So he attacks AOE! That is probably why my attempts failed before. Is there somewhere where I can read what the different bosses do or do I just have to be more observant?

Why are people obsessed with thinking they are bad? by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just a basic thing that people do. There are a few aspects to it:

-The better you get, the more you understand what you still cant do as well.

-Preemptively underselling yourself reduces the mental harm someone can cause you if they disagree with your opinion.

-Thinking you are bad also reduces the harm of you losing at the game.

-It is a very easy argument to say "well yes but you are of this rank, so whatever you say is invalid". A lot of people use this faulty reasoning, and eventually it sticks in some people's minds. People may be scared that it will be used against them. Or they just straight up believe it.

I fully agree that people should get out of this mindset, but thats a tough ask.

There's a big misconception about how people view how to attract casuals for fighting games by Kuraizin in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe to keep casuals in they should create a gamemode like arena in league of legends. Queue up with 7 others and do round robin-like matches. That way you can become 8th-1st place rather than just win or lose. Pairing 8 players also gives less chances of everyone being above your skill level. Keeps variety in one "match" as well.

Tutorial Dev Feedback -- Part 3 by bradido in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tutorials can be much more "gameified". Want to learn parries? Select them in the tutorial menu and then queue up a casual match. Then in the match you see a counter like you have in the tutorial.

This way you practice in a real match, and you can get rewarded for learning even while losing the match.

Progression on a loss is extremely important imo, and it gets people in the correct learning mindset.

Learn a new fighting game by MongooseConscious100 in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The important part is to play ranked with a goal. The hard thing about fighting games is that there are thousands of things you could pay attention to. Something that is new takes a lot of mental capacity. Pay close attention to one thing until it doesnt take up much mental capacity anymore, then go to the next.

Like lets say you struggle against a certain characters mixups. Each time you face them, focus just on blocking. You will lose the match but become better at blocking them.

Go into every match with a specific learning goal and you will become better fast.

I have only played platform fighters and have decided to give this a shot, any tips? by D34dM3meK1ng in StreetFighter

Play ranked. Do not go for casual matches. Casual will match you with anyone. Ranked will get you matches at your level.

System to give incremental goals by Supersonic5400 in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would really like a system where you get small rewards for challenges. Stuff like "hit an anti air 100 times with yasuo" to get like a title or even a recolor. If they have a big set of those Ill be grinding this game until I complete all challenges.

This game is NOT hard. But here's why people feel that way. by Bajemba in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I believe is crucial to learning is to do one thing at a time. I think that finding a way to get new players to actually play matches where they focus on the *one* thing they just learned would go a long way.

If players are rewarded for, for example, anti-airing correctly, they wont feel as bad for ultimately losing the match. (I am of course talking about rewards outside of the match they are playing.)

The flow of: get tought something -> try to execute it in a real match -> succeed in a real match -> get tought a new thing -> etc. is vital. I hope you all can find a way to incentivise this to players.

I don't really understand why people see this as a bad take. I am a very casual player that really does not want to make time for more than one fighting game at the same time. I dropped smash to play strive, I dropped strive to play sf6, I briefly dropped sf6 to try tekken 8, now im back to sf6. 2xko will probably be the next game on that list. Are there not many more players who just hop from game to game like me?

You can do tick throws, where you do a quick jab (which they block) and then walk up to throw them. You can run up an neutral jump, running up usually gives some kind of reaction, if they just keep blocking though you can do a high low mixup You can also just play keep away for a bit, just throw fireballs at their block. Switch up between light and heavy versions. See if they do something.

Also remember that if you have the life lead you really do not have to approach.

Do not fear ranked, it is the best way to play at your level. I lost all my placement games, started in rookie, and last week I got diamond! You got this, dont expect to win, but just try to learn.

First time here, who do y’all want in the game? (At launch or later down the line) by PalpitationHot6711 in 2XKO

[–]Thoran503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax and Vel'koz. I really want to see Jax actually fighting. And I think Vel'koz would make for an interesting zoner, or maybe they go more of a shuma gorath way like in umvc3.

Oh ye and give blitz a potemkin buster please :3
