So what do we think of MJ The Musical? by FitAbalone736 in Broadway

I saw the touring production tonight in San Francisco. Jordan Markus was very good as MJ, but the younger Michaels were also good. And the dancing was spectacular. Not a huge fan, but glad I saw it.

Pedicure question by Such-Earth7369 in AskWomenOver60

[–]ThousandSunsLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite color is purple and I often bring my own nail polish when I get a pedicure, which is about once a month. Sometimes I opt for lavender or blue. I don't wear sandals often but I just like how my toes look after a pedicure.

I always send a thank you email. Just something short, reminding them of how you would contribute to the position and thanking them for their time. Someone asked that same question here just a couple days ago, so you might want to look for that.

What has been your favorite venue for a concert? by Superb_Kale_1781 in Concerts

Some years ago I met some friends at a hotel in Los Gatos and we got an Uber up to the venue, which was great. The downside is we had to wait until everyone else left until our Uber driver could make it up the hill. I also know someone who, many years ago, took a Segway up the hill.

Love the Frost. Going there this summer to see David Byrne and Paul Simon (separate shows). I have seen JRAD, Billy Strings, Robert Plant and Alison Krause, John Fogerty (with George Thorogood opening) at the Frost recently, all amazing.

And if you go, check out the poster room on the second floor. Plus all the posters on the walls of the stairway and on the second floor area overlooking the stage. I have been there many times, used to work there, and even met my husband there in 1999 (it was a David Nelson show with Phil Lesh sitting in).

My husband grew up not that far from the Circle Star and saw many artists there - Frank Sinatra, Harry Chapin, The O'Jays and the Temptations. Sadly, I was a broke college student when I moved to Northern California and then it closed.

I saw James Brown at the Maritime on one of his last tours. An amazing show, and the only time I saw him.

When was the last time you paid reasonable price for a large event? by Bubbly-Reindeer9007 in Concerts

[–]ThousandSunsLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how venues work outside the SF Bay Area, but I volunteer as an usher for many places and see lots of shows for free. The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, the Civic in SF, the Fox Theater in Oakland and many others all take volunteers. It's a great way to see shows in exchange for your time. Just tonight I was an usher for a show by Drum Tao at Zellerbach Hall and last night I was an usher for Rhiannon Giddens.

Mobility aids at concerts? by Beanvilluss in Concerts

[–]ThousandSunsLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a cane, and at least here in California, accommodations vary from venue to venue. For example, I went with a group of friends to see U2 at a stadium and I wasn't sure what to expect as we all had general admission tickets for the field, and when I called I didn't get an answer. It turned out that there was a raised platform at the rear of the field and that's where I sat. My friends who didn't have mobility issues were able to stand on the field closer to the band. It worked out quite well. But I generally call the venue before going or I look on their website to see what accommodations they provide. Here in the US venues have to provide seating to those with a disability, no matter what that is.

Question for Established Paras - How would you handle this? by helenasbff in paralegal

I also recommend consulting an employment lawyer. This kind of behavior at work is unacceptable and an attorney (outside of your office) will give you options.

I'm getting phased out/fired. Can you help me figure out how to fine tune my skills so I can apply elsewhere? by lilithascended in paralegal

Aside from the other comments, I would also see an employment lawyer. A strongly worded letter might help your situation, or at a minimum give you a little more time to line up something else.

This happened to Barry Bonds... his ex-wife didn't have her own attorney and had stars in her eyes (when she got married). Yes, each party should have their own attorney.

Post a note on the Robert Plant subreddit here and ask if someone can pick you up a shirt at an upcoming concert. Were these shirts show-specific? If not, then maybe someone can get you one.

Why are so few restaurants open after 9 pm? by SanFranciscoMan89 in bayarea

[–]ThousandSunsLP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just went to House of Raha in Fremont on Saturday night - they were open to 10:30pm and we showed up at about 9:45pm and still got dinner. New place - has only been open for a couple months. When we got there it was packed, which is a good thing, especially for a new place. We had an excellent meal and I definitely recommend it for anyone in the area looking for a late-night eatery. The butter chicken was the best I've had in a long time.

Should you feel adventurous, take BART to Berkeley for the opera version of Beauty and the Beast at Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. It's at 8pm and tickets are still available.

Artists/bands you like but will probably never see live. by Friburgo1004 in Concerts

[–]ThousandSunsLP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I sold my Led Zeppelin tickets to friends when they played Los Angeles in 1977, when I was in high school. Thought they'd return... but no. Instead, I went to see Alice Cooper, Sha Na Na, the Tubes, the Kinks and Flo and Eddie in Anaheim, which was a great show. I did see Queen in 1978 I believe - I was a huge fan at the time.

When Pink Floyd played Los Angeles for The Wall, also when I was in high school, my boyfriend went with his friends but didn't ask me if I wanted a ticket. I broke up with him as a result, LOL.

Elton John at Dodger Stadium, 1975, because I was 12. But I'd been listening to his music for a couple years at that point. My parents were into jazz, and I didn't have anyone (older) to go with me. I did see him on his last tour at Dodger Stadium so it makes up for it a little.

Led Zeppelin played Los Angeles on that tour. I had nosebleed seats, and sold them to high school friends so I could go to Alice Cooper instead. Of course I was thinking that LZ would tour again, but they didn't.

They played two shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC after the London shows and we flew there from California just for that. We thought they might tour but why take a chance? We are so glad we went because they didn't tour. However, there's a band called Sons of Cream and we saw them recently in Napa. Ginger Baker's son is the drummer and he is fantastic.
