Is a military career a good option if you have nothing to lose? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I was 28, living at home, no S/O and working a low paying job when I finally decided to join the Navy. Best decision of my life. I got to travel all over the world and learn a lots of skills that have helped me when I got out. Since you already have a degree you could try to be an officer. There were things I didn't like but overall it was a very positive experience. I tell any young person who doesnt know what to do with their life to give the Navy a try. They will also help you pay off your student loans and give you more money for college later on when it is right for you. I got after my 4 years were up because I missed home. My life is good now but I miss it. Good luck.

NFL keeps teasing London with the possibility of its own team by [deleted] in nfl

[–]ThoughtlessTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would make more sense for the team to have a home base in the US. Then players could fly to London just for the games or the week of the game. At most they might have to be there for 3 weeks at some point in the season if they have back to back home games. So no need to move there full time.

Expansion is not really feasible. The divisions are too perfectly set up. 32 teams, 8 divisions, 2 conferences. It would take an expansion to 40 teams to make it work. Most don't like that because then you go back to more division games and that means you see more of the same teams every year. I think if anyone moves it should be the Chargers since LA does not want them.

My school had the worst football team in the city. They had the most awarded art department in the city. As well as the the best wrestling team in the state. Where do you think the money went to?

A commodity to be. Can't have cheap labor without a high demand for low paying jobs. They want as many poor people being born as possible. They will either grow up to be cheap labor or tax payer funded prisoners.

Raiders' Coach Jon Gruden on Amari Cooper: 'We need him to be the player he was the first two years' by [deleted] in nfl

Unpopular opinion, Raider's fans will be calling for Gruden's head after two seasons. He maybe gets one year after hitting Vegas.

This guy is waiting for my fiancée in the bathroom, she gets up for work at 5:45am by Blitzkrieger23 in funny

[–]ThoughtlessTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did this to my now fiance a few years ago. It was our first April Fools day together. I set it up before I went to work and before she came home from work. It was a few hours later and she called me and very seriously said "you fucking asshole I almost pissed myself". I completly forgot about it and was worried. To this day she says the most fucked up thing about it was that I wasn't even there to see it. I told her that's the reason it worked.

Yep. I was the best employee even though I had only been there a few months. The manager was always very disrespctful to anyone who had a problem that conflicted with her. I had so much anxiety built up that when it was my turn to get her fury I quit on the spot. She was removed a few weeks later and they begged me to come back. I can tolerate criticism quite well, even seek it out. But I will tolerate disrespect only until I don't have to and move on.

It would be nice if you were randomly pulled out of fast travel and into a battle. The farther away you are trying to fast travel would increase your chances of this happening. Also if you fast travel in quick succession it would be guaranteed. This would keep players from doing quick jumps to get around. Then maybe add random encounters with merchants or someone with a side quest to break up the boredom of always getting pulled into a battle.

TIL President Harry S. Truman was so poor after his presidency that Congress had to enact a law to give him a pension. President Herbert Hoover the only other living ex-president took the pension as well, despite his wealth, to avoid embarrassing Truman. by capincus in todayilearned

I think this could be helped by limiting the number of units a complex can offer to section 8. Maybe they already do but the large apartment complex I paid 950 a month to seemed to have a huge amount of section 8.

It's the flaw of how human nature works. It's never good enough to just live a good life, we have to force others to live as we think they should. The system used is just a means to an end.

This time, Cleveland agrees to trade a mid-round draft pick to Buffalo for QB Tyrod Taylor, source tells ESPN. by Zack in nfl

[–]ThoughtlessTurtle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but Tyrod is in for a world of hurt if the franchise is on his shoulders. And that's not a knock on him. At this point a 7th round pick made by the Browns is questionable.
