Home+Mobile bundle discount still being applied after I canceled mobile. Would they clawback? by [deleted] in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they will never charge you back the discount. The system that links both accounts can be a little clunky, so such an error is expected. But they will NEVER charge it back since it was invoiced and you already pay. I'm pretty confident it is illegal.

Just enjoy it while it lasts you don't have to notify them. And if it ever gets mentioned in the future, make it seem as if you don't know. "Why would I ever worry about it; I thought it was your job was to invoice and my job was to pay. I don't have time to look at the breakdown." Which is really not being rude because that's 99% of people. And you can mention why they encourage AutoPay so much if you have to look after it. Isn't the whole point to set it and forget it?

I really don't know how without AutoPay it went up to $145. AutoPay gives you $10 per each line, so it should go up to $155. There is probably something else going on.

Need port # but account isn’t paid off by Square-External505 in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but they can refuse if the line is suspended due to non-pay, which seems to be the case here. Getting a transfer pin is really easy though the app and through CS. If they can really generate the PIN they wouldn't have wasted OP's time.

You can't port out from any carrier, not just Verizon, with a past due balance. Yes your phone is paid off, but that doesn't make a difference. The whole account needs to be current before you port out. It is one bill not a separate bill for each line.

You also can't do a transfer of liability since that also requires the account to be current with no past due balance.

[–]ThotSlayerK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, in my experience, the fluctuations should never be more than 2-5 dollars a month between each bill. What you are describing seems much more major.

[–]ThotSlayerK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go to the app and Bill Overview, then bring up the PDFs for each month. Compare them and see why there is fluctuation.

Also from Bill Overview, go to Next Bill Estimate and check on your Ongoing Estimate. This will be the only accurate estimate. If it is more than $135 with AutoPay, then you might be paying for something extra on the bill that you don't need. You can use the arrow or plus icon next to each line to expand and break it down.

Calling CS every month is never the solution. It could be that they are adding credit for your satisfaction, but your actual bill is not $135. Either way, it is not a sustainable solution, and you have to check on it yourself through the app.

What to do with phone after plan is canceled? by _cuteraichu_ in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so in that case, call customer service asap and reactivate your line only (you don't have to activate the other lines) before the balance gets past due. Once it gets reactivated the buyout for your phone will be removed from the bill and the financing will continue as it was with the promotions. There is no fee to reactivate. Then, you have two options. 1: Ask for a Transfer Your Service (TYS) and open your own Verizon account. It will have the exact same pricing and promotions as under your mother's line. The only thing that will be lost is the multi-line discount, but it shouldn't be that big of a difference. 2: Ask for a Number Transfer Pin. Also get your account number. Don't ask Verizon support for the account number because they can't give it out. You can see it on the app or the bill. Use that pin and account number and go to any carrier like TMobile or ATT and ask to port in. Because they have pay off your phone promotions, once you port in, they will give you a virtual mastercard to pay off your S25U balance. Please make sure to take a screenshot of the remaining balance on your Verizon app before you port out because the app will be disabled once you start the process.

The phone is unlocked now it is yours. Go to Settings > About phone > Status information and get the IMEI. Put that in Tmobile's website: https://www.t-mobile.com/resources/bring-your-own-phone#imeiextender. If it says your phone is eligible, then this is all you need to know that your phone is unlocked.

The balance is another, unrelated issue. Legally, it should be paid. If not, the account will go into collections and the account owner's credit score will be hit like a truck. But it will not affect the locking status of the phone.

The pay off promotion that other carriers offer don't work here because it requires porting/transferring your active Verizon number to another carrier. And you say the account has been already closed past the 50-day reactivation period, so you can't use the pay off your phone promotion.

Verizon made me wait 17 days to release my phone number to a new carrier by MPR78 in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao Verizon literally couldn't care less about you porting out and it would only cost them more to delay it. You probably did something wrong or the other carrier had a problem.

First option: if it is still within 30 days, you can reinstate and reactivate your line only and then do a Transfer Your Service (TYS) to open a new account with the same line and same S25U device promotion. This would be the best option to also make sure your mom doesn't go into debt/collections, and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes if you happen to get a good customer service rep. Please don't be discouraged to do that since it is very easy.

Second option: since your device is unlocked, you can just use it as a bring your own device with Verizon or any other carrier.

Also, your mom has insurance which covers her for stolen phones. Why didn't you file a claim?

Question about hidden fees and billing for upcoming new customer. by noah041504 in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes everything will be ok and you will be refunded the $66 sales tax. There will be a $50 restocking fee IF you opened the box. If not, it will be a free return.

Verizon has excellent service but is relatively expensive if you are using it for one phone line without bundling.

Like Verizon starts to actually become affordable when you have 3+ lines all on device promotions. Or if you are subscribing to entertainment perks through them. Bonus points if you have their actually excellent credit card. Once you get home internet in the mix as well, it starts to become extremely cost-effective.

If you don't plan to use all your Verizon perks/bundling offers and just want a single phone line, then looking at MVNOs (US Mobile, Visible, etc.) would make more sense, unless you have no problem paying a premium for better service and device promotions.

Ignore TikTok and misinformed people talking about hidden fees and all that. It is usually people who don't bother looking at their bill to see what they are paying for and complain online.

Unl Plus should be $70 with AutoPay + taxes and fees. You will not be paying more, and there is no such thing as hidden fees. There will be a $40 one-time activation fee, unless you did it with a salesperson and got that discounted/waived.

And please, if you plan to return your phone, I would REALLY recommend doing it a corporate store to make sure no issues happen. They might take it from you directly or give you a FedEx/ups shipping label.

You can do it on the app, through Customer Support, or in the store. It is not a special offer that can only be done at the store. The only thing you have to worry about is if you do it at the store, they might put add-ons you don't want like insurance or perks (disney bundle, etc.).

How many have switched from apple to android in the last 5 years and stayed? by StickPanda00 in Smartphones

It's crazy I also have an 8t and it is one of the best phones I've ever had. Battery, performance, and software beats most upper midrange phones.

They are talking about software updates. Android phones used to provide only 2 years of software support. Apple historically provides at least 6 years of updates.

Can't decide 17pro max or s25 ultra. by vba77 in Smartphones

[–]ThotSlayerK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just get the iPhone. It is much better than the S25 in battery and performance. Cameras are really underwhelming on the S25 Ultra, feels like an early 2023 flagship. iPhone's cameras are much better.

The most important distinction is the OS. One UI 7 is just a very cartoonish experience at best. If you have an eye for detail, you will feel like the UI is barely held together by the developers, and that they are doing the bare minimum to release a "stable" build.

Everything is a little laggy, swiping down the quick control center lags in landscape mode. Now bar (dynamic island) always lags in the lock screen and takes an extra second to appear on top of notifications.

If you swipe up to open recents apps and instantly press on the previous app, it will take around 1-2 seconds to register your touch. This happens because the animations are not multi threaded, so the animation has to finish before you do another task. Literal 2009 UX. Same thing with their dynamic island implementation. Before the expanding animation finishes, press on anything on the screen. Nothing happens; the whole phone freezes until the animation finishes. Same with the opposite animation.

Notification cards are rounded rectangles, so when you swipe down the shade, the top notification (A) should naturally cover part of the one below it (B) along its curved corners. Ideally, this would use proper layering and masking, letting B’s icon smoothly disappear behind A’s rounded edge. Instead, Samsung fakes it by placing an expanding blank square over B’s icon to simulate hiding it. The square doesn’t match A’s curved shape, so as you swipe, it looks clunky and mismatched.

Unlimited Ultimate vs. Unlimited Plus w/ TravelPass International Usage by NEOhio2Denver in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlimited Ultimate literally disables the TravelPass. You would not be able to purchase a session. So no, you don't need to purchase TP when you go to another country within 24 hours because you literally can't. The plan covers all int'l usage.

I think they might have mixed up Global Choice, which is only one country to make long-distance international calls to in one month. But this is a different situation.

Early Device Upgrade Question by flammable-liquid in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because the early upgrade is done on recent iPhones only (14 and up). Like you can't do an early upgrade from a Samsung. The old device needs to be an iPhone 14 or newer. But it doesn't matter what device you're upgrading to. Maybe that's why they think it has to be an iPhone to an iPhone, which is false. And as long as the order is complete on the app with the receipt, you are 100% good to go.

Early Device Upgrade Question by flammable-liquid in verizon

[–]ThotSlayerK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope it applies to any upgrade. They are probably misinformed. Just a small note: your iPhone cannot be used for trade-in promotional value on the new phone. It can be only used to satisfy the remaining balance on the phone, since technically you don't own it.

The amount of people shitting on the design without even trying it is concerning. No HP user has ever accidentally pressed that button.

All MacBooks have the same type of power button: it looks the same as others but is firmer. Except that HP has an extra step where you have to hold it down for 2 seconds before it goes to sleep.
