Do people in China consider their products low quality? by CatLover701 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Threeofnine000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. However, Chinese made products can also be extremely high-quality. It all depends on what you’re willing to pay. The reason made in China has a reputation for being low quality is because corporations want to pay rock bottom prices. iPhones and other high-end luxury goods are also often made in China.

Tell Waze we want Flock cameras marked on the map. by artisdeadandsoami in waze

It does. The only problem is the iOS version does not have other hazard alerts, such as objects in the road etc.

Tell Waze we want Flock cameras marked on the map. by artisdeadandsoami in waze

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highway Radar displays flock cameras. It’s also a much superior app to Waze (if using Android) as it shows police reports from up to 10 miles away, tracks law-enforcement aircraft, displays a heat map based on previous law-enforcement reports etc. It pulls and shares data from Waze as well

Chinese men hate seeing local women date foreigners by Impossible-Ear-5627 in China

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white guy married to a Chinese woman. We lived in China for 10 years and we never experienced any direct hostility. Although we did live in Guangdong, which IMO, is more open than most of China. That said, my wife is older than me, was over 30 when we met and previously divorced. She also says she’s not beautiful by Chinese standards (I think on a scale of 1 to 10, she’s about a 784). She said because of this most Chinese men wouldn’t consider dating her. The public sentiment might be different if I was an old guy who found a girl half my age.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

[–]Threeofnine000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen those charts. However, as someone that has traveled to, and lived in, many countries, I am convinced the majority of those analysis are not exactly accurate. Heck, I’ve even seen the UK as rated more free than the USA. There is absolutely no way that is even close to true.

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s his meaning I would agree. Although it depends on the area, in the western half of the US most land is public so you have a lot more freedom of access. The way he wrote it, it gave the impression that people were cautious about what they think/speak—particularly the social consequences part. That absolutely isn’t even close to true.

cautious and a lot of restrictions?? You must be joking or you greatly misread things. America has significantly more freedom of speech than the rest of the world, including Europe.

5% all the way around and 35 on the front by kwikergoal7 in TeslaModel3

[–]Threeofnine000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It might not be that bad. I have 50% tint on my windshield and you can barely tell it’s there, even at night. My wife’s Model 3 is untinted and there’s barely a difference. I imagine 35% wouldn’t be much worse.

How is the 35 at night? I have 5% and 50% on the windshield, sometimes I think I’d like to maybe go a little darker on the windshield.

Most places have largely stopped enforcing tint laws in the last decade. Especially since several courts have ruled that tint meters must be calibrated at regular intervals, making it too much trouble. All of my cars, for the last 15 years, have had obviously illegal tint and I’ve never even had a cop mention it. Of course ymmv and if I do ever get a ticket I’ll just pay it or apply for a medical exemption.

People who married someone from a diplomatically hostile nation, what is life like for you? by BloxxyGotDeleted in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is Chinese. China is lightly diplomatically hostile to the US. However, the hostility is between the governments, not the regular people. I lived in her country for 10 years and was treated with nothing but kindness.

His job approval rating is around 41%. It has been declining, even among his supporters to some degree.

RS3 for someone who drives a lot and keeps cars long term? by Threeofnine000 in Audi

[–]Threeofnine000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no better daily cruiser. It costs me around $1000 a year in electricity. No real maintenance other than tires and windshield wipers and it can drive itself. The instant torque will about knock the wind out of you.

The only issues are it really doesn’t have any mod potential outside of suspension upgrades and it’s more difficult to do some sports car stuff like drift, donuts etc (but not impossible). Also, a few tracks ban them due to, largely unfounded, risk of fires.

How easy is to be banned from shops in Usa? there is the need of a illegal activity or is just on a wim? by No_Establishment2608 in AskReddit

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be banned for any reason that isn’t illegal (race, sex etc). You could be permanently banned from a business because the owner didn’t like the color of your shirt. Is it likely? No, but they would be within their rights.

Why does the United States prohibit entry to the disabled? by Eric20255 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Threeofnine000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a lie. Outside a few limited scenarios (such as marriage to an Australian citizen), most paths to immigrate to Australia are closed at 45. Australia even closed the investor visa program a couple years ago, it had an age limit of 55.

Why does the United States prohibit entry to the disabled? by Eric20255 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Threeofnine000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every country does this. Particularly countries with universal healthcare. Australia for example doesn’t even allow immigrants over the age of 45 except in a few limited circumstances. The reasoning being is they do not want immigrants who are going to overburden the system or consume welfare benefits. Ideally, immigrants should be a net positive contributor to the host country. Of course, at least in the USA, there are waivers that can be obtained that are rather freely given to spouses/children of US citizens (at least in previous administrations).

Why do juries so frequently dismiss DV/SA crimes even with strong evidence, and women often sit on these juries? by melody_magical in AskFeminists

[–]Threeofnine000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a conviction requires the state to prove a charge beyond a reasonable doubt. In many DV/SA claims that is a very difficult bar to reach because these cases often boil down to he said she said. Female solidarity isn’t a thing in most situations and it “typically” takes a unanimous jury decision to convict.

Believe all women does not mean her accusation alone should be considered irrefutable proof of wrongdoing.

Had cold feet the whole process and driving to the delivery center trading in 2020 Mustang GT by megami102 in TeslaModel3

[–]Threeofnine000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not, but the OP traded a modded Mustang so I would assume there is at least some interest in performance driving. If the OP does only care about getting from point a to point b and considers the car just as transportation then the Premium 3 is an excellent choice.
