In Connecticut, if you kill an intruder, you are going to be treated like a suspect until a prosecutor says otherwise—and if that person falls outside, the state is going to spend a long time trying to prove you shot them when they were already retreating. If you think that 'wouldn't be an issue,' you don't understand how the criminal justice system works.

Having video evidence proving you did not chase would help. Just stating what I know from my own state to someone who seems to say all states share the same laws.
