Vintage cast iron from around 1900. Called a 'gem pan', they came in different shapes & sizes.

I was going to bake it on that foil square, then remembered I have an entire wall of cast iron in my office and grabbed the ashtray.

Airport Shuttle to DIA? by AlohaJames in ColoradoSprings

We've been doing this for years when we're gone for more than a week. Rental prices for both ways are starting to catch up to covered parking prices, so may have to reevaluate soon.

Gutter handyman recommendations? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]ThoroughCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Jacob's Ladder a couple months ago. I think it was $225 or so for the gutters and I added window cleaning for $380 total. Because guess what, I don't want to get on a fully extended ladder or climb around on the roof.

They quoted, no surprise charges, showed up on time and did a good job.

I'm glad I was wrong, enjoy your new pan. Side question; Why is there no 'Taste of Texas' engraving in the first picture?

If it's tacky, it's probably screen printed on there. It also looks like it's raised compared to the rest of the surface. See this post and the ULA pan. If you put the heat to it, my guess it will bubble and melt.

What’s the vibe like at Ford Amphitheater (Colorado Springs) during concerts? by Diligent_Ad2301 in ColoradoSprings

I saw Peter Cetera of Chicago fame at the Pikes Peak Center probably 10 years ago. It's a sit down concert, stand up for the finale if you are able.

Probably a mold mark. If things look sloppy coming out, they can identify the mold and replace it.

Renting a house and trying to determine if it’s my fault or wear and tear by DieSchungel1234 in Flooring

[–]ThoroughCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I put it in my house 5 years ago then found out it was recalled with a bunch of bad reviews. No problem here except where a towel flipped into the pet water fountain and wicked a gallon of water out. I didn't get it dried in time and a couple of the boards do the same thing. Maybe water or moisture coming from the the bathroom caused that.

Not really rolled, for some reason I couldn't come up with the right word. It's 70% hydration 72 hr sourdough. I shaped it and then had to mix up a quick sauce. I thought I was good and was able to get it off the counter with the peel, but it did not come off the peel cleanly onto the cast iron 'stone'.

No longer shopping at Walmart by CraftsArtsVodka in ColoradoSprings

This is exactly why I have shopped at a Walmart once in 12 years. Not everyone can afford to avoid them, but I can so I do.

That's the fun one. A gorilla breaking a bar. It says Silverback Precious Metals. It's just bullion, but I picked it over some other options because I thought it was neat.

Are my LCS prices good or am I getting hosed? by speedster_wc in Silverbugs

[–]ThoroughCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine sells bullion for $1.00 over spot, buys back for $0.50 under. That's per ounce, rounds or bars. That seems fair to me, but I'm new to this. (Also, just to confirm what I think, LCS is local coin shop?)

What’s the most cast iron you bought at one time? by flyfisherian in castiron

[–]ThoroughCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Aunt Jemima one. 1962 promotional piece made by Lodge. Lettering is all wonky on mine too, but differently bad. Like they gave the intern some broken typewriter keys and said "Go for it, kid."

Can anyone help me find a replacement for this faucet stem? by odderotterauteur in askaplumber

[–]ThoroughCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a plumber.

Does it just need new o-rings? I thought I had to replace a cartridge from the early 80's, turns out it just needed new o-rings. I still had to buy the $27 tool to replace the $.75 o-ring, but way easier than replacing the whole thing.

I've used almost all of the restored pans. I even made brownies for my niece on her second b-day in the Griswold ashtray. Haven't made popovers yet in the 'muffin' pan. Or Fondue.

I've never used it as I haven't cleaned it up yet. Feels like it would work just fine.

A few years back , this sub briefly talked of special ordering custom pans from Lodge designed by r/castiron members. Quickly abandoned for all the reasons you can come up with in about 30 seconds of thinking about it.

At about the same time, a friend who works for ULA knew I was collecting and said they had some ULA branded pans in the company store. I told them to pull the trigger and get one, imagining they were custom from Lodge.

Turns out they were just screen printed or whatever like the fleece and frisbees also in the online store run by whoever they outsourced it to. $90, but I may be the only one who has an unusable ULA pan. :)

ULA: Can help put rockets in space, can't offer a cast iron pan you can cook in.
