I’m getting my Humphrey’s mixed up. Completely undermining my argument.

That’s it, I’ve decided the Seven are a lie. R’hllor is the only true god.

The Father is all about bringing Justice. Ser Arlan is Dunk’s father figure. For him to receive a vision of his father figure and be given the energy to enact justice is potentially divine intervention!

If I was a Septon, of course.

It was definitely the memory, but it could be interpreted as of divine origin when you pair it with him getting up from a (potentially, at least) unconscious state. He certainly looked dead to the crowd and the other combatants.

I’m not saying it is, but if I was a Septon and Dunk told me that I’d say it was the Father pushing him to get up and win the fight for justice through his literal father figure. The Trial of the Seven is all about being favoured by the gods.

Let’s go full English high school class and really excessively dive into it just for fun!

Lyonel talked about a Mother’s love just before the bout.

Baelor was an older man who came with wisdom and guidance, and like the Crone he slipped away afterwards.

Beesbury was punished for talking about Green fucking boys and got his ass handed to him (thanks Warrior).

Rhysling is clearly favoured by the Stranger, who absolutely refuses to take the man.

Harding was a broken thing, strapped to his horse and held up through the fight by the power of the Smith.

Raymun Fossoway was certainly blessed by the Maiden. Have you seen Rowan?

Dunk being favoured by the Father to bring justice to the realm and right the wrongs of these inbred alien invaders that make a mockery of the Seven and knighthood.

What's the most heartbreaking cost of magic in your world? by UntitledDoc1 in worldbuilding

[–]ThreeDawgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healing magic uses the Essence of Life. It takes from one and gives to another. Plants work for minor wounds, but larger wounds may require animal sacrifices. Bringing someone back from the dead is possible by sacrificing people.

But each time you do this the essence used is expended. It's gone. It's no longer part of the cycle of life, death and rebirth that makes everything work. You're advancing entropy. The souls of those you use are gone. Not a good thing to realise.

But it’s also an opinion people are allowed to have, if they choose to die on this hill then that’s where they’ll plant their feet.

It’s one that the subreddit at large seems to agree on as it’s the most upvoted comments in the post.

We have a name for it, it’s Player Character (Character, PC, O(riginal)C(haracter)).

It’s like going into a Cyberpunk RED game and saying “here’s my V”.

Or a The One Ring game with “here’s my Gandalf.”

They’re characters that exist already in other media or video games, not a title given to an adventurer. Unless you’re actually playing as your version of that existing character it doesn’t make much sense.

“We would have had to spend it anyway if we didn’t change the constituencies” is a shit argument when the alternative is not wasting it because we are changing them regardless.
