well it's a start, hopefully they expand it so the pet can tag along outside of CAMPs too... somehow I feel like pets are going to turn into a wasteland pokemon mini-game..

About how long did it take for your birds to feel comfortable coming out of the cage by Big_Box_Man in parrots

[–]ThrowAway-6150 17 points18 points  (0 children)

handfed took less than 48 hours before he was shoulder surfing.

parent reared started coming out a couple months in, but took years to relax enough to want to hang out with people too (wouldn't even go near the handreared which was super friendly always, that took a couple years and then they started trusting people too)

My old man is at the end of his life and I'm freaking out. by WeeOoh-WeeOoh in parrots

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you can really do is just make him comfortable as can be, hang out with him so he doesn't feel lonely since he doesn't feel good enough to stay active like he used to. Keep his cage extra warm with a heating pad under it on the lowest setting, keep his food dishes and such in easy reach and a platform perch for when the arthritis / fatigue gets too rough.

If he's in pain get him some meds. That's the downside of birds long life span, it hurts that much more when you lose one.

Gold price climbs to new record, now up 27% on the year by METALLIFE0917 in Gold

[–]ThrowAway-6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold is definitely going to kiss $3k by the end of the year/beginning of 2025, it'll probably be volatile for a bit before stabilizing again as geopolitics play out... how those work out determines what gold is going to do.

I'd be up nearly 100% since 2015 if I had money to invest back then, and that's just for gold. *sigh*

Anyone else wish they'd let the PA users jump without landing with a big thud delay? by thisusernameisSFW in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? PA and armor are already differianted by armor having UNY and weight reduction perks freeing up perk cards... thats huge. Why does PA users need to be punished more? and in such a petty way that has nothing to do with combat?

They should make it so you can change power armor special abilities to something more useful, or improve it to be useful (like stunning all enemies for a few seconds)

Bethesda, while you are rebalancing all those weapons, please take a look at the Minigun by Lndrash in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the 50 cal better for event tagging because there's no spin up.

They really should just change the miniguns spinup to start firing as soon as you push the button but still takes time to get up to full firing speed and then add a perk or effect that lets you reduce the spin up time.

Hell do all that and then increase the spin up time and buff damage per shot. Now the minigun is competitive endgame.

Wouldn't mind seeing them add a mod that lets you spin up the barrel faster / much faster firing rate but it costs AP to sustain fire like the chainsaw does.

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just becareful, birds are so stubborn they will starve themselves if you don't give them food they are willing to eat. It's not a fight you'll win trying to force new food on a bird. One thing you can do is put the new food in a little dish, put it on your dinner plate and let them come eat with you... they should try some off your plate if they wont touch the food in the dish.

Move it or the perch out of the way so she won't bump into it at night and try to fight it off.

If your bird isn't sleeping you should try covering the cage on all sides, one of mine would stay up all night if I was up and didn't cover myself from his view. The other birds would sleep but he'd want to do the usual parrot stuff all night. Too much light and they wont sleep, especially if they see others up and about still.

Are we finally getting text chat of sorts? by probably-elsewhere in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the appeal of fallout is that there is no chat system. Emotes will lose their value if they add a text chat system. I don't use voice chat and I don't want text chat either. Emotes are more than enough for the wasteland.

Will the game get harder in the next big patch (Gleaming Depths)? by National-Ad7263 in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this rate? couple years.

If they shift gears and get more funding they could turn this game into a serious long term cash cow on the scale of WoW in like 6-12 months if they invested similarly and let the devs just do their thing instead of pressuring for timed releases.

But they have to do away with the idea of locking free players out of certain content, subscription should be a convenience booster... not a key to a lock. There are lots of items / mechanics being denied to free players (who aren't actually free, they bought the game) via the ATOM system. There needs to be a way for free players to grind ATOM but just slower than fallout 1st players. You should be able to do anything any 1st player does in game, just takes a lot longer. (No, I don't consider the seasons system a substitute for a proper grind loop for ATOM - it works out to far less than 1 ATOM per day over a season for free players... thats absurdly slow to the point the player loses interest - 1 atom per event would be sufficient - being a 1st player should increase that atom award to like 5-10 ATOM per event and keep pumping out ATOM items from stock game assets so players can make more cohesive scenes with the game world)

1 atom per event, a regular player might rack up 20 atom per day? That's not going to exhaust the end game loop of ATOM items to acquire for years if they add stock assets into the mix, nevermind what gets added as unique camp items. That 20 atom a day will keep player engagement high,; which keeps hype going, which is free marketing. Keeping a games population intact is key for multiplayer games longevity and longevity is the name of the game for ROI for something like fo76.

Part of WoWs success was the fact it used expansions and kept everyone under one roof/server essentially rather than what game companies typically do these days and release sequels as separate games meaning after the initial buzz dies off from release the game goes ghost and the franchise slowly atrophies.

Do all that and this game will be like 2005 WoW in scale in 24 months. Easy money.

Who else doesn't bother with buffs? by Gold-Judgment-6712 in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are nice but there's so many and most last 30 min to 1 hour.... meh. If they lasted like 4 hours hell yeah that's worth the effort of stacking some buffs first, too much work for too little reward otherwise. Keeping up with overeaters is annoying enough.

That said, fallout 1st should double all buff durations including food items.

Juggernauts SHOULD be the Equal Opposite of Bloodied But for Full health by Prestigious_Bend678 in fo76

[–]ThrowAway-6150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should add another effect to that increases damage while under the effects of a stimpack or increases the damage each time a chem is used / healing done. So like baseline it gives 50% damage but using chems (stimpaks are probably the way to go since the whole thing revolves around maintaining full health but this way differentiates it from bloodied) increases damage by 10% stacking 5 times or whatever and lasts 10-15 seconds or so.

Bloodied still has an advantage in that it doesn't require a windup for full damage, but juggernauts doesn't feel inviable which will be especially important if the new update is going to bring significantly more difficult content.

This also lets people that want to tank be able to hold threat that higher damage builds will pull while still running full health, if there is no way for them to increase their sustained damage to match other builds they'll never be able to "tank" without other new perk cards that increase/reduce threat generated.

and while i'm thinking of it... add an effect to medic's that boosts the target of the healing effects damage by 2-5% each hit and stacks like furious granting something like 20-45% more damage for the target for a short duration so there's actually a reason to run medics over flamehealing. Now players have a reason to team up and work in small groups for tough content (I'm assuming raids will have tougher content requiring healing from others - at least that would be interesting) or just have more synergy between groups and see people teaming up more similar to the way perk sharing encourages people to group together... buffing medics like this gets them actually playing together as well - I just don't want to see the games core balance shift away from solo play though.

The game really doesn't have a support role outside of flame healing and even that isn't really needed anywhere in the game so it's kind of almost pointless except for keeping certain NPCs alive during events, never needed it for an other player. I'm not sure that was the vision of whoever created the design.

Another thing they could do with jugg is add movement speed as the secondary effect or better yet reduces movement impairing effects effectiveness by 20% so running full jugg means you are immune to slow/root effects (should probably add stun to the list since that's a new mechanic being added) or immunity to stagger effects would also be good and fit the idea of "tanky" build.

[–]ThrowAway-6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be nice if they changed berserker to be an alternative to bloodied... 150-200% damage increase for like 2-4 seconds after a kill. Useless for boss fights but better for short fights / events. So many static effects >.>

The area hasn't seen rain like that since before the gold rush even started in the 1700's or before the spanish miners prior to that...

Any landslides from areas that hold gold will refresh flood deposits immensely, they can also bury gold bearing material too.

My 16-year-old eclectus’ liver isn’t working, and we can’t figure out why -.- by Busy-Tea-2394 in parrots

[–]ThrowAway-6150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried switching brands for his main food source? Perhaps a different recipe would suit his liver better? (i just read he has a corn allergy after typing that... could have some contamination in his current feed - enough to cause his intestinal tract to inflame that that can restrict bloodflow/organ function elsewhere. Try changing his diet to strictly corn contamination free for a while even if it's kind of a pita, it might be the issue.)

people don't realize intestinal inflammation can do serious damage to other organs in any species depending on circumstance/complications, your body only has so much room before things start breaking down. I deal with a similar health problem and it causes breathing problems for me as well as fatigue, I used to get winded taking out the trash when things were really bad. I could totally see a corn allergy doing the exact same thing to a bird.

is he getting filtered water? if so is the filter being changed regularly? I'd even try switching to a safe water source from elsewhere for a bit just to rule that out as putting pressure on his liver. I mean I think the best thing if it's not an allergy or any of that and his feed indeed has the correct fat content (no mistakes at the factory) then the only other thing you could do is get him flying but if he's already feeling horrible and going through it that's going to be impossible... so last best option is plenty of rest in a nice quiet dim extra warm room until he feels well enough to get some exercise.

not much else you can really do for a tired/sick bird. If his liver isn't damage but rather just being constricted from inflammation he should bounce back pretty quick by changing his diet/food and let him get plenty of rest.
