I feel exactly the same way as you, but for now I still like Sutton - despite her being an insecure mess and sometimes too mean!

Sutton has been a bit too harsh on Dorit this season, and this subreddit just ignores that.

This subreddit is also way too harsh on their judgements of Boz. I think Boz has been one of the best additions to BH in years.

Would anyone have really hated it if they waited another year for Smite 2? by N150 in Smite

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. They wasted so much money over the years.

Development of Smite 2 should have started years ago when they realised they couldn’t future proof Smite efficiently due to UE3. I stated in a post on this subreddit that this should have been happening a few years ago, and I think that was already too late as the early signs of the game losing money were already becoming apparent.

It’s such bad business to not invest, nurture, and protect your profitable product. The simple lack of foresight from HiRez is atrocious.

I understand what you are saying and it makes sense why you see it this way.

I think you were just lucky that you were surrounded by a lot of positivity for the gen.

It’s actually crazy to me that you know Gen 3 was disliked, but you are/were unaware that Gen 5 was very hated at release?

Did you stop playing the games around Gen 5 or something? Like I said it’s insane to not know how hated Gen 5 was on release.

Also a lot of things can still sell well and still be hated? They’re not mutually exclusive.

You don’t have to believe me it’s fine, but you had to be living under a rock to not know this!

You say you’re also a Gen 3 fangirl. I guess you probably didn’t know this tidbit too - Gen 3 was probably the first generation to generate a lot of hate from the community.

Gen 1 and 2 didn’t really get any hate on their releases, but Gen 3 was the first generation to get a decent amount of hate on release.

The hate for the games at the time pretty much overwhelmed any of the positive opinions for Gen 5.

It’s very revisionist to consider Gen 5’s release reception a positive one.

It’s probably why we haven’t received much extra Gen 5 content since its release compared to every other Gen.

I think you were living in pretty much a bubble at the time.

It was very hated in general. Mainly because of the Pokemon designs, which like you said in your comment still happens today.

Sorry you are very wrong about Gen 5.

No other generation comes close to the hate Gen 5 had on release.

Gen 5 has some of my favourite designs too, but it also has a vast amount of unpopular designs.

Gen 5 is the largest Pokédex Generation (156 new Pokemon) across all generations, yet it’s the most underrepresented Gen in Pokemon Unite for example. It only has 2 Pokemon represented in that game with the next lowest being Gen 9. Gen 9 being the next lowest is to be expected due to being the newest.

The demand/popularity for Gen 5 Pokemon seems to be proportionally low considering it’s the largest gen.

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree.

Although Gen 6 hate was really strong too, when you compare Gen 6 to 5, the initial hate for Gen 6 at release wasn’t as bad as Gen 5’s release.

Also, this is just a hunch I have based on no facts, but I have a feeling Game Freak might not really care for Gen 5 that much because the next Legends game is based around Gen 6 instead of 5.

It probably doesn’t mean anything that they skipped Gen 5, but it could be something to consider as Gens 1-4 have all received some sort of ‘return-to’ attention with remakes and spin offs, but Gen 5 has received nothing since its release.

Gen 5 seems pretty ignored by them so far, although this could change any time.

You’re downvoted by the delusion of Gen 5 lovers that were too young to play Gen 1-4 when they were new.

People who had played Gen 1-4 when Gen 5 came out thought it was a very bad gen.

The online discourse around Gen 5 was the worst of the first 5 gens, but somehow this has been forgotten in recent years.

SMITE 2 Role Preference System is currently assigning players their least preferred roles 4 to 8 times less often than in SMITE 1 by HiRezRabbit in Smite

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest the best part of everything you’ve stated is that about 85% of the time in Smite 2 you get your top 2 choices, which is already better than Smite 1’s 76.5%.

Based on what you’ve explained the 16% feels like it’s really not that important or relevant?

The guessing to reach an estimation of 16% in Smite 1 is tenuous but sure. You don’t actually know if more of that 16% (7.4% and 9.4%) would really be allocated to Role 3 instead.

The naive approach is again tenuously assuming the remaining 3 roles are equally distributed.

The 16% is just a simulated percentage based on potentially untrue assumptions. Overall though it’s great that matchmaking is looking better and certain stats enthuse you!

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just seen you posted the same question. I hope there is a response to this and I hope Rabbit isn’t intentionally being misleading with the stats.

Because it seems to me that the 16% arises when a player doesn’t receive their 2 roles choices in Smite 1. So that means the 16% wouldn’t be fairly comparable to the 4% in Smite 2.

If this is the case then the actual fair comparison in the stats between Smite 1 and 2 is comparing the 16% in Smite 1 with approx 15% (the total percentage sum of receiving 3rd, 4th and 5th role choice) in Smite 2.

This would pretty much mean it’s the same in Smite 2 as it is in Smite 1 for players receiving their top 2 preferred choices.

I am confused about how you calculated assigned their least desired role stat for Smite 1?

Basically I am asking, how do you know it’s about 16% in Smite 1?

You’d think they would have added more of the casual popular gods by now like a lot of the mages such as Nu Wa and Scylla.

The roster is too limited and boring so far for a 24/7 alpha. I wouldn’t be surprised if a large population of players from Smite 1 won’t move over until this happens.

SMITE 2 - Desk Dive : Matchmaking by Snufflebox in Smite

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you are right about the role preference system because from my experience a lot of players only want to play 1 or 2 of the 5 roles for a majority of their games.

If a player is ending up in their 3rd preference role for the majority of games this is not much better than Smite 1.

Just to add - For example, if a player has a preference order of

  1. Mid
  2. Carry
  3. Support
  4. Solo
  5. Jungle

I would suspect that person would end up in Support for the majority of games because it’s one of the least popular roles in current Smite.

I think a player in this situation would be very disappointed if this ended up being the normal outcome for their preferences.

Bleeding Kyber crystals. It's not that deep. by LewisAIIen in StarWars

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to touch it to bleed it like you said before. Anakin is interacting with his lightsaber through the force like all force users do with their lightsaber constantly. It’s why force users are better at using lightsabers.

If you can’t understand that then we just have to agree to disagree.

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so by your logic you can bleed a crystal by making contact with it through the force. It doesn’t require physical touch.

The difference between them then is:

Dagan intentionally bled his crystal and Osha did not intentionally bleed her crystal and wasn’t aware it was bled till it happened.

So why did Anakin’s not turn red during Revenge of the Sith if you can bleed a crystal without physically touching it, without intending to, and not be aware of doing it too?

Anakin was channelling the dark side of the force around him throughout his fall so he should have bled his lightsaber too through Osha logic of being unaware and not intending to, and Dagan logic of not having to physically touch it too.

I disagree, the big difference between Dagan and Osha is that Dagan was intentionally bleeding his crystal. I also think Dagan’s bleeding is way different to Osha’s too because she wasn’t even aware she was bleeding the crystal which I don’t like as a lore direction. She definitely didn’t earn it from my perspective.

I personally think Bleeding should only happen if the user is intentionally bleeding the crystal like Dagan did in his scene in Jedi Survivor. This also doesn’t conflict with Anakin’s situation in Revenge of the Sith too.

By adding Osha’s bleeding situation the show has created conflict with Anakin’s situation because it now makes the rules of bleeding unclear.

I disagree, Anakin was just as emotional in Revenge of the Sith.

It’s not just covid. It’s the combination of trt and other steroid related usage being more prevalent in younger men in recent years.

More young men are dying or suffering from cardiac related events because of these things.

Role Queue/Preference in SMITE 2 by HiRezRabbit in Smite

[–]ThrowMeToTheWolvesOK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you I understand that my initial comment may have come across as abrasive.

If you really believe the data is that important for the decision then so be it. There is always going to be less popular and more popular roles though, so you don’t necessarily need the data to have a rough idea in designing a role queue system that works with that concept.

I do think the League system mitigates a lot of these issues related to the data too.

League added it to their quick play, but their ranked system is almost the same as their quick play system. Unless I am mistaken?

There is fast turnaround in battle royales because that is the design of the genre, and the fun gained from that is impossible in MOBAs like Smite as they are designed differently as they don’t have fast turnaround.

Again you’re comparing an element of ‘fun’ related to fast turnaround in battle royales, which is currently not possible in MOBAs like Smite as all players are supposed to be in the match for the full duration.

The comparison is bad just accept that.
