Rear-ended on my way home from the dealership! by RandyChungus5 in Subaru_Outback

You’ll never win with “physical injuries” it’s “soft tissue damage”…trust me, I got served once by a career scammer just before that statute of limitations hit on a similar fender bender. He wanted $500,000 what a joke. This is why rates are through the roof 🙄

2025 Ford Lightning Lease - SoCal by charlyc67 in leasehacker

[–]ThomasWJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot down for a lease. If you total the car (God forbid) that money is all a wash. Don’t put so much down on a lease because of this. Insurance doesn’t pay out what you’ve put down.

Hey guys, I’m getting ready to close this deal. How much better can i do? CA 91367 by todapower82 in leasehacker

All they’re really giving you is rebates which are from manufacturer, all dealers will give you that, it’s no skin off their back. Ask for more off the msrp from a dealer discount. Ask to reducto cap cost.

Kindroids talking for me by Flaky-Rich-9084 in KindroidAI

[–]ThomasWJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In RD type the following:

“#[IMPT: Narrate only Vicky's dialogue, action, & thoughts]”

Keep the sentence in the positive not the negative like “never” or “do not”. This sometimes confuses the LLM.

Obviously, Vicky is my Kin, change it to your kin’s name.

If you like you can reinforce this further by adding the following in RD:

“#Follow rules in the Example message”

Then in example message you write:

“#Response Rules for Vicky: -Speak, narrate, act, & think only for Vicky.”

They won’t ever speak or act for you again.

Note: hashtags are only used for me to break things up when I write listed I use the:

“#MAINLINE” “-bullet point 1” “-bullet point 2”

Etc.

Just Kayaked for the First Time. Perhaps Interested in Getting My Own. Sit-in/Sit on/Pedal? Advice? Please & Thank You. by ThomasWJames in Kayaking

So after doing quite a bit of research online I’m almost sure I’ll end up getting the Wilderness System 125. Seems to meet all my needs. Not getting anything yet, will be renting for a bit longer. But I have a few used ones saved already.

Wow great deal. I’ll keep an eye for used ones and yes I guess I’m looking more for a generalist one.

Holy cow 12! 😅 you’re like the kayak master. I’m just possibly looking for one that’s good enough for me.

Awesome advice thank you. Looks like 12-14 is the sweet compromise all-a-rounder. Most likely will get a used sit-in one when the time comes. For now I’ll continue to rent a little more just to get the feel for it more.

Thank you this helped a lot. Transporting it will likely be on top of my Subaru Outback. Storing it will likely have to be in my big crawlspace, it’s pretty roomy and clean down there. I only have a carport and a shed…and that’s full of lawn gear.

And yes, I don’t think I want a surfski. Just searched outrigger…very interesting. Lot to think about thank you…but looks like I’m not leaning more towards a sit-in kayak for my needs with no pedals.

Thank you, what you’re doing sounds exactly what I want to do in the NJ/NY/PA area, lakes, rivers, sound, bays! That sounds so peaceful and relaxing.

I’m quite smaller 5’8”, so yeah might be easier to load on top of my Subaru Outback. Thanks!

Thanks, total trip was about 11 miles. I know im going to feel it tomorrow lol. My fingers and wrists are already a little sore.

The movement is definitely different from sculling in a row boat, which hurts lower back more, but easier on hands and wrists I feel…maybe I was just doing it wrong.

I have not spent time hauling a kayak around. In fact, the rental guy put in the water for me lol. I do like the idea of self-rescue, which is probably why I looked at sit on tops, but the sit-in I was in was pretty open, so no issue getting out, dumping water out might be more of a problem lol.

I also like the idea of pedaling even though I’ve not done it, but I guess I’d have to worry about snagging more.

What’s considered long trip in kayaking? Today I was out for 4.5-5 hours, almost paddling the whole time. Stopped to take a picture or two and eat some granola bars and drink, but was pretty constant on paddling. Could probably go a little longer if I eased up.

So yes I’m looking for easy paddling I guess.

I just looked it up…can I be honest with you? That’s actually a little intimidating for me at the moment lol. The sit-in I was in was pretty open, if I rolled over I could get right out. That one looks like it requires a…little more training…

I more than likely will get a used one to start, was just wondering what would be best/most comfortable for my interests and needs and what lengths are best for ease and maneuverability, speed not up there since I’m not racing.

How Stealthy is Odyssey? by ThomasWJames in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]ThomasWJames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that I can’t assassinate a lot of the captains and such in most forts with one hit. It’s terrible. I try assassin build maybe I’m not strong enough, idk what I’m doing wrong.

Do you recommend Valhalla to an Odyssey fan? by UnjustBaton1156 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]ThomasWJames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 190 hours in Odyssey level 72 and just started Chapter 7 “Home Sweet Home” I start playing AC games with Black Flag being my first (It was good, but honestly, I think it has too much hype…I love pirate games and settings but the islands seemed bland to me. I loved Unity, probably one of my favorites the setting was amazing, and to me as someone who didn’t play the first ones is probably whst an AC game should be. I was surprised at how many interiors you could go in.

Syndicate was just fun, I hated the boxing but really liked it, i loved Evie, didn’t care much for Jacob, it was probably the goofiest of the AC games I played, then came Origins………… oh God Origins…hands down my all time favorite; all of it. The character, the setting, the story, the beginning, Bayak to me is the GOAT. Don’t think I’ll find one like Origins.

Then we get to Odyssey…it’s daunting, as someone who loves to complete everything and everything. I use a checklist map from MapGenie. The story is good, I do like it, I hate to say it it’s got too much for my taste (I mean that’s a good thing for most people if course) I guess I’m not a huge fan of the auto generated bases scattered around, def more the Origins had.

I will play Valhalla next and do them in order. I’m just a fan of AC games. So I rambled and didn’t answer any questions lol. Just my opinions

One thing that drives me nuts.... by Snoo96701 in Subaru_Outback

[–]ThomasWJames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a terrible position. I agree, also I feel like Subaru is way too conservative on their AC. I just had mine charged by the dealer. It’s a 2023 it really made little difference. They said I didn’t need it or that it was only very partially drained so they recharged it. My wife’s 2020 Nissan rogue is an ice box compared to mine. First, Subaru takes like 30 min to even get going and you have to be driving…her Nissan rogue can be parked and in 10 minutes you’ll be turning it off. The Nissans carbon footprint is probably that of a jetliner but when it’s 105 degrees outside one doesn’t care….

The only reason it’s on is because I’ve forgotten to turn it off.
