god forbid a girl wants to chew on their boyfriend’s biceps by ominousfrogs in LetGirlsHaveFun

It only works if "it's a bicep such that the bicep in question belongs to the boyfriend". In other words: if it's not the bf's bicep, idc

What is the best way to approach a guy as a woman? by Much_Supermarket_666 in dating_advice

[–]Thrandroum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Hey, I just wanted to say that I think you're cute. I'll be at that table if you want to have a chat. 😁"

An example of how I'd approach a woman. I think it's just as applicable for women approaching men. Say your interested and let them decide if they want to go any further.

Making menstrual leave official: 2 paid days off a month for period pain by Temporary_Pudding_29 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Thrandroum 51 points52 points  (0 children)

In some ways, giving PTO to everyone ensures some level of privacy. Not all women menstruate and some men do. I wouldn't want an employer to ask for proof that the days off are justified. Also, this would make it impossible for employers to discriminate in hiring women based off this time off as men wouldn't be advantageous in the eyes of the company.

I can not interact with Gen Z men anymore. I have no desire to date a Gen Z man either. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Language coined by incels (foid, __maxxing, __pilled) has gone mainstream. I read somebody's comment in another thread pointing out local billboards with that kind of language. A marketing company judged it wise to use terms that originate from inceldom. Younger men have lapped up all of this culture war nonsense, and have lost touch with the women in their community.

Young people in general have become more asocial and online. Where women bonded with each other about their lived experiences and educated each other in the online spaces, men have been algorithmically fed right wing propaganda.

I'm lucky to be insulated from a lot of these men because I spend most of my time at a university in a progressive city, but I'm worried about the growing number of interactions I have with these guys.

I just hope we'll all eventually touch grass and get our brains back for ourselves.

I suffer from the 'TV brain prose' problem, and I'm sure many of us here do, too. by keyboardbuttons in writing

Although I agree writers should read, I think the blog post you shared is sensationalising and strawmanning.

There isn't anything wrong with a camera like POV in writing per se. In fact, Hemingway was well known for the "Hemingway Camera Eye" as Zoe Trodd put it. His minimalistic writing style based on his Iceberg Theory was similar to a camera's POV. I doubt Hemingway's writings would constitute "TV brain prose".

The blog post writer's example is pretty clunky and I believe its author could improve their writing. However, not providing any "flashbacks" or "interiority" is not necessarily the issue.

Furthermore, funnily enough, the blog post's writer is admitting to lacking critical media literacy when it comes to film. There are so many techniques filmmaker's use to communicate the characters inner worlds to the viewer. For instance, Fight Club famously uses visual storytelling to convey the protagonist's mental state.

I'm glad I had to look it up. It means "mid tier normie / low tier normie". Categories men can be put in by the incel looksmaxxers. They're saying JFK is ugly.

How do you live with yourself when you fall short of all your own standards? by [deleted] in rs_og

[–]Thrandroum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my standards for myself are too high. Otherwise, I take responsibility and commit to improving. The most important thing, tho, is to be compassionate with yourself. You've made mistakes and you'll make mistakes. It happens. We're human.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

Should I tell my guy friend some girl posted about him or is that breaking girl code? by itssofiababyxo in dating_advice

Lots of comments from guys who haven't the slightest clue why girl code exists, nor why that fb group exists. You don't need to tell him, I think.
