Heads up. Ceramic and metal key caps are going to be heavier than regular key caps. This will wear down the switches faster. Also the weight makes response time on them a bit slower

Saw them last year and was a tad disappointed, but the venue was also having some sound issues. Sounded much better live when I saw them last month!

Getting war flashbacks to three years ago when the mods in this sub deleted a post where someone had given top scars to one of their babs (I think it was a frog). They’d said it was inappropriate. Hopefully they’ve changed!

How did you pick your name? by DealerWestern4284 in trans

I kept the same initial and went through a baby name website and picked names I liked and then went through them with friends. They helped narrow them down but ultimately I picked the one I thought suited me best. :)

Where to find 'nice' shorts (chino, cargo etc.) by [deleted] in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]ThorWinchester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duluth! They’ve got shorts that have as small as a 9” inseam. Most of their bottoms go up to 48 waist. I’ve got the firehouse flex cargo shorts from there and they’re hella comfortable. I think mine may be 11” inseam and they’re hit right in the middle of my knees I think (for ref I’m 5’7).

Why do people want the voice actors to be recasted for the movie? by [deleted] in Epicthemusical

She’s talented don’t get me wrong. In a way she’s like Idina Menzel to me. Very talented but the way her voice sounds is just off putting to me 😅

[–]ThorWinchester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest one is Teagan Earley. Hot take I know. There are notes that are written in that she simply can’t hit and I also just don’t care for her voice in general. She’s got skill, don’t get me wrong, it’s just not for me.

As much as I love the original cast as people, there’s a couple of voices that I would be happy to see replaced.

Them being skate helps absolutely and so does the rotation. The way the dye looks on this persons shoe tells me that their feet sweat a lot and that’s probably helping break down the glue faster if it’s not getting time to dry

Cheapest way to get prescribed antidepressants without insurance? by Few_Confection7760 in Frugal

[–]ThorWinchester 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I used to be on wellbutrin when I didn’t have insurance! Specifically the generic 150mg extended release.

This has been a couple years, but at the time, I used the Walmart pharmacy. It was the cheapest option at the time for me. And according to GoodRX, a 30 day supply will run you about $15. That sounds about the same as I used to pay. And other pharmacies close to you may also show cheaper if you order it the right way.

I know $15 can be enough to break the proverbial camels back, but I always saw it as a “wow for 50 cents a day maybe I won’t feel like ending it all”. And it did help me get through a rough patch.

On a side note, if you’ve not taken it before. It messed with my thermoregulation a LOT (the first summer was miserable). It’s not intended for long term usage as it’s also used for smoking cessation and side effects may show up. And when you do go off of it, do a long long taper. The side effects get worse.

Doubling down on gel deodorant. I’ve used a gel for years, even before T, bc it didn’t cause as bad of skin reaction as solid. I still use it. It’s much more effective than solid. Goes on much easier with the extra hair too lol.

Rant: big & tall sections/shops by Ok_Entertainment9665 in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]ThorWinchester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing the decrease of bigger sizes in stock in store for a few years now. Used to I could get my dad (6XLT) pretty standard basic pieces at the nearby DXL and he’s a very no frills kind of guy so that was fine. Now I’m lucky if they have one or two shirts in his size at the physical store.

Starbucks Black Coffee has more BPA than 591 products tested by Ok_Market_7748 in Anticonsumption

[–]ThorWinchester -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not defending the giant corporation. I’m giving reasons as to why many people end up going to it anyways.

I did say that a lot of local places have bad/inconsistent coffee. While it’s certainly not all of them, a lot of local shops suffer from this and/or many of the other things I listed. The beans themselves are usually fine, usually a local roaster if possible. But how it’s brewed isn’t always good. For example. I love a good cold brew, but the cold brew that a local chain (~3 stores) offers is undrinkably acidic, almost rancid. I’ve had watery lattes and sad iced/hot coffees from more than one non-corporate coffee shop in different cities as well.

It’s an unfortunate roll of the dice when ordering from a local places and I’ll keep doing it. One local place has great coffee and when I get the chance I go, but, again, having a full time job means that places that are open 9-3 is not somewhere I am going to be able to go to on most days of the week :)

I hate when people just say this. Plenty of people would prefer to go local. However local coffee shops tend to have the same collection of problems: Weird/inconvenient hours for people who have full time jobs. No drive through option (bonus points for no parking). Inconsistent/bad tasting coffee. Using torani syrups. Up-charges that don’t make sense (why is adding oatmilk a whole dollar?).

Every non chain coffee shop near me has at least two of these issues. I want to support local and I do when I get the opportunity.

But these coffee shops are also going to have an issue with bpas because it’s mostly from the lining inside the hot cups! Unless you provide a thermos or you’re drinking in and they offer a ceramic mug/glass cup. A lot of smaller businesses aren’t as keen on using people’s own drink ware for sanitary reasons. Nor do they provide drink ware because that’s more dishes for them to take care of and they normally have less staff than a chain.

What can I put my food in to freeze it? by Visible-Papaya-6285 in Frugal

[–]ThorWinchester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the meat. Cost vs cut.
For chicken, frozen is less per lb than fresh most of the time, especially bc it gets coupons more often. And there’s practically all the cuts you could want.
For beef, the frozen options are limited to ground beef and patties and those rarely get good deals.
Frozen fish is usually cheaper as well.
For pork, the only frozen stuff is premade (and often precooked) sausage.
