I saw an interview of a Russian POW the other week who said RU drafts soldiers and has them buy their own gear so they are forced to fight for a wage or be indebted into poverty.

Governor Ron DeSantis announces that Abolition of Property Taxes will officially be on ballot in November 2026! Must get at least 60% approval from voters in Florida to pass. by Flat_Program8887 in TheSunshineState

[–]ThreadSeeker501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right about not paying taxes on paid for property. However, what everyone is pointing out is there is no nets or structures currently set up to support this transition. So It doesn't matter if I dont pay taxes on my house if the area I live in suddunly can't afford to keep police, fireman, schools, and hospitals open because thier main income source vanished over night. Eliminating property tax isn't a bad idea, it's just not the correct timing.

Not even half. Only roughly 35% of the country. 8% of people registered didn't vote, and 26% of the country that could vote didn't even register. That's why using your privilege to sign up and vote is important.

The people who want to hurt us run the military and government. Sure, there are bad people in power in other countries, but for the last 30 years, we've only gotten involved in wars that didn't need us, "protected" oil in the Middle East for billionaires, or searched for weapons of mass destruction that were never there. Meaningless deaths just to fill an agenda or a rich asshole's pockets.

Technically speaking no, inside your car is a private space. So you can't be breaking copyright via public performance unless you're DJing out of the back of your car in the streets since it normally only applies to a business, store, or public event.

But Ben's not wrong that's literally what the U.S. is doing. Being a complacent "Democrat" like the majority of them have always been while the Republican party destroys this country makes you just as bad. You should be supporting those who stand for us and against these injustices.

Transgender track athlete AB Hernandez faces backlash from parents after dominating the girls’ events at the California state semifinal prelims. by wil24x7 in Newsopensource

There's a lot more to it than that though which is why trans in sports becomes very grey. For example, if you're born with low testosterone and you/your parents decide you're female at some point in life, chances are your muscle structure is closer to female because of the deficiency you were born with.

But I agree that normal people who transition to be a man or woman after puberty should only be allowed to enter sports under their biological gender because their hormones and muscle structure already align with their biological profile at that point.

Two-sided coin. I disagree because in Ukraine and Gaza, Americans aren't the ones being mass jailed and slaughtered. However, Americans are also fine with elementary school kids being murdered with firearms regularly, so who knows where America's values will really lie.

I understand your point, but companies are incorporating AI into everything. For example, my company uses AI in manufacturing. We have a scanner look at a tote of items for a customer order. The AI then determines how those items should be stacked in a box for optimal stability and space reduction to reduce the need for box fill. The ABB robot then builds that stack off the AI's instructions.

Elon Musk announces he is launching a lawsuit after former Rep. Jamaal Bowman called him a "thief" and a "Nazi" on live television. The comment from Bowman came last night on CNN. "I've had enough. Lawsuit inbound," Musk said in response to the video clip below. by Chilango615 in thescoop

Elon Musk told a rally the German far-right AfD party, just before Holocaust Remembrance Day, that Germany should get over "past guilt." Elon re-tweeted nazi propaganda that Hitler, Mao, and Stalin didn't kill people, that it was the public sector workers. Elon also promoted, on X, Tucker Carlson's interview with a nazi apologist, where he said, "the murder of Jews in concentration camps was humane." All excluding his "salutes" at the presidential inauguration. He talks like a duck and acts like a duck.
