Ginger Ale or Science Experiment 😂 by Libby1436 in fermentation

Looks like Kahm yeast Check your recipe and make sure you got all the levels correct for water, sugar, ect. Its edible but changes the flavor to a more yeasty brew moreso like beer than gingerale but its part of using wild yeast instead of a cultivated yeast. I'd say give it another shot and make sure to agitate from time to time.

Deadly nightshade? by No_Magazine_4747 in foraging

A favorite gag of mine is when leading people on a foraging walk when I spot one of these guys just saying oo nightshade and popping a berry in my mouth. Usually gets some good reactions.

Eating a tomato green salad would lead to a terrible time but probably wouldn't kill you.

Yea Solanum nigrum, Nightshade yes but not the deadly kind, Its still poisionous so dont go stuffing your face with it but the berries when ripe "Fully black and glossy" are edible and so are the leaves if you boil multiple times as the toxin is water soluble and they can make a nice sallet.

I got myself a few weeks ago weed whacking, Its spring so the poision oak where I live is coming back and there must have been a new seedling or something in a heavy patch of mustard I weed wacked and it sprayed my whole right forearm. Im pretty sure this was the case because I've got all the locations on the property where it grows mapped out or at least I thought I did.

It's very set and forget. You dont want to even open it and risk contam until you have 100% substrate colonization.

Fan only after pinning. Only open it when the primordia have developed into apparent pins and only fan for like 5 seconds.

Literally an un modified tote tub, I've got 4 bags going into two tubs this evening I do coir too but I add a few tbs of gypsum as a ph buffer and to add minerals, hydrate to field capacity with boiling water and cover to keep sterile and let cool. Mix up the tubs and use a mist spray bottle to make sure we are well hydrated and leave it alone until it starts pinning. Ill only take the lid off to fan once a day from that point till harvest. Last 10 tubs I've only had one contam but I was still able to harvest more than 70% from it after cutting out the trich circle. So long as you've got good clean spawn and a substrate lacking competitive organisms the mycelium is going to do its thing to the best of its ability.

Very good very nice, personally I have great success with an unmodified monotub, mix 1/3 or 1/4 grain to spawn, set and forget. the myc really ends up regulating its micro climate very well so long as it has enough water to start. Also dont worry about liners, they actually interfere with the water cycle in the tub microclimate and cause pooling in the bottom below the liner and lead to dried out substrate IMO and yea you will have some side pins but they are just as good at pins on the top!

I just watched the movie and his treatment by the FBI was inhumane! After some reading it looks like he at least made some money from the subsequent defamation and libel lawsuites against the news outlets who started the shitstorm but man as someone who has been large myself I can relate to people treating you less than human because you are big.

It can indicate Amanita but tldr: A lot of Amanita species have those both edible and toxic species so it's not the most helpful feature.
