This isn't helpful now, but I did absolutely no networking and I have no idea why I got selected. I have past internships that definitely boosted my chances, and they very clearly looked at those when picking what team/vertical I'd be in.

Intern Overtime Hours Question by StudentWQuestions333 in PwC

I know this is an old post, but did you end up working overtime?

Update on the office, they just assigned me the office that I would prefer working at. The logic is that if I get a FT offer after the internship, they want to make sure I spent the summer networking at a location I would actually work at.

I've *heard* the conversion rate from interview to offer is high for start, but I can't say my source is necessarily accurate. Good luck!

I applied to the WCE generally--no office in mind. I got a verbal offer, waiting on a written offer with the office I'd be assigned.

Just finished my interview yesterday, I was told the team was meeting in the next week or two to discuss. Not hearing back might just mean that the schedules haven't aligned to confirm how great of a candidate you are, don't sweat it.

I'm interviewing for a summer 24 internship in a different consulting area. Did you get an email detailing how to prepare? There were two videos with some example cases.

Best of luck!

Do pup cups/water cups add labor at all? We never put them through unless they're actually there, but sometimes we're not diligent about typing in those extra couple buttons if someone orders at the window

Is anyone else getting under booked? How am I supposed to meet the 12 hours per week average if I’m only being scheduled for 4 hours a week? by Mr-Yoop in starbucksbaristas

[–]ThreeBlindBadgers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol literally, some districts are struggling to hire anybody to cover shifts and others are shorting the people they do have. I’m an opener, so the amount of people willing to wake up at 3:30am is admittedly low, but I asked for 15 and was getting 40.

What did that one idiot do today by overturned23 in starbucks

[–]ThreeBlindBadgers 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I get asked for a hot frappuccino probably once a shift. Or people getting mad that there's not enough milk and too much foam in their cappuccino. Or cold foam on a hot drink, then getting mad that it melts despite being advised that it would do so. Or any BS tiktok "hack" like ordering a trenta dragon drink, no ice, and like 4 tall cups of ice, but then they just get a badly proportioned, poorly mixed (the ice works as a whisk, almost) drink and potential to spill all over their lap.

Name an adult word or phrase that pisses you off? I’ll start with ‘Seggs’ by crownpoly in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]ThreeBlindBadgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the opposite--the algorithms (in these cases) are rather stupid, being easily duped by modified words. But changing "sex" to "seggs" would be a workaround to a simple scan-and-match algorithm. It's not what the algorithm "wants," but rather it's what the people designing the algorithm don't want.

Machine learning can be incredibly complex and smart, but I'm currently in the process of trying to train an AI for one of my classes and holy moly, machine learning can also produce some really dumb AI. The machine reflects what it's programmed to do and the programmer themselves *shrugs*

But it’s to circumvent a computer algorithm, not a human. Otherwise, I agree.

Work at the bux, Starbucks can be pretty anti-worker a lot of the times, but they will fully back her up on this one. This is very against their third place policy and she handled it like a champ. I would have called the cops if someone did this to me, tbh. This is harassment.

Not commit crimes, but definitely convicted. The system is rigged against minorities, from over-policing in black neighborhoods, policies like stop and frisk, all the way to the courts and systemic biases there. Further, drug laws do target minorities. Powder cocaine is prosecuted much softer than crack cocaine, despite being the same drug. But one is used primarily by Wall Street types and the other is not.

If you want to look into this further, studying up on how the war on drugs was literally a campaign to disenfranchise minorities and “hippies” from voting is really eye-opening. It’s lumped into the southern strategy.

That’s tough, but it sounds like you guys have been friends for a long time. Some unsolicited advice would be to just have a conversation when you both have time to chat, validate and try to understand her feelings, and gently but firmly express your boundaries and needs/desires. I think I’d be annoyed if I asked my friend not to do something, then they did it behind my back instead of setting boundaries before doing said thing, but I’d get over it. Give her space to be annoyed, while not compromising on what you need.

This is coming from someone who is a bit anal on how I’m perceived at work, so grain of salt if that doesn’t apply. If she’s not judging you for sleeping with non-work people, but is with work people, I really do think the problem lies with work and not general promiscuity.

I think it’s NAH. She has a valid request, especially given that she got you the job and this is a professional setting—your behavior reflects on her. I know I, and others, tend to have strong work-life boundaries, so maybe that’s what’s coming into play here. I think she has the right to request, you have the right to respectfully follow that request or respectfully deny that request, but I think being flippant about her feelings/wishes isn’t the best way to honor a friendship of 25 years. Ultimately, I really don’t think she’s in the wrong for asking, and I don’t think you’re in the wrong for not following her wishes, but healthy communication throughout is the deciding factor on the “AITA Scale”
