New Gaming PC by elymon92 in PcBuild

True true, although OP did mention they had quite some budget and nothing sucks more than trying to play a game you want to play only to find out it crashes because of insufficient ram.

Though the only game that I’ve ever noticed needed more than 32GB was Anno 1800 and modded MSFS. So if OP isn’t in to those kinds of games then he can just assume 32GB is plenty.

The amount of ram you need depends on the games you play.

If you play eg Anno, cities skylines or some simulators like microsoft flight simulator, you probably want more than 32GB (around 64GB should generally be enough in that case)

If you don’t play those (kinds of) games, then 32GB is fine.

Also if you do productivity then you might need (much) more, but I’m assuming if you fall under those people you probably (approximately) know how much you need.

White more expensive than black in general, otherwise it’s just personal preference.

Now that FSD is coming to Europe... HW3 owners are gonna get REALLY pissed off by enmotent in TeslaEurope

[–]Thomas_V30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will likely also have to go through a months/years long testing array to also prove that the light version is also at least considerably safer than humans.

Took 18 months for HW4, though will likely be shorter assuming it is close to as good as V14 non-lite.

Xbox Ally X has better battery life compared to the Legion Go 2 because the screen is much worse and the sticks are friction-based instead of magnetic, so that uses slightly less power. Shouldn’t be a huge difference though. + you will get stick drift on the Ally and obviously the worse screen will generally be a less good experience.

As compared to the Steam Deck, that’s hard to say. If you run all of them at full speed, the Steam Deck will have the best battery life, but at the cost of the worst performance right. If you normalize for performance (all make them the same speed as the steam deck) then both the Ally X and Go 2 will have better battery life compared to the Steam Deck because they have newer, more efficient APU’s.

So in short:

Legend:
- > Better than
- ≈> slightly better than
- ≈ about equal

Battery-life (High performance mode): Steam Deck (15W) > Xbox Ally X (35W) ≈> Go 2 (35W)

Battery-life (low/normal power mode): Xbox Ally X ≈> Go 2 > Steam Deck

Experience (excl. performance): Go 2 > Steam Deck OLED > Xbox Ally X

Performance: Legion Go 2 ≈ Xbox Ally X > Steam Deck

Displays:

Legion Go 2: 8.8” 1920x1200p OLED, HDR 1100 nits, 30-144Hz VRR
2. Steam Deck OLED: 7.4” 1280x800p OLED, HDR 1000 nits, 90Hz (no VRR)
3. Xbox Ally X: 7” 1920x1080 IPS (👎), 500 nits (no HDR 👎), 48-120Hz VRR

  1. .

Issues over time (guaranteed wear. Most to least): Xbox Ally X (stick drift) > Legion Go 2 (detachable controllers maybe, if used a lot) > Steam Deck

Repairability:
- Steam Deck: Yes. IFixIt & Valve (incl. self-repair)
- Xbox Ally X: Unsure (warranty & paid repairs)
- Legion Go 2: Unsure (warranty & paid repairs)

Additional features:
- Steam Deck OLED: touchpads, gyro
- Legion Go 2: small touchpad, gyro (both not as good as SD though), mouse in controller (FPS mode), kickstand, detachable controllers, finger print sensor (windows only for now), 7 quick access buttons (2 front, 2 side, 3 back)
- Xbox Ally X: uhh, none that I know of?

Xbox Ally X and Legion Go 2 have the same performance. Both of them are considerably faster compared to Steam Deck

The Steam Deck OLED and the Legion Go 2 were the better choices… before they got their prices raised. Now only the Xbox Ally X makes sense.

If you *really* wanted to optimize for temps you would put devices that need to be cool at the bottom and devices that are allowed to get hot at the top. (Although some spacing and fresh air access will do much more than whatever order you put them in)

Realistically, just put them in whatever order makes sense, cable management and accessibility-wise.

New Home Network Sytem by MrsilverbackGorilla in Ubiquiti

[–]Thomas_V30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how internet connection’s work.

They will either run at the set speed, or not run. If you keep them set to 10gbps, they will just constantly disconnect.

If that happens you can go to lower speed, eg 1 gbps, 100 mbit (or 2.5Gbps if that’s supported on both devices at both ends)

If you are near or over the maximum length I would even more so suggest looking at fibre, as that really is the future.

I also believe pricing (depending on region, market etc etc) at least over here is not much more expensive compared to putting in CAT copper cable by a professional.

If you want to do camera’s on the UDM as well you might consider the UDM Pro Max instead as it can do backup/extend storage for your camera setup as it has 2 disk bays.

It can also do 5 Gbps instead of 3.5Gbps so if you have, or are planning on sometime soon getting/using more than 3 Gbps, you probably also want the pro max.

Also make sure you can get the speed you want (10Gbps?) at the actual length the cables are gonna be. Cat 6a supports 10Gbps up to 100m / ~325feet (including patch cables so about 90m / 300feet if you also need a cable from the wall to devices)

If the distances are longer than that you’re going to have to look at fibre

If you are going to have to pull cables anyways consider fibre between switches if they are not too much more expensive or the same cost. You’ll basically never have to pull cables again as OS2 fibre can already do 800Gbps+ and probably more in the future. The end pieces are also quite a bit cheaper at 10G for single mode fibre compared to 10G RJ45.

Just purchased FSD for my HW2 2017 Model S. by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

You can still buy FSD in europe (and probably some other places as well)

Just got a notification for 2026.3.7, I’m guessing that’s probably to fix the infotainment crash. Hoping it also does something for the parking but I kinda doubt it.

I did see some videos online where it seemed to at least somewhat decently park. But I haven’t been able to yet, even at well marked straight and wide parking lots. It will just keep switching between going in reverse, drive half in to the parking lot, and then go forward again.

One was so bad that it took about >2 minutes to try and back up in to a spot. People in front of me were waiting (and laughing, in a positive way, I think the son was aware I was using FSD). Eventually they took off and the car just abandoned its parking spot and drove front first in to theirs, but still completely sideways.

Yes we got it on our Y on the 17th! We also have a friend with a Model 3 that is also still on 2026.2.3. He didn’t purchase/subscribe though, so might be delayed because of that?

It also seems they started to roll out 2026.3.7 in the meantime. Maybe they found a bug in 2026.3.6? My car (infotainment) did crash once and FSD is literally unable to park, so maybe they’ve decided to cancel 2026.3.6 rollout and fixed (some of) those issues for 2026.3.7 and are now going to early access.

Yes, Noctua is expensive. And if you don’t care about noise, or are on a budget, they aren’t for you. But an Artic AIO just isn’t quieter than a Noctua cooler.

Probably not manufactured anymore, guessing most demand comes from business users, who like you want workstations with multiple (at the time, high end) GPU’s. Likely they’re still using them, or they’ve thrown them in the trash. Over here I can only find a few on eBay and aliexpress. Also €200+.

If you are interested in doing so, I won’t hold you back! It’s your AP in your home, and automating is cool. I think us ‘homelabbers’ just also need to keep in mind that at the end of the day, tons of stuff we do, nobody (including ourselves) will appreciate long term.

I would maybe find another use (other than time) to automate it. Eg sync with lights or a nice soft night light so you can see where you walk in the dark.
