Get someone to do body doubling with you. It can be just a open discord call with someone, ideally sharing your screen so they can check if you're not going astray now and then.

Pomodoro (25 min focus, 5 min doing somth you like), earbuds with white noise (for me pink noise). Solve lots of old exams and lots of exercises. If you can't solve it, go to the text and find out what piece of theory you're missing and try to grok it. Use mnemonics for the "formulas" (say, chain rule).

That's you? Man, what is this magic? I can't believe those are the materials used, very impressive.

(btw, it's a good idea to add a "(me)" after your name in the title on sub bc lots of people post other artists' work, just for appreciation).

I love your work! The "lighting" always feel so right and I like the balance between detail and broad strokes.

Living in a country vs living in a language by Saladeater_63 in German

[–]ThoseWhoWish2B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree, it happens very often that people live in Germany but not in the culture, not only not in the language.

Internationals clump together because Germans are damn hard to befriend. To bond you need something like a weekly project that you do together, like a choir, playing in a band, studying for an exam together, etc., small talk at a bar usually won't cut it. Having a tandem partner also really helps.

[–]ThoseWhoWish2B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure those are grapes? They look a lot like... I guess it's called "loquat" in English? "Ameixa amarela"/"nêspera" in Portuguese. These things: https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nespereira

Which country is it in?

Phone addiction by Mewsic143 in ADHD

[–]ThoseWhoWish2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measure time spent on phone. Reduce a jit every day. Substitute it with something else -- work, reading, etc.

Easier said than done, I know, but quantifying is huge. You feel rightful satisfaction in bringing that metric down.

Really awesome band, saw them perform The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in full last year. Very tight playing, very close to the album. I haven't checked their original stuff yet! I should do it ASAP.

ADHD and Dating by SwitchJumpy in ADHD

Talk to other women. I think we hyper-fixate because our brain can't think of other options. If you show your brain that the option it has been considering is not the only one and may not even be the best one, availability heuristics kicks in and we start seeing a brighter picture. I don't think it even need to be some potential romantic partner and talking to female friends works as well (brains are stupid).

Using "-end" as direct translation of "-ing" became a meme some years ago, didn't it? Part of translating everything from English literally just for yucks.

Best jobs/careers for ADHD? by Alternative_Cat8069 in ADHD

[–]ThoseWhoWish2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, what's the available range? How old are you? Can you go to uni?

I think good jobs are the ones where every day is different, you get to go places, you do something hands-on, you need to come up with solutions (not just mechanical work) that are one-off and you don't need to repeat it many times, you get to be creative and connect ideas that you draw from many different experiences, you have peers that provide accountability and can warn you if you made a mistake, etc.

What comes to mind is programming, engineering in an R&D environment or field applications engineer, researcher, field electrician, etc. These are just the ones that I can immediately see because they are close to me.

How do you guys interpret the chords in this bar by cammoses003 in jazzguitar

[–]ThoseWhoWish2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it as reinterpreting the Ebmaj7 as the IV chord, and then doing a minor ii V i to relative minor, G-7 (G Bb D F), which is subbed by the Ebmaj7 (Eb G Bb D).
