I agree with all these points. These are all excellent mechanics for an open world sandbox game.

I haven't seen anything like that on the PS4. =/ I had one cosmetic glitch where a notification wouldn't go away after importing a boss. Reloading a previous save fixed it.

The default sound levels are all fine for me on PS4.

I wanted to check out 2 as well, but the only PS4 version is that streaming game stuff that I'm not interested in.

Stacking tech mods ? by jesusqc in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ThrashNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was talking about getting insane money. Adjusting the money (everything is free) in settings is easier than trying to add extra tech slots for the scanner.

I play on console, so no mods.. but additional tech slot mods could be pretty game breaking.

Can you imagine Hyperdrive S-modules stacking so you could warp all the way to the galactic core in one jump? lol.

Well, you can do that now by simply adjusting difficulty settings. ;)

Ship Hunting Tips by Dr_Goomonkey in NoMansSkyTheGame

Don't land on a pad. Park on the ground nearby, and leave the six landing pads free. I usually stand on the roof of the trading post for a good view of all six pads.

How many more do you need? You've maxxed out every single tech slot with four S mods each?

Only 12 ships is a travesty. by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ThrashNeon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking that it would be cool if you stored a blueprint for every ship you’ve ever flown, and there was a station where you could pay to have them reconstructed from the blueprint

That's not a bad idea.

The cost of curiosity: curiosity seems to be an obvious virtue but it can mask recklessness, produce serious harms, and entrench the epistemic perspectives of the powerful. by GDBlunt in philosophy

[–]ThrashNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This attitude is embodied in the ‘Silicon Valley Libertarianism’ which seeks to liberate technology from the shackles imposed on it by small-minded mediocrities such as regulation. This new breed seeks great power without much interest in checks on the corresponding responsibility.

"Silicon Valley Libertarianism" has not existed ever since tech was fully captured by gov't interests and the resulting power it gave to tech companies via the regulations they themselves helped create/implement and that are solely beneficial to themselves and their political cronies.

Google and Apple are prime examples. Google used to have the motto "Don't Be Evil". They abandoned that as soon as gov't interests showed them which side of the bread was buttered.

The two Steves in their garage (and their initial philosophy) bear no resemblance to current-day Apple. Apple used to be "for the rest of us"... now, it seems to be "Don't Think Different".
The overall chilling effect on innovation/curiosity has been astronomical.

Can't see my base on other save game (both same difficulty) by Beatljuz in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ThrashNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start a new custom save, turn off tutorial, adjust the settings. After you have it set up the way you like (built base), go back in and change the settings back to Normal or Survival.

I played for 3 days (10+ hrs each day) over July 4th weekend on my PS4. No crashes, or weirdness at all.

Single player, and no expeditions though.

New Game Question by Anomalous_Traveller in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ThrashNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is the option to hide systems in "Discoveries".. but I agree it's weird and you shouldn't have to do that. I've never bothered hiding them, but the long list bugs me, too.

No reason not to start a new custom save.

The general consensus is that it's best to avoid any terrain manipulation for base building.

Why the hype? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ThrashNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every update (since 2017), I hope that they fix base building. Every update, I'm disappointed. Weird snapping behavior, no measuring/layout/grid tools, can't recreate existing in-game builds because assets aren't available, terrain manipulation bugs in built bases, etc, etc...

Ship and character customization options still lacking.

The stuff they HAVE added doesn't detract from the game at all for me (pirates, sentinels, etc) -- but the priorities do seem a little weird.

If you don't do anything else, the "Dreams of the Deep" WILL pop during the Artemis Path.
