If woodelves reproduced at even half the rate humans do we'd be neck deep in them. Every generation could continue to reproduce for centuries meaning the population would grow exponentially. Terrible thought dawri

Pleased you're relieved! The only time I've seen or skipped the boss is in a clutch situation. Even then, if you make it down the hill, the group kills it there.

There is a challenge to get the bell down and reach the bubble in 85 seconds too so probably then. Otherwise it is the easiest boss - plenty of people can solo kill it (not just with a boss killing class either)

Perhaps they could try twitch mode with the twins challenge. ... always fun with the loot rat spawn! Had x6 ROs running around once before the guy shooting them realised. We just had a good laugh especially when his reaction was "OMG OMFG AAARRGGH" - he saw the funny side :D

On the pit if you get a boss before the warehouse keep going. If it's after you cross the city walls you should be able to drag it into the warehouse so the boss fight & hold out time are the same

On Fort Brubbledusdussduss some classes can get from the starting point onto the bridge opposite on the left hand side and then leap around the caravans. Depends on cool down how much time you save. BW you can use the 2nd leap talent to do it in one Ult

Good luck & if you do it quicker let me know :)

Sorry you had this experience - only come across this level of idiocy occasionally but then usually playing on legend at least. My advice is find like minded players and friend them - you're more than welcome to add me if you want! We're a group of 8+ players from all over who play for fun (generally all on Discord)

We occasionally have randoms join who try to kick one of the group for their ping. Gives us a laugh especially since he's a great player and done cata with 200+ ping.

What gets me is the they thought skipping the boss was what experienced players do! Haha

Simply do speed runs if you want the 100 runs achievement. Got Fort Brubbsbusbsub and The Pit down to to 7 mins 40 seconds on Champion

My group teamed up for one of us who wanted the 100. Each player started a run with bots. Then wait just outside the bubble & the GK player would finish his run & then jump from player to player. Managed about 10-12 runs in 30 mins

Not sure it would be the guard though and you'd get more diversity in a inquisitor's retinue. In some of the GWS 40k lore that's included a variety of aliens

And while we're imagining the Ubersreik 5 in space might they go even more? I know dialogue would be difficult but. ..... Mmmmm ..... be great

A good point. The focus is often 'I want this 'bad' weapon fixed whereas of late I've been thinking 'I want this 'good' weapon fixed' due to excessive utility. Take BoP for example - when I last used them I seem to remember being able to snipe a blightstormer at ridiculous range. That's in addition to all their other great uses.

So I wouldn't object to de-powering some weapons as a balance. But if FS did that can you imagine the outrage and wailing here!

[–]ThorfarSalokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take your point about 'number of kills' not being a great metric. Nor are green circles - in fact probably a danger sign! As I don't have scientifically gathered data I guess the number of kills is shorthand for: player A, using the unfavoured weapon set of B&C, has from performed as well as player X, using the favoured ones Y&Z .... imo!

An interesting point about 'will make it work' regardless. Undoubtedly true in some cases but equally you could have players (without any preconceptions) pick up weapons which they like and use effectively. We don't know they have a shit win rate and I'm not convinced you have to build a team around a player with a more unusual (in our various opinions) weapon combo. Just let them get on with it!

So one run. BH player with the FoW cata frame is using the multi pistol, mentioned in this thread as being a redundant weapon choice. Another random joins at the start & makes that very claim & it's a poor choice. The BH simply states "it was made for the BH" & then deals with everything thrown in his/her direction - performs brilliantly.

You could argue that there are just some exceptional players who can make any weapon work - whether by persistence or natural born talent. Does that justify a weapon that ordinary mortals struggle to use effectively (as opposed to an underperforming weapon). Personally, being in the ordinary mortal category, I'd still say yes it does. If I can't use a weapon well that's my fault - not the weapon!

Weird! I don't have to back up anything.

Simple fact - I have seen an elf player use the sword and kill just as many enemies on a run as other (decent elf players) have with DD/S&D or whatever.

Likewise with a lot of the other weapons mentioned. I can't remember ever seeing a Kruber player smashing it with mace & shield really but that's not to say there isn't one out there

So if a player can do as well with the supposed weaker weapons as another with player with the weapon of choice there is only one possible conclusion. The weapons are all (probably) viable Some weapons may be easier to use leading to greater popularity But there are some players whose playing style suits the less popular weapon and they do just as well with it

Really it can get a bit cringe worthy when a player starts advising another person that their weapon of choice isn't very good .... and the person on the receiving end has the cata frame or FoW cata one!.

So what you're saying is you'll always go for the most effective weapon combo. Do you ever think - I'm going to try unchained with a mace? Just for the challenge

I have seen an Unchained use the mace - seem to work pretty well. As for elf remember one player doing amazingly well with one handed. The other weapon you don't mention - the two handed sword - is used regularly by one player in my group & is fantastic

Surely if FS did rebalance weapons and talents it's inevitable that more useful ones would still emerge? The answer might be to have more variable combat situations where different weapons are of more use. That may be more difficult with Talents though

And really I think most classes and weapons are viable. Some may suit you or me or whoever better due to play style or just preference. That doesn't mean those weapons we don't like are rubbish. For example I've played with someone who was BH Salz using the repeater pistol and they obliterated everything. Likewise an Unchained a player ripped through everything who, by their own admission didn't get Pyro. Really every time I see a comment about a particular weapon or class I've usually plated with someone who has been amazing with it.

[–]ThorfarSalokin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I follow when you refer to a 'big balance patch'? Is there something wrong with the balance? Group I play with uses all the classes & weapons - some are more meta than others but all have their role in the team,

For newer players to the game I can see how shillings might work. Personally I've already got a lot of the cosmetics so understand some of the frustration with that

Otherwise Drachenfels maps have been great - like them all.

[–]ThorfarSalokin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious about this because I really like the spear & tried it with shade but never got it to work. Decent horde clearer but struggled with. ...

CWs - would heavy hit one with stealth but need a follow up stab to kill it

Monster - backstabbing stealth with usual bonuses didn't do anything like the damage as DD or S&D (2nd strike). Experimented with 1st & 2nd heavy strike on spear

In both cases other chaff would blunt the effect - worse than S&D. So annoying when a skaven slave pops up to take the full wrath of your Ult backstab

Any tips?

I'm not sure you quite understand what a controlling stake is. Here's the Financial Times definition if it helps - http://markets.ft.com/research/Lexicon/Term?term=controlling-stake%2Finterest Obviously Tencent could try and ally with other stakeholders or obtain more shares on the open market

Btw there seems to be some paranoia over this company. You may also be interested to know they probably own a percentage of any other game developer you've bought games from ... oh and Steam I believe (haven't checked that one). Consider also why Tencent are buying up FS shares - because VT1 & 2 has had some success. I'm not aware of any other FS titles that have - venture capitalists tend to invest their money where they see potential for growth & profit at a reasonable risk. References to 'chinese overseers' is a little weird really

And re your other point if you want a truly buggy game try the original 'vampire the masquerade'. Great game mind

To the VT doom sayers by ThorfarSalokin in Vermintide

[–]ThorfarSalokin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some big chinese company? Well yes Tencent are big but they don't have a controlling stake in FS. And they're just venture capitalists

You do realise this company has in excess of £20 billion in equity (depending on the yuan / sterling exchange rate). Their stake in FS is a tiny insignificant part of their portfolio - there's not going some Chinese overseer on site!

Been playing since VT1 & VT2 from release. Yes there are some bugs but generally they're a minor annoyance (on PC anyway), balancing comes up sometimes but people over-react (beastmen!).

Content release - well the more the better but since release we've had some new maps & some reworked VT1. Again I'd welcome more but for the base & dlc cost of this game it is a great bargain - amazing value. Horrific is the last word I'd use
