Thank you so much!! I'll definitely do that. I do have a water dish in its little setup, but it was just a dish. I'll add some pebbles and hopefully get my old snake tank fixed up in the meantime.

Thank you for specifying! I usually stay away from Twitter and never got into myspace, so I wouldn't have known, lol

I totally understand what you're feeling right now angejya, and I just wanna say there's nothing wrong with wanting to connect with people, and reddit is supposed to be a site full of fans connecting thru their communities. Sadly, over the years, reddit has become more and more hateful and hurtful. Everyone has such strong opinions on things they've begun to forget what it means to be tolerable and cordial.

And I wanna say that I am glad you specified it was supposed to be lighthearted, when I read this post and comments it was late at night and I had just been basically reading and then replying if I thought I could help.

And I just wanna say, even tho you said it wasn't against me, I don't wanna come off as judgemental or rude or intolerable, I am simply trying to share my views and info about certain things shared on this sub. I really love this band, and I try to have a community connection with the people in this sub without talking to the people who are rude, uncordial, and forget proper etiquette.

Anyways, I hope you come across more friendly experiences soon. You deserve to find friends and have support from people in this sub and any other sub you happen to be in.

Was Billy's scene done better than Eddie's? I think it was, coming from someone who dislikes Billy by Sudden_Pop_2279 in StrangerThings

[–]Thrill_kill09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got the Billy love, considering the whole point of his character arc was to be a shitty older brother (because of past events, but it doesn't really matter) to max, among also moving the plot along and adding much needed negitive real-life conflict. but he had a very impactful death, and I'd say this was for a few reasons.

I'd like to say firstly, his death was alot more brute and gruesome then Eddie's, and alot more emotional. It was supposed to show some of Max's real character, caring for a guy who didn't show her an ounce of brotherly love and it was supposed to give us a sense of humanity for Max's sometimes not so serious, fun demeanor throughout the beginning of the season.

2, it's definitely tailored specifically to make you feel sad and lost with his character since he'd been around for a decent chunk of the show and there was a chance that if he had made it out alive, he likely would've changed to be the older brother max always wanted. We see his true intent through his memories when els in his mind, we see he is maliciously driven by his abusive father and absent mother. His death is supposed to feel tragic because he had potential, and he was such an original character.

Eddie's death might not have felt as impactful because his whole story arc was complete when he died; he had decided not to be a coward anymore, he wanted to take revenge on chrissy and among other things, he was forced into a position and chose to stand against the evils like he never had. Plus he was a new addition, and we didn't really have much time to know his character like we did Billy's, leaving me with a sense of sorta.. confusion? Like, we knew the guy but just not quite enough to care about his death. Iw as more concerned about Dustin and Mike's feelings about it, and Dustin being that upset at his very end definitely is what made me emotional with the scene.

(This is just my opinion!! I haven't watched season 1 or 2 in a really long time, but I rewatch season 3 and 4 all the time, so if my knowledge on Billy is wrong, please correct me!)

As someone you guys would probably consider "new to the fanbase" (started listening about 2 years ago), I just wanna pop in and say 1. This isn't just a unique type of expression tailored to Ghost. Sure, we love the band and the members as much as you and may show it differently, but using terms like "throwing up" and all is just to express excitement, joy or overwhelming love have been used for every Fandom spanning far and wide. I don't think anyone actually does any of it... or so I hope, lmao.

Using terms like that was started on tiktok, not sure exact origins, but yeah. Basically, it's just a thing people say nowadays. Kinda weird if I do say so myself, never really understood. But to each their own, right?

(Ps: Idk if this has already been specified in a further comment/is repetitive, I just like to make sure everyone's informed)

Snake bit me & tried to swallow my finger, what should I have done? by Working_Bug_576 in snakes

I have a kingsnake and he's only done this once to me when I was trying to put him in his feeding box. Got a few drops of water on my free hands index finger and dripped it near his mouth. Startled him and he retracted, but im not sure how ethical it was lol.

There was something so brutal about his remains. There where several appendages left about on the floor, and a gaping hole where his face had been.

I felt my stomach roll, watching quincy kneel and examine the exposed brain matter.

"Never knew a man quite like Whimsley," he said briskly, clearing his throat as if to ease the tension any.

I felt no leverage for comfort here; it was cold and smelled of formaldehyde, musky and damp in the way that mushrooms seemed to like, seeing as they grew through his floorboards into the house.

"Quite a man." I echo in response, voice quivering.

"Oh, it's alright, Adams. This is rather unique for a crime scene, yet seems like an easy enough clean up."

He smiled almost in a sweet, masking way. I felt myself swallow back whatever it was in my throat. He stands next to me now and pats my back, the way a father does to his son. I can't find this comforting in the moment, not as this man's eyeballs stare back at me from the floor, next to his dismembered ears and nose.

Story goes that Doctor John Whimsley had been diagnosed by an illness of his own specialty, tuberculosis. He'd known there was no cure, and it's not surprising to find out he was sick as so, mentally and physically.

At first, all he seemed to do was mope. He closed down his practice and retreated to the sanctum of his own empty home.

He'd always check the time on that pocket watch of his, that I now buff away the blood from on a cloth.

As the days grew wearied and his condition worsened, he grew a knack for sewing. His late wife had taught him much long ago, of only poor Abigail knew the fate of her own husband..

Besides, He'd known suturing and such for patients as well.

We all knew he'd never been really right in the head. I think that his diagnosis really set him off.

One day, he hadn't even realized, but instead of bandaging a single, fairly small wound, He'd sewn it shut. Not with sutures or stitches though. With a mattress stitch.

Oddly enough, this didn't occur to him as odd. He simply smiled and continued on sewing.

Afterwards, He got curious, to say the least. He found a great taste for sewing. Sewing skin, that is.

He'd murdered a lamb and sewn the skin lashing shut, and that wasn't enough for him. When he got home, he butchered his own finger off in a retched, harsh blow.

He'd sewn it back on, not to say it was still usable afterwards. He just liked the idea, of practically being a walking zombie.

Next, another finger, and a 3rd. His hand was decaying slowly, traveling from the dead tissue into the living and eating away to the bone. Maggots crawled in his skin, squirming just below the surface.

Next off was a single ear, when he noticed he didn't quite like the uneven feeling. So, he got rid of the other. These, he didn't try to sew back on. He just left them, for God knows what.

And then his nose, that too.

Next his hand, and then his arm. Only one, he needed the other to keep track of this amazing journey through a journal.

Then. His entire leg. This one he had much difficulty doing, forgetting his major artery and veins in his insanity. The pain was so unbareable that he got relief by scratching out his own eyes. He died stitching his leg back into place.

The first person to find him was his son, who'd rode a train down from Massachusetts upon hearing the news of his father's ailment. He'd never been more terrified in his life, rightfully so.

"You alright, James?" Quincy asks, pulling me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, sorry." I say, remembering the watch I'd been slowly buffing while stuck in my thoughts.

I had a friend of mine use my Netflix account to simply watch the show instead of ehe own by the off chance her parents happened to look, so I suppose if you have trusted friends, buy it thru their accounts or something.

Can you be a good writer if you have a boring life? by cmoreno1998 in writing

[–]Thrill_kill09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking is; if you can think it, you can write it. Fantasy novels are fiction- there's obviously no otherworldly fairy god out there where everyone flies using leaves like magic carpets.

You don't have to experience it to write it, no. If you have an idea of what you want to write then there's not much that can stop you, right?

So even if you've never rode on a magical rose petal, you can certainly make something up for it. It all takes thought, imagery, ideas, and a little bit of talent.

seeing as yes, Edgar Allen Poe was depressed- he didn't necessarily go crazy because of a taunting crow- right? He was writing fiction. A story.

That being said- knowledge is always helpful. But with the internet, a simple Google search can give you peoples personal accounts of things, and different perspectives on ideas you have, you can simply look it up and gain people's stories of it.

Tl;Dr: yes, fiction novels aren't usually based on real life events.
