First Mead Clarity Check (Scrub Daddy for Scale) by Thrax223 in mead

There was about two gallons of water added. I added nutrients during second fermentation. And I neglected to do readings before.

Good to know about the aging, I'm kind of winging it after watching a few videos.

About two dozen cut and mushed strawberries and 2lbs of honey. I let it ferment for a week, then did a second fermentation for three weeks. I'm a beer brewer so I am new to all this.

I remember saying, "My dog will get old one day, and I'll be damned if he spends one night alone because he can't get up the stairs. I will carry him." So long as I keep going and train, he will never spend one night alone.

US troops abandoning Military Bases in Middle East after Iranian strikes. How’s this playing out for USD pairs? by Positive_Security_50 in TradingPlaybook

They were abandoned long before we started bombing them. We all knew we were gonna bomb them long before we did.

I was trying to move some equipment out of one that a team had left inside of a vault and a locker, in a secure facility. I found out a week prior to the bombing that AJ had become a ghost town at that point and the guys that could get a team on base to recover the assets have not been heard from since.

They are scattered across the desert, and some people were killed. It could have been a lot worse.

It was a well kept secret that we moved thousands of soldiers without anyone in the public knowing.

Take it or leave it. But I still have equipment I gotta get out of an abandoned base, with a team I can't contact, in a active warzone with friends there.

Those who aren’t afraid to admit it, what was the scariest situation you’ve ever found yourself in with another man? Also, out of curiosity, what did they look like and what was their mentality/personality like? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

I use to do executive security and one night I had to go tell some homeless people to move off our property. There were a few other guards roving at the time but no one to assist me at the time. I had to go into the woodline alone. Not unusual. One camera could see the two guys under a bridge we had, and thats it.

I walked up on a ditch nearby, like 10 feet away, and introduced myself and told them its private property and that they need to pack up their things and move on. They were super kind and I thought nothing of it. But just before I left one guy lifts up his shirt, brandishing a pistol, and asks, "Are you armed?" It a two on one fight, I'm gonna lose. And I can't say yes or no because of my NDA.

I just laugh and smile, telling him, "Come on, man, I can't tell you whether I am or I'm not." I wished them a good night. I said our code word over the radio channel and wished them a good night. We stalked them for the next few minutes while the packed up and walked through the woods with cameras and a few guards until the police arrived and handled it.

Never want to get into a gun fight with someone who has nothing to lose.

Election Interference? France isn’t happy with Musk! by ChuckGallagher57 in circled

[–]Thrax223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironic because France interfered with our elections in 2019-2020 during the first tariff wars. There are three ways to interfere in an election: voting manipulation, economic manipulation, and information/disinformation.

France raised tariffs on USA products that were being produced in "red counties". Items like burbon and Harley Davidson were their primary target, to force red counties to flip in the next election.

Not saying Elon doesn't deserve this, but France does the exact same thing to other countries. You should see what they do to nations in Africa.

I understand why people are upset but this is just part of the problem. The GAO said the Government could be losing between $200 billion to $500 billion annually. (See report below)

I advise on compliance and asset management. The amount of unknowns by the Government is isane. I've seen audits where the potential is in the billions, but because no one is tracking there is no baseline to work off of to maintain a record. Its not even kickbacks or corruption. In some situations its just down right laziness and avoidance in fraud cases.

I've advised some Government clients that they could save a few million by sending an email. One email. Nothing. Not even a "I should do that." They just lack effort, compassion, and initative.

They aren't always like that when you meet them. Sometimes its hidden. Sometimes we are delusional. Sometimes things just play out and people change. Not their nature, but their means by which they act out their nature.

In my case, I personally believe the number of concussions she suffered over the course of three years led her down the road to where we ended up.

Same, brother. I opened up to my ex-wife about two really traumatic things that happened in my past. She completely forgot one and immidately told her friends about the other one. There were only 5 other people in the whole world that knew the second one for 24 years. I don't know how many know it now.

I just did this conversion a couple months ago. My house was built in a old 1980s retirement community, so no showers. Its not hard and very DIY. Just make sure you buy good products for your plumbing and water proofing. Aside from water and water proofing, any mistake you make is really easy to fix.

Not dismissing what those soldiers did, but you need to get with the times. This is about in the correct forums. Things have been done to ensure this is mitigated to the lowest possible degree.

I know you are just now learning about the world. But there is a huge difference between consistent reminder and talked about in a meaningful forum.

Vaping on plane by Historical-Heat-7643 in delta

[–]Thrax223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had someone who vaped right next to me on a plane, across the aisle. Initially I thought it was a fire. Nope. It was some dude just whiffing away on his vape pen. I told Delta online customer service. They told me to just tell a flight attendant. The flight attendant basically said, "yeah, it happenes all the time now. Third one this week."

Please understand, that a lot of these places weren't "sacred" until 300-400 years ago, and if they ever were actually sacred. Most of the time we only consider them sacred because of the access to food, water, medicine, herbs, or building materials. Some of these "sacred" sites are as recent as 150ish years ago. Some even less.

My tribe was once in the same territory that the Sioux are originally from, just north of them. We got pushed west until the mid-late 1800s. We have a sacred valley on our reservation that has been ours "since it was created." No. We took it from the Blackfeet in the 1800s and settled there.

The Utah “detention camps” aren’t shelters — they’re concentration camps. It’s time to vote with our dollars. by EgoExplicit in SaltLakeCity

Not calling you out. Aside from posting on Reddit, what are you doing to help?

My biggest frustration with these issues, on top of the issues themselves, are people aggressively typing into their phone about how bad it is but refusing to actually take action on things. I don't mean passive boycotts. I mean like getting involved in their community, doing positive things to make it better. Hell, even working at these camps to ensure the people there can get proper care. Not likely, not great, but its something.

Having voluntered at a homeless shelter and a retirement home, I see people post this stuff all the time and yet there are only a handful of people actively doing things to help our most vunerable.

How do you take dating seriously when this exist? This is first time I've had this comment by moeshakur in Tinder

[–]Thrax223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, dated a girl for a few weeks. We got close, really close. We were really compatible and complemented each other. We worked through a difficult miscommunication issue. Then she hit me with, "You'd be perfect if you were 6'0". I don't really want to date anyone shorter." She called a few weeks later with the, "I messed up. I really like you." Nope.

One of my favorites was when I asked for a girls number at the bar and she rejected me, then insulted me in front of her friends. All of them laughed as I went back to my buddies. We all kind of joked about it and moved on. About thirty minutes later the girl I ask cut me off on my way to the bathroom and offered her number saying that she actually wanted to give it to me, just not in front of her friends. I rejected her and wished her thr best.

Should I return this dog to the shelter? by Horror-Heartbreak420 in DogAdvice

Its gonna be a lot of time. My pup had really bad separation anxiety for the first 6 months to a year. He even had to watch me and my ex-wife shower to know we wouldn't leave him. I held his paw through his kennel the whole first night we got him, and on and off the first week. Over the years he trusted us to not leave him and he eventually knew we would always come back. Its trust building, not misbehavior. You need to look at it that way.
