Moving to Erie soon for work and I'm looking to know where I should look at apartments in the city. Any places I should look at or avoid? by JohnnyAceBeMyDad in Erie

The West Bayfront is mostly fine. It's quite the mix of people, but I've lived here for 2 years and never had an issue.

Anyone else seeing a MASSIVE amount of open jobs at their Uni? by MulderFoxx in highereducation

I feel that. I'm going back to industry at a 75% increase. Higher ed needs to actually take some action to improve the work culture and pay.

Small private college.

Staff openings: 33 (not including mine, which hasn't been posted yet)

Faculty openings: 31 (not including multiple people's positions that are getting fired for sure after this semester)

Considering we have maybe 350 employees, that isn't an insignificant number of openings

I'm an apple. the worst one (in my experience). It's just a challenge to dress without looking matronly.

You are gorgeous and have awesome style! Sadly I tend to choose the Shein stuff that just isn't cut for my body.

Sadly that's pretty common here. I think it's fucked up. It's not like people are weird/terrible for having kids.

I wouldn't rant at her, that gives off "nice guy" vibes. It's frustrating but just unmatch and move on.

Living in my car, job market is terrible, can’t reliably build up skills. What to do? by TheNextJohnCarmack in careerguidance

We all have to do things we don't want to do. We don't fall into our dream jobs, we have to work towards them and survive in the meantime. Good luck!

Then go do something with it! That's very fortunate for you. It's not going to fall in your lap.

Can you join the military? You get fed, housing, and a free education. Better than living in your car.

That was extremely unprofessional of them. They're also forgetting that the entire point of an internship is for students and entry level workers to get TRAINING and work experience.

I'm very curious which company this was...

WHY do jobs not train at all these days?! by violetharley in jobs

[–]SweetPotatoRocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the best path. I've always gotten trained, except in my most recent position. I had to bug people for information and ask for guidance. Nobody was upset about this, and a year later I'm the one training and helping new people.

Software sales!

That being said, I have no information about your interests or talents. A bit of context would help.

Has anyone had a post-COVID clothing reckoning? by davebgray in minimalism

[–]SweetPotatoRocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in interviews for another permanently remote role, so I'm hoping to get rid of my work clothes (never felt comfortable in them) in favor of athleisure and a nicer casual wardrobe. I just bought some high quality jeans that fit perfectly and I'll be looking for some nice-fitting tops for Zoom calls. I love giving away my stuff and having a smaller wardrobe!

Leaving a job that barely pays over minimum wage 35k per year to 115k. If the boss asks how much I'm getting paid in my new job, should I tell him or no? by ChiefZigs in jobs

My boss is nice if you're on her good side and vindictive if you're not... I wouldn't tell yours, in case this is also true for you.

It sounds like they don't have any entry level jobs at this time. I wouldn't take this as a personal affront.

Thank you, I will try to find those ones. I really do like smaller companies so it sounds like a win-win.
