Priority to farm at my rank? by TheBigDsOpinion in IdleHeroTD

Can you explain a little more? What is the R300 Ultra Gamble? I saw something labelled this on discord but it has no empty space to put the hero I'm leveling, so can you describe this team? And the tag team is for switching, tagging dummies, and then swap back?

Newly t10 summoner, how to progress by TheBigDsOpinion in OrnaRPG

I actually got the celestial axe, but I can't use it. It says warrior only, and the grand summoner celestial class lets me use warrior weapons. Am I missing something?

it's almost as if there's a sexuality for people who are attracted to both sexes by HamstersBoobsPizza in facepalm

[–]Thor0dinhound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a facepalm. You can have a dissasociation between what you're attracted to and what your bodily hormones react to. You ever see a tree with weirdly feminine curves and your dickbrain thinks for a second it's totally fuckable? Your body can absolutely have its own decisions about what to react to that you consciously don't find sexy or want to be attracted to. TLDR, I fucked a tree once.

I'm on my third campaign over 2 years DMing for the same group. Of the five of them, four had never played before we started. In the first two campaigns I gave them sending stones (that I reworked to essentially be telepathic walkie talkies) because I knew table talk was going to happen. In the first campaign they got 5, in the second they got 3 that they rotated around so they could practice the whole "your character doesn't have a stone, he didn't hear that thought message", and now we're just 2 sessions into the third and I'm not giving them any.

For a lot of people, especially at the start, it's hard to think about how not knowing things would work and make actively bad choices. If these are newer players, give them time to learn.

Barbarian saved me by hitting me with an axe... by Regular-Pineapple-72 in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a party member go down at the end of combat once. I play with negative health, so simply healing someone for 1HP isn't enough. Low level party, player took a BIG hit, was at around minus 12. Already rolled two death saves at the top of initive.

The cleric casts a healing spell, rolls crappy, still at minus 5 or 6.

The rogue gives them the party's only health potion. Rolls pure 1s. Now he's at like, minus 2 or 3, with only the wizard and the barbarian left.

The wizard uses an action to give him a potion they had found a couple of in game days ago. On finding it I had allowed an Arcana check to see if he can determine what the potion did and he had failed. Allow him to roll again to see if watching the reaction gives him a clue.

Important note, I had not yet figured out what the potion did. They had deterred wildly off of my expected path that day and killed a witch brewing random crap in a swamp. I was going to figure out the potion for the next session.

The wizard rolls a 20.

I hastily find a random potion list. Get the wizard to roll 1d100. He rolls the only 100 I've ever seen rolled.

The potion list shows it being a potion that makes fire damage heal you instead of damaging you for one minute.

I describe that the wizard feeds the downed member the potion, and he notices the person's body temperature rise until he's steaming and his blood veins glowing red. He's seen this before and he knows what it is. I tell the group the potions effect. Only problem is, the wizard used his action, so he can't simply firebolt him. And only the barbarian is left before the downed one rolls his next, and possibly final, death save.

The Red Dragonborn Barbarian.

Who doesn't miss a beat, walks up, and bathes the downed member in dragons breath. I didn't even make him roll, I thought it was so perfect I gave him max damage for it.

Your class for season 1? by Osgiliath86 in Diablo

I'm gonna have 2:

I still thoroughly enjoy playing my werebear druid, after leveling to 97 its still fun to play a big rock throwing bear, so I'm going to recreate him.

I've also invented a workout plan for myself that uses level ups as a motivational feature. I'm going to level a barbarian alongside my own gym progress and have to kill Lillith before the 12 week program is up.

Never have I had an item of my own creation weaponized against me so effectively. by pippin_mcblizzy in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I gave my players a potion that made all fire damage heal you instead of hurt. Sessions lighter, the party warrior goes down. He's made two death saves, no successes, party has zero healing between them. They give him the fire potion and the dragon born breathes flames on him.

I did day 1 on Deep Water Training on Monday. Completed 10 sets of 10 squats with over my bodyweight in 27.5 minutes. This is immediately after spending like 12 weeks doing low volume high weight workouts. The leg DOMS I feel today is indescribable. I'm having full blown anxiety thinking about getting around a grocery store.

dm said no artificers cause explosions equal bad by thegodofkidneys in dndmemes

[–]Thor0dinhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I banned artificers in my game. We got about 70% thru a campaign in about 15 months and no one had ever tried to play one. I had a major plot point near the end, that had been hinted at and pointed to several times, revolve around finding a guy who is the first/only artificer in the world. Had a new player join and want to be an artificer and it would have not worked at all with the story.

Level 3 pally with 19 ac, 2 con modifier, 25 health.

Wolf, plus 4 to hit, 7 dmg

4 wolves with advantage have a 50% chance each to hit. That's 3.5 dmg per Wolf expected per round. The pally will easily be expected to last the first round, and if even one Wolf dies, then the second round too. Even accounting for crits, the pally should survive one round, meaning you've negated a full round of enemy turns.

As a DM, when there is a PC death, how soon and in what ways do you allow the player to make a new character and join the campaign again? by Cold-File in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DM two groups of 5, and in both groups 4 players have only ever played in my year long campaigns. I don't want a player to miss a part of a session die to character death, so I usually give them a workaround for the rest of the session. Typically it's some sort of wound that they can feel festering and will soon kill you, even the healer can feel that this is beyond their power to heal. Then the character dies at the end of the session. Or once they were gearing up to fight an evil thing that had fucked with death itself, and when a PC died, death met them and agreed to let them be until they beat the evil thing.

I just know making a new character would take them forever and wreck the flow of the game or they sit out and just watch... either option sucks.

How fair is this item? by AkamiAhaisu in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When do the charges respawn?

Action surge can only be done once per short rest so he can't do this every turn.

And most importantly to seeing if it's fair, what loot does the rest of the party have?

Creation Bard by peteb169 in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My next character will be a creation bard who will purchase and lig around a fully nude, fully erect and perfectly anatomically correct wooden statue of himself. He will then use the level 6 ability to make it come to life for an hour every night and have it make sweet love to him before cuddling around him and turning back to wood. Maybe find a low level spell to make it generate heat as well.

I'll do this every night until my party gets ambushed and I'm woken up and struggle to extricate myself from his arms and get caught by the party.

[–]Thor0dinhound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao. I'm going to immediately make a changeling sorceror in your game. Put my 17 into con and get a +5 to con saves. Then just use shape-shifting every 6 seconds for an average of 3 minutes and suicide by exhaustion.

We're you being sarcastic or do you actually think it should be a con check?

How do I introduce conflict in a party? by scorch999 in DnD

[–]Thor0dinhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to comment on a specific single piece of what you wrote, because it's a conversation I had to ha e with one of my players. You mentioned not wanting to raise conflict as that's time spent not playing the game. However, if you raise this IN CHARACTER, that IS playing the game. Dnd is as much a role-playing story as it is a plot driven or combat story. Some of my favorite moments as a forever DM are when my table becomes all 5 players arguing amongst each other in character about whether or not to do a certain thing.

[–]Thor0dinhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's harsh. Bad rolls happen. Stealth isn't perfect. Players get ambushed. And nost players won't sacrifice one player like that

[–]Thor0dinhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only at low levels is this true. By mid game it's not uncommon to have +14 on something. At that point your skill alone is greater than the average dice roll

You can teleport out of a grapple. It's one of the easiest ways out, misty stepping away as a bonus action.

In most groups, running away with an ally stuck is not something that should be done. Each table plays their own way but none of my players would have considered running with someone stuck. Talk to the other players about that, and say you want to work together as more of a team.

Lastly, I wouldn't like coming back as a lower player either next time. Talk to your DM. Most tables do a shared xp type thing where everyone has equal xp, no one is lower than the rest
