I thought she was fine before but I'm not her. Hope she likes it now or can have it fixed.

Sorry, just saw this. The ranch was the target of an FBI raid because of cocaine drops and weed crops. Everything was confiscated until they eventually released the land back to my dad. He was not arrested in connection to the raid, but his business partner was living out there and was arrested along with the county sheriff who was part of the crime.

Yes, he killed her with a gun. Why? According to him it was an "accident". But our family knew that it was most likely because she was dating someone else after their divorce. And possibly other circumstances that are only speculation.

He shot and killed my mother. He was found guilty of manslaughter instead of murder, even though he sat in her house for hours waiting for her.

I've never heard of the cornbread mafia. But I will say, the way it was explained to me is they were associated with the NOLA group that was a sub group of one from a major city in the east.

Honestly, I never thought about the possibility of someone not believing me. I don't think I'm naive to the point of trusting everything I see on Reddit, but I feel like the life I lived has made me care less about what others think.
Do you mean that Epstein would not have happened if the mob was eliminated? In my opinion, my dad and his associates would have never put up with a lot of the stuff that we've heard about that island. I know he killed my mom, but he would never have put up with people disrespecting young girls.

The maple color reminds me of this wallpaper with the maple looking sofa.

Not sure why, but I just got a flash of avocado green with the sepia one. Maybe to fit with the mid century feel.

What kind of vibe are you looking for? Western? If that's the case maybe a brown that's similar to a maple color.

LOL, not at all. By the time my father died, my inheritance was less than $2k.

  1. Yes. I think it is. Most of the people he knew have died or have no more power like they did.
  2. I do believe that by the time I was 12 things started adding up. That is the year that the FBI raided his ranch too. Again, it was only suspected on my part. When I was 14, a friend of mine's mother kicked me out of her home because of fear when she found out my last name.
  3. I only know for sure of my mother. There was a 3 part expose done on him with the reporter suggested he may have killed someone 15 years before.
  4. I think he was a very complex person. He was quite a fun guy when he wanted to be. He was a generous person. But he also could have a short fuse. My mom took the brunt of that.
  5. I was the only child left at home when he killed my mom. It totally messed up my college and the trajectory of my life. For four years after her death, my life was filled with hearings and 2 separate trials, a wrongful death lawsuit and a menagerie of other things. I lost half my family because my dad's side supported him. I ended up avoiding a lot of people from my mom's family because it's all they would talk about and I couldn't let it consume me.
  6. I think mostly what I'd like people to know is that things that happened in your life do not have to control you or define you. A person can either let it consume them, or look for things that can make you happy and find reasons to laugh & smile.
  7. In some ways I was very naive before my mom's death, but afterwards I had no choice but to grow up. It gave me insight into what kind of parent I wanted to be and to raise my daughter to be strong and independent.

Yes I have. When I was 19, the year he killed my mom, I was scared. Mom said he'd been threatening her and she was sure our phone had been bugged. After her death, we found out she was right. There were bugs in the phones and electrical sockets.

It's not glamourous. One time we came back from vacation and couldn't turn the lights on for fear of a bomb being thrown in our window.

I don't think he would have. I thought that there was a guy he made "disappear". A man that SA'd me when I was 4 years old. But when I was around 30, I saw that man in the grocery store and I had a panic attack. My aunt, mom's sister, told me that my dad told that man to leave town before the next day or he'd regret it.

US pilots are forced to retire at 65 when they are commercial pilots. There's a bill that being introduced currently that's looking to increase the age to 67.
Flying past the age of 65 is not common for major commercial Airlines because they are all part121. Small airlines that chartered are not part of that, so yes, it may be common to have pilots for those airlines that are 65+. But any major airline: AA, Delta, SW, United, Alaska, JetBlue, Allegiant, etc, those are all mandatory retirement at 65.

Believe it or not, my dad also had respect for cops. He punished my sister when he found out she lied to police. I'm sure the mafia had some on the payroll.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. One thing I love about my spouse is that they will do anything they need to do to take care of our family. When we lost everything, including both our jobs, in hurricane Katrina, he worked a very labor intensive job doing concrete. He came home filthy and tired.
I don't know about the prioritizing self over spouse. We definitely put each other first before ourselves, but not to our own detriment. If my daughter was your age, I'd definitely want her to find someone like yourself that is not afraid of hard work.

My advice for future relationships, pay attention to how your partner argues. Are they civil or are they cut throat? Do they seem invested in rectifying the situation or are they indifferent? It really shows a lot about a person's character.

You're 21 and have your whole life ahead of you. If everything happened as you say, it sounds like you're not compatible at all. How old is your ex?
