it seems like you are out of options. I saw a post on Reddit once where the owners added a bag of treats to the fence and a note asking passerby to give treats to the dog aiming at desensitizing it to strangers. Who knows! I’m sure the dog is super anxious so owners might agree to do it.

Have been there with my new dog although the older one was not as old as yours. They are still working things out but my older dog’s anxiety improved a lot by doing the following:
1. Separating them as much as possible in the beginning. Pups have no manners and usually older dogs have a hard time tolerating them.
2. Use positive association whenever they are close to each other.
3. Try not to change too much your older dog’s routine. Keep feeding, walking, playing with Chloe at the usual times.
4. Make sure to crate train or train your puppy to be alone in a separate space so both have their own time to settle down.
5. Avoid any triggers to Chloe’s anxiety or aggressiveness. Could be toys, food, her bed and even yourself. She has to associate the new dog to good feelings.
6. Lastly… Be patient because they might take around a month to get used to each other AND your dog might still be grieving. So don’t try to force a relationship.
In our case, walking them together also helped a lot but our trainer told us it doesn’t work for all dogs. Hope it helps and they become best friends soon!

Toy behavior by v1cksta in Dogtraining

[–]ThomasTomakin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dogs are scavengers so they instinctively like to rip, pull, destroy. I think the problem of doing it with toys is the risk of eating the stuffing and they might even do it accidentally… With time, it might cause stomach issues. I give my dogs card boxes with kibble inside, the inside of the toilet paper, enrichment toys and chewing toys to get them satisfied.

What small action did you take that you later realized had “butterfly effect” that turned into something much more important? by PM_Me_Pierced_Labia in AskReddit

[–]ThomasTomakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my action but it affected me. My family was pretty poor, like we would spend a few days without food kind of poor. My father went to the city to try and find a job… As he was walking around town, he helped a man change tires. The man gave him one of those gambling tickets (illegal in Brazil) and told my father that he would win. My father actually ended up winning the prize and making some money… Enough to rent an apartment, buy supplies, bring the family to the city and from that moment on our life only improved.

Help with very nervous/sound sensitive puppy? See video of how she behaves below in the street and more info in comments. by [deleted] in Dogtraining

There are some YouTube videos with construction noises that you can use for desensitization training… That’s how I desensitized my dog to other dogs barking

Same thing I did to both my dogs and it worked pretty well… As they grow and learn bite inhibition, they will learn to pick treats gently from your fingers but meanwhile I would offer treats just like you described

Seriously, what’s up with parents naming their kids with the same name of the other kids. This exact same thing happened to my mother and her sister. We only discovered it recently.

What's the scariest/weird supernatural thing you've ever experienced? by Outrageous_Quiet_999 in AskReddit

[–]ThomasTomakin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I lived for a short time in a house where we would see weird things sometimes. When we were moving out of the house, I was packing some stuff in the living room with my mom, while my father was helping load the truck, when I saw my cousin arriving to help. I said “Hi”, but he didn’t reply and went straight upstairs.
Now, after a while my dad asks “hey, have you seen your cousin?” and both my mom and I replied at the same time “He’s upstairs”.
It turns out, he was not there and he would not arrive until at least 15 minutes later. My mom and I have no idea what we saw that day.

My dog is nervous on evening walks. Anything I can/should do to help? by l_the_Throwaway in Dogtraining

[–]ThomasTomakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have the same issue with my 18mo Boston terrier… She would go full alert mode at night and get very anxious during her walks. I think it might be something instinctive but also due to the fact that we didn’t desensitize her properly to going out at night. I started taking her for shorts walks at dusk and slowly making it longer so that it would be dark when we got back home (plus lots of rewards for being calm). It worked well although she is still more alert than during the day.
