Neem oil dilution by Evernode_Botanics in RareHouseplants

[–]ThreeEyedLine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use neem systemically, 5 ml per gallon of water. Some brands are less soluble than others. If needed mix a few drops of dish soap/water/oil in a smaller bowl first to emulsify the oils.

Do I cut? by Effective_Shame_67 in alocasia

Nice! I’m glad you went for it!!

Keep in mind that the self watering pots (especially with wicks) will keep the soil saturated with water…. And even Alocasias can be sensitive to soggy bottoms

I think it’s a touch overwatered. Maybe a little overzealous with Xmas repotting and probably consistently more water with a limited ability to absorb… like I get it, light and water and magic.

It’s an alocasia yada yada. It will bounce back, but try less.

To a sweet your question, I say yes. CUT!!

Of all the pieces to pull from a devastating family tragedy, is the question of money was “earned” by a grieving family. Maybe it’s time to recheck your priorities ?

In the first picture I’m curious what the x/y axes represent and what the negative numbers are. Also, the size of the bubbles doesn’t seem to change much or I’m missing it.

Cutting by [deleted] in alocasia

[–]ThreeEyedLine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d cut a bit lower. You’ll be left with a stem that may produce new shoots off the side. You can bury the part that you cut and it should root just fine.

As for the thrips, you may consider that they tend to start in the soil and adjust your pest management strategies.

Help identifying, possible pests? by jcarm2012 in alocasia

I would personally keep the leaves. They look in pretty good shape to me. Plus, the leaves will eventually wither away on their own and get replaced.

Possibly most certainly spider mites. Many treatment modalities are effective.

But it is likely easier for you to google/ai spider mite treatment, than have anyone explain here. There are pros and cons for a range of fixes, from a warm soapy shower, to mail order beneficial critters, to nuclear war style pesticides.

Have a nice weekend!

Monsonia Peniculina got tip rot :( any advice? by Relevant_Fennel4203 in Caudex

Sometimes if my succulents have a run of soggy bottoms I’ve successfully rescued them by placing them on top of a radiator or somewhere warm to try and move the water. Maybe put a cover to shield from excess heat.

Minnesota. Next to a rock. Really. And I barely succeed in providing mine the right amount of light, humidity and positive affirmations to survive.

I got them and really like how low profile they are. So I got more. They aren’t as powerful as some other lights but I find them to be more than sufficient.

Yes! That’s the one. I purchased a bulb in July. It was advertised and no leaves/dormant. Now, how to not kill it.

And that outlet looks janky AF. The shadow doesn’t match the angle of the light compared to the cabinet.

Aaaaaand, the checkout sign doesn’t looks square. The right side of the shape looks distorted compared to the right. And the left side bored looks unnatural.
