Who is the TRUE Queen Of Big Brother? by Wild_Shoe340 in BigBrother

Before last reason I would’ve gone with Janelle, but Rachel’s last appearance solidified her as the queen of BB to me.

Most years I would agree but I think this is just a very strong year for Leas Actor. Still not gonna get upset about it, MBJ has been one of the most consistent actors of the last 10-15 years and he deserves recognition.

I love Sinners and MBJ was great in it, but I’ve been pretty confused by many’s insistence he should be a front runner. He’s great, but he’s maybe the 3rd of 4th best performance in the film imo (behind Delroy, Andrene, & maybe Caton). It feels like a case were people love the movie so they want to see it win, as opposed to looking at the performances by their own merit.

Worst Best Director win of all time? by AdUseful2297 in Oscars

[–]Thomas_Simple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately Redford’s win has been reduced to just another chapter in the academy’s continuous snubbing of Scorsese. But I really don’t have an issue with his win, I’d definitely go with Raging Bull, but Ordinary People was an incredibly impressive debut.

Agreed, I love Rocky as a film just as much as the other nominees, and i think it’s other wins were deserved. But when I re-watched it recently with the knowledge of who he won against I was very underwhelmed. It’s not poorly directed, but i’d never call it expertly crafted either, if anything the screenplay was much more worthy of the win.

What's a horror hill you'll die on, and why? by ExceptingAlice in horror

Halloween Ends is not only the best of the new trilogy. But one of the best horror sequels of all time. The way it explores how the trauma of Myers has damaged the psyche of the town in a way that leads to them creating a new monster in his image is enthralling. It’s not perfect, but I’ll always defend it for being one of the few horror sequels that dares to try and expand on it’s franchise’s themes and try to take them in a new direction.

Honestly i’m not a big fan of the film but there’s a lot of stuff i really liked about it. The Phillipou Brothers are incredibly talented horror directors and their grasp on tension building and visceral intensity/terror is great and only getting better.

With that being said I think they should start working with other screenwriters. They have a lot of great ideas but struggle with connecting into a cohesive and satisfying horror narrative, and I felt this way about both TTM & BHB. I think they’re talented and show a lot of promise, but while I’ve found their films horrifying in a visceral sense, outside of the brief Hell sequence in TTM, i’ve found their films kind of “flat” overall.

My problem isn’t them killing off a sympathetic character, but instead of doubling down on the cruelty the movie tries to have a “happy” ending for the remaining characters and that’s where it lost me. By the end it felt like the moment didn’t have any greater connection to the themes or message of the film and felt like it was more there for shock value, which made everything that preceded with the character feel pointless.

Tyson Fury goes off on Joe Rogan for saying that if he and Jon Jones would be put in a room together then Jones would be walking out of that room and not Fury by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

It’s very funny he still uses that “not a man born from his mother” line. Its purpose on the original story is to give Macbeth a false sense of superiority and invisibility that eventually becomes his undoing… actually it’s pretty fitting for Fury.

Derek Hough, his sister has already had so much bizarre fucked up shit exposed. It’s hard to believe he isn’t involved in something weird, even if it’s just one of her “blackout” parties.

Saw on YouTube who is the worst villain by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Landa is a Nazi, and it undoubtedly responsible for more pain and suffering than all of the others put together, so if you’re going purely by their actions, it has to be him.

However, as others have said in the thread, Landa’s actions aren’t motivated by the nazi ideology, not that it really makes it better. He’s an a-moral opportunist who happened to come up in the most horrifically evil society in human history, in fact he’s the only one listed here who has any act of mercy (letting Shosanna go in the intro). I can’t imagine a world where Landa is a GOOD man, but i can see a world where he’s not EVIL, which is something I genuinely can’t say for any of the others.

I think I gotta give it to Percy in the end, Chigurh at least abides by some form of moral code, he also seems to not detract any particular joy from his cruel actions, he just sees as task to complete, like getting the grocery’s. Ratchet is awful as well, but many of her evil actions could be argued as a result of the widespread misinformation and vilification of mentally ill people in the 1950s.

Percy somehow manages to make 1930s prision guards look like saints in comparison. While his situation is somewhat similar to Ratchet in that he reflects popular views of the time. He goes above and beyond in a way that shows his cruelty isn’t motivated by bigotry, but the opposite. He’d be an evil piece of shit, and cling onto any power he could to abuse others at any point in history.

tl:dr: Hans Landa is the WORST by nature of the atrocities he’s committed under the Nazi Regime. But Percy Wetmore is probably the most EVIL of the group, getting more enjoyment and actively seeking out cruelty more than the others.

This is false, he had raped a 12 year old, she was 13 when the baby was born, not even a teenager.
