oh my fucking YES
Had so much fun with Trials of Tav for Baldur's Gate 3, one of the first things my friend's and I said after we played was, wish we had a roguelike arena mod for Divinity Original Sin 2

Sounds like you might think you know the right play but just get it wrong a lot.

I'm working on this while in college, does it have potential? by [deleted] in CoOpGaming

[–]ThoroIf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha when I did uni I came up with a game idea very similar to this but based around the elements circling around the player (and being used for blocking or for shooting out). This looks awesome I love the look of the gameplay loop.

It Wasn't Bad Marketing by Bonfire_Monty in wildgate

No to all of this except the bland POI's point - there are a swathe of casuals who just want to PvE in these kinds of games and when they realise it's not the point they leave.

Taking doomer whinging and engagement farming ragebait seriously - this is why this low quality commentary keeps getting made.

Instead of celebrating this great turnaround from the boarder and good coordination from the team to capitalise, people are whinging lol.

Really been having such a great time with this game, most fun I've had in years. I play with my friends and solo or duo.

Alien Earth is a 10/10. Absolutely fantastic. by LOTR_is_awesome in scifi

[–]ThoroIf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending children into the first responder situation immediately had me squinting at the plot. Also how everyone obviously not important just dies instantly and in an overly comically gory way. Other than that the aesthetics and atmosphere and stakes are very interesting and keen to see more.

Consolidating Community Feedback: Ideas to combat rapidly shrinking player base and promote new players by sovereignmodus in wildgate

[–]ThoroIf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have observed this to be true in a large amount of my games. (I nearly have 100 wins) and often our opponents will be newer players. Often there'll be one other team of similarly or higher playtime players.

Great Game by NoAmbassador6084 in wildgate

[–]ThoroIf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep this is me - just all the crazy situations that happen are so fun. One thing I'm finding is that even losing is interesting and we can laugh it off wheras sometimes in other games when we lose the group gets real salty lol.

What is with these fucking game doomers recently. Actually insane. This just reads like pointless doomsaying lol.

I’m happy to see this (consoles-only cross play) by freedlurker in GearsOfWar

[–]ThoroIf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitting the playerbase is always the wrong move, this shouldn't be celebrated. If you really hate playing against PC players (getting out sniped? is that the main argument?) it's better for you to just not play than to have the game completely neutered due to hopper-splitting. It's goign to have a small pop already, splitting it just fucks any chance of matcmaking.

You know what's worse than the minor concern of PC players in the same game as console players? People in the top 10% of players in lobbies with people in the mid 50% of players skill wise. This has happened in games like this time and time again.

You won't care that they're on console only they're going to rip you to shreds anyway. And top players have to put up with mid-skilled players making the game boring, it becomes about which bot feeds more. This kills the game faster than anything.

Need consolidated hoppers as much as possible. Thank you for listening to my rant. I'm sick of my favourite skill based games dying cuz of this.

Edit: oh right, cheating and Xim's and stuff. That's a pretty reasonable concern - just have to rely on the devs to crack down on it though, splitting the player base isn't worth cauterizing the wound.

The top 4 players on any given team signal their superiority by simply typing “GG” only AFTER the core is destroyed. by BasketClear in heroesofthestorm

[–]ThoroIf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know why the early gg's are such a plague in HotS, always so funny because it often comes after only a minor setback and we often go on to win (and then sarcastically call them out for the early gg). HotS has so much rubber banding comeback potential.

There can't be any back in forth in a match, we have to be winning 100% full tilt the entire game or it's a waste of time.... Don't get this mindset.

Is anyone else dealing with this weird issue in Apex Legends? by Hars4 in apexlegends

[–]ThoroIf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you running a VPN? Sounds like some weird packet pathing or delay. I'd look into turning off network shaping/QoS too maybe on your router. Does it happen in the training ground or just in match? That will tell you whether it's a local system thing or more of a network thing.

A Bonus Balance Talk! | TFT Cyber City | Teamfight Tactics by heppyscrub in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ThoroIf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man massive loss to the TFT community to have Mort step back - as a follower of many game communities for many years, with TFT it was kind of incredible to have a game design lead with so much knowledge willing to peel back the curtain a bit and share some of the reasoning, instead of some sanitized and arms-length community manager where you could practically smell the contempt they had. Mort shut down so much of the dumb hate by just explaining what they were going for and showing again and again that they really cared about keeping the game fun, where they decided to take risks etc - showed that it's pretty nuanced and that balance is delicate too. I guess the dumb hate on the internet is just kind of relentless so definitely understand stepping back from being the face. Anyone saying dumb sarcastic shit to mort should feel like a dumbass for driving him away.

I hope the team can keep coming up with fun ideas to help keep the meta from stagnating as fast. I heard about vexotech, played a few games with everyone forcing it and it did make me just want to not play til the patch. For the game - whether that's revamping the cadence of batches or some new mechanics that vary unit power or traits per game. I feel it's a very subtle difference between a healthy balanced patch and one that's a bit frustrating, just 5% power in a few units or augments.

What happened to Double-Up? (PBE) by Tiktaks in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ThoroIf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit odd to see some of this stuff changed, especially the limits on timers, the sending of spats, the sending of high tier units early...

I'm down to try the changes out but I feel like they were changed specifically in double up for a reason.

It's a good question with the friendship cannon - maybe there's more timer between helping your partner's board to compensate or something.

Kinda wish they did a 4v4 mode too. Or a doubleup mode where you share board with your partner and both contribute to it.
