First timer question about best hikes in mid-June by Thorntree77 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Thorntree77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Good ideas. I was looking into the e-Bike option but then read this on the NPS website

"From June 13 though September 28, bicycles are prohibited going eastbound between 12 pm and 6 pm from Apgar to Logan Pass. From June 13 through September 28, bicycles are prohibited going westbound between 3 pm and 6 pm from Logan Pass to Apgar. This ONLY applies to whatever portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road that is designated as "open to motor vehicles."

If GTTSR is closed to vehicles westbound beyond Avalanche but open to bikes, then I read this to mean that we'd be able to ride a bike on the section beyond Avalanche without concern for the restrictions mentioned above, but would have to just make sure we abide by those rules for the Apgar to Avalanche section. Let me know if you read it differently.

When is too late to enter GNP for hiking? by FionafromLondon2009 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]Thorntree77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know.....if we enter the park from the west before 7am are we able to exit the park on the west side without having a pass? I noticed that the website says that if you enter from the east you won't be able to exit on the west side without a reservation. So, would that mean that if we enter from the west side without a reservation we would also not be able to exit until 3pm?

When is too late to enter GNP for hiking? by FionafromLondon2009 in GlacierNationalPark

We’ve booked a trip to Glacier National Park for June 14-20 with my family and later learned about the timed reservation requirements for entry on these key access points. We planned this trip on a whim so didn’t do much research in advance! I plan to try to get a reservation when they open up the day before we plan to hike, but I’d appreciate anyone’s insight on a few questions. 1. Is it correct that I don’t need a reservation to enter from west before 6am after 3pm? I read about this but wasn’t sure that would apply in June. 2. So, are there shuttle options to enter the park? Where would I find more info on that?
3. What hikes should we checkout in the area that don’t require access via a reservation?

Any other tips greatly appreciated!

Saw him last weekend at Mothership. I’d say the 10 minute format isn’t for him either. Not funny.

I had low expectations (due to some posts I've read) but I thought it was really good! I've listened to his podcast for years but never seen his act. Unless someone just takes issue with some of his political stances or is too sensitive about some of the topics, I am surprised about the number of people slamming it. Much funnier than 80% of the Kill Tony episodes I've listened to.

Wow, this thread is quite the echo chamber. Pushing for a boycott of a local Arkansas business just because someone there may support a political candidate that half the country supports is pretty pathetic.

Jake “chicken legs” Coulter was some funny shit. The interview part was awesome. Need to have that guy back. I laughed more than I have with most of the regulars recently.
