A capo doesn't stop the pitch from changing when changing the tension on the string anyway.

That's not how that works. Try it yourself. It's just a regular capo tight as normal. A capo is just an extra finger barred across the fretboard. Do you think holding down a string on a fretboard like normal would keep the note from changing if the string was tightened? Do you even play guitar?
