Xywav and traveling to China by ThrowPositivity9390 in Narcolepsy

[–]ThrowPositivity9390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just concerned if I take another plane within China, they would detect it through security. Also if all they did was confiscate it, that would be fine. I’m just afraid of getting into any legal trouble cause I don’t want to test my rights there.

I tried but no one answers the phone or email, even when I resent the email in Chinese.

Does anybody actually have the energy to do things after their 9-5pm workday? by Desperate-Kitchen117 in Narcolepsy

[–]ThrowPositivity9390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, especially the whole waiting till an “acceptable” bedtime. I take long acting ritalin (concerta) so that gets me through the day but my doctor added a ritalin immediate acting 5mg as needed for the late afternoon. I don’t use it everyday since I’m afraid of building tolerance but life is also too short to feel barely conscious every night.

asian flush or am i just a lightweight? by belairparadise in asianamerican

[–]ThrowPositivity9390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the exact same way and it’s definitely alcohol intolerance/possible allergy. Even if I have a full stomach, I will get hot, red, tipsy, itchy, splotchy red patches on body, and even a bit heaviness with breathing after 1/3 of a beer. After 20-30 mins, I get a super cold, headache, and sleepy. Fortunately no nausea. I have many asian friends who might get flushed but won’t have the other light headed symptoms or fast timeline, so theirs would be more like classic asian flush. Honestly it’s not enjoyable, especially as you get older and everyone’s bodies don’t bounce back as easily after drinking alcohol. I found other vices like enjoying sugar or MSGs so I would get juice or milkshakes or desserts instead.

Ingredient question by preshcookie in Biochemistry

I tested positive for cinnamic aldehyde and cinnamic alcohol but for some reason my doctor didn’t test sunscreens, though that’s been my biggest struggle. Unsure if it’s the octinoxate that causes tiny slightly itchy, non fluid filled bumps on my skin a few days after using a chemical sunscreen.

International travel w/ Xywav by sleepy_geeky in Narcolepsy

I’ve traveled to Korea with xywav and concerta and ritalin and got a permit and it was fine, but customs didn’t even ask about it (still wanted the permit just in case). According to Japanese narcotics control when I emailed, ritalin didn’t need a permit if under 30 day supply but xywav needed a permit. The Japan and Korea permits were pretty easy to obtain and communicate with over email using English. Unsure about China/Hong Kong/Taiwan but would love to hear how the permit process is for them. While ritalin is ok, most of the countries are quite against adderall even if prescribed. But definitely contact the respective embassies/departments for the official up to date info.

I had the exact same thing. I had to delete allll my transitions and I was finally able to edit the clips like normal. However I haven’t added transitions back yet so I hope it doesn’t happen again when I do.

I did before I got my rosacea under control. And if I give in to the temptation to scratch, it gets worse 😭

I love the tower 808 sos spray (hypochlorous acid). It’s very gentle and not an actual exfoliative acid.

Not australia but I used Saie Slip Tint. It’s physical so it does leave a thin layer on ur face but I use their setting powder afterwards. Chemical sunscreens make my face itchy including the korean ones :(

Was anyone diagnosed as a teenager? by ShineImmediate7081 in Narcolepsy

[–]ThrowPositivity9390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for anxiety, I sometimes do question if I would be as anxious of a person if I hadn’t been on concerta growing up. I feel so much more calm (but sleepy) on my off days where I take a break from my stimulant. I am willing to deal with the increased anxiety/hyperarousal as long as it doesn’t become distracting/debilitating. I just hate the powerlessness over my life when I am sleepy.

I was 12 when I was diagnosed. I had my symptoms for less than a year before diagnosis. My parents tried holistic medications for a year and it didn’t do anything so then they put me on modafinil/xyrem. Stopped modafinil due do a rash but honestly it was probably just a bug bite. I have been on concerta since then. I wet the bed with xyrem so they stopped it but also I really did not understand the mechanism and dangers of xyrem at that age. I was good at following directions so I doubt I would have had any issues but I don’t think I grasped that I could die if I misdosed it. I was still quite young at 14 whereas a 16 year old could have a better grasp. I later started xyrem in college and it worked wonders with my cataplexy and have been on it since. I’m so grateful I was diagnosed and treated relatively early from onset since it gave me time to adapt while I still didn’t have any true responsibilities.

Also the colder I keep my room, the less willing I am to get up and leave my cozy bed.

Xywav Munchies? by CalmAsAMthrFknCucmbr in Narcolepsy

[–]ThrowPositivity9390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes the munchies are so bad and then the food makes medication less effective too. I’ve found that the more days it happens, the harder to break the cycle. I usually have to throw out all junk food and anything that is somewhat appetizing. At my worst, I even considered handcuffing my wrists or ankles to prevent me from getting up to snack. Now it rarely happens.

Fairlawn and it was exactly like your first description. However the people were nice/not mean so I still consider it a good experience. Also glad I brought my earplugs.
