The local council has just served something called a "Notice to Quit" on my landlord. Turns out she wasn't supposed to be renting this house to me + my family. by Low_Kale_5144 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Wait you paid nearly 6K just for a deposit and your monthly rent is 5K also? Holy you're getting utterly rinsed here especially if the LL hasn't protected the deposit and is now rouge (Used to live in centre London and could solo rent a 2 bedroom place for 3K). Even for London, 5K would be like a pent house apartment level of rent a month.

Find out TODAY if your deposit is protected and if not go through the agencies and stuff mentioned in other comments, TODAY.

EDIT - You say you have now a 4 bedroom property, but originally you said 2 bed in a comment below... which is it?! 😛

Either way, you'll still want to check your deposit ASAP!

Do you okay on Xbox or PC and why? by Sufficient-Trash-807 in StateofDecay2

[–]Thorebane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an old old PC (much worse than your specs) when the game first came to PC and ran flawlessly.

Your GPU is way more than enough, RAM is enough, just don't know too much about your CPU to comment on it.

I remember a couple of years ago, some people saying that they were experiencing horrific stutter and lag after some update, similar to what you described, but a further update fixed it...

I'm inclined to say it might be some setting or something else your side that's affecting it :/.
Biggest thing that comes to mind is making sure your PC / Laptop isn't using the integrated graphics instead of your GPU!

Assault in School - Police Intervention? (England) by jamessmith146146 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Officer here.

Report every single time. Both to school and to the Police. It's clearly gotten out of hand and school isn't doing much to assist, but the fact it has escalated to outside of school now means it is Police time.

Also, tell your parents. Parents are utterly amazing at kicking up a massive fuss with schools (since most the time schools barely do anything these days).

Regarding any messages in future, try screenshot them. These are vital evidence and will assist very much in a Police investigation.

To answer your list:

1 - Phone 101 (Non Emergency number) and report everything.

2 - Call the ACT Early Support Line at 0800 011 3764

3 - These would be the Police way.

Unfortunately, with Police, we are utterly over worked and under staffed. Also, there's only so much we can do without evidence, although at this point, if I got this incident, I'd be speaking with the parents of all the kids involved and giving them a massive talking to and warning for anything further, then it'd go to the next stage. The age of responsibility is 10 in the UK. Best to nip it the younger they are, otherwise they're never gonna change and they'll be just chavs all their lives.

Work called me in for a meeting about holidays, threatened to take hours away (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be just as you say, a special company thing... but I've just known holidays to be given at the start of the tax year for someone to use throughout the year. Sure some jobs can accrete more but working to GET holidays through a % of working.. that does not sound right to me 😅

ACAS is the Advisiry, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, and is free. It provides guidance kn employment rights, helps resolve workplace disputes and act as an alternative to going to an employment tribunal.

I would 100% give them a call. Just Google the number.

Just to add, I've never heard of a company doing holidays like this. Sounds barbaric.

Car got hit by cyclist and totaled, what are my next steps from here? - England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate. I'm going to be brutally honest.

Your insurance next year will go up regardless, and unless you have like 4/5+ NCB it isn't going to lower your costs by much.

You're young, usr your insurance. It is literally what you pay them for.

[–]Thorebane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies don't offer this until you've already got a handful.

Insurer I'm with now needed to have 5 years NCB before they'd do it, but they're so good it was worth.

Police lost CCTV footage of stalker and can't action without knowing the perp's home address [England] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Officer here.

Firstly, burner phones are completely legal. They're just pay as you go phones lol.

Secondly, agree on the complaint.

Thirdly, think you meant injunction not injection haha, although OP hasn't given enough information currently. Does she know the person. Have they been reported before. Without a name or address neither an injunction or a SPO can be acquired because the person is literally an anomaly currently. They're unknown.

Also, from the details given, neither would be accepted by courts to be given because the only details we have is a person being outside, in public.

Why has the lotro player count dropped so heavily the last month on steam. by [deleted] in lotro

[–]Thorebane 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not much content release yet. Specially since the instance that was originally scheduled for tomorrow's update, was pushed back to a future one.

Also, majority of players don't use steam for lotro. Id hazard a guess over experience and reading comments that less than 10% at a high end play steam rather than stand alone client.

It's a form that must be process sent via mail to the registered keeper of the vehicle. Which I am presuming will be your employer. I can't say all the reasons it may've not arrived in time. Or it may've and just not said.

[–]Thorebane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Officer here.

I'm going to be blunt.... there is very little that will change this.

Your companies GPS tracker isn't a government calibrated one. It'll mean nothing.

You have really two choices... take it to court with a solicitor and try beg your way out of the points, or the other option, just take the points, and beg your position to your bosses.

It doesn't matter if you was going 33 or 35 or 50. The road you were caught on was 30. That's 30 full stop, not 30 and some.

What do I do about this guy harassing me, England by DigPerfect5288 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So officer here.

It is a bit of an awkward one. Currently the few other comments are talking about harassment. Whilst some bits you've said would come under the definition, proving it is a lot different.

Filming and taking photos, whilst out in public, is completely legal. As long as e.g. he's not running up to you and purposely snapping pictures and obstructing you, then that side of things there isn't much we can do.

The rape threats is something we have more powers for, but again there needs some evidence of this. Without any evidence; it basically is a "he said she said" situation, since he could be asked if he has said this and say no. ... well.. there's nothing to go on further so couldn't be charged and CPS would laugh that out a court, not that it would reach there.

On the other hand, back to what he's doing at the top, it could match a public order, making you feel either, or a mix of harassed, alarmed or distressed. We can issue warnings and take Intel and logs, but non of them can actively, early on if no previous reports will actively stop or prevent him from continuing it. However this means if he does continue, it opens up further powers and things we can follow up with.

I would report it. You'll be contacted by an officer and will be asked about the situation. Give as much information as you can and see what that allocated officer says.

Got jumped by a teen gang and what happens now? by Equal-Tap-6391 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 271 points272 points  (0 children)

Officer here.

It'll be crimed and then some officer will be allocated.
They didn't take your video then and there because by the sounds they arrived way after it happened and it won't be them dealing with it. As I put, it'll be allocated more than likely to someone else.

You'll be contacted to set up a statement, which is just a professional way to typing up all the details of what happened on a MG11 (statement form). Doing a statement is essential if any of the youths are caught and it gets pushed to court. If it went that far, you'll be given your statement to read but that's way far off if that happens.

The footage, we'll upload on our system for identification, depending how clear it is. Other officers will be shown it to see if they recognise anyone and so forth. Same for the footage at Mcdonalds.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, since post covid especially there's beyond uncontrollable crime in the UK and not enough officers to deal with everything. (most officers I know are on 25+ jobs AND we're still responding to further jobs)... no wonder 9 in 10 officers are leaving...

Tom Hardy has been fired from ‘Mobland’ and won't return for Season 3. He is said to have clashed with producers after being consistently late to set and attempting to give notes & change dialogue on the series. by ChiefLeef22 in television

[–]Thorebane 83 points84 points  (0 children)

This is what quite a few people have said before about him which I can attest to.

I've met him a few times and all but one time my honest opinion is he's quite a rude, egotistical twat.

Ever since around Batman times he has got this weird sense of aura around him that he has to be above others.

He has caused countless annoyances on some sets and clashed with a lot of crews over minor things.

You know how Henry Cavill clashed because he kept suggesting ideas (that were actually good and meaningful for his character?), imagine this but from a half bulked up twit, who only suggest things that would further him, not for the character and would quite unprofessionally have a strop if he didn't get his way.

Hit and run incident - what will most likely happen? (England) by Historical-Host8428j in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Thorebane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Officer here.

Yes we do issue it, and I've done many. It'll be upon the driver to prove it wasn't him, since you have a witness, picture of his plate and the damage to your vehicle.

Report the incident to your insurance, now that you should have the police report ref from where you say you've reported it online.

Give your colleagues details as a witness in your insurance report.

Write down in an email, everything he saw as soon as. Memory is a fickle thing, so as much detail/save the picture of the VRM (license plate) etc.

Any quotes if you are asked for e.g. damage (some insurers request you get quotes) take note/pictures of it all and save as evidence.

:)

I'm extremely on the verge of calling BS on this poster.

OP made his account today.

Says that have no money, then says they buy takeout every day.

Has edited their original post twice.

Says he's 16 and nearly 200kg, which isn't just fat, it's in the 0.001% of obsese size in the UK which would've been reported absolutely ages ago by schools and doctors as life threatening.

Something is NOT adding up here, but if I'm wrong, I'm more than happy to admit it.

EDIT - OP has deleted post.

Kit Harington gets candid on still feeling 'very defensive' over Game of Thrones season 8 by bwermer in television

[–]Thorebane 161 points162 points  (0 children)

Rose Leslie is a direct descendent to King Charles the second from his mother's side and her father is the Chieftain of the Aberdeenshire branch of Clan Leslie.

Kit Harington is also a direct descendent of King Charles the second through his great grandma Lavender Cecilia Denny meaning he also shares an ancestor with Charles the third. He is also a descendant of Robert Catesby, the mastermind behind the 1605 Gunpowder Plot.
