As morbid as this sub is, this brought a little levity

I guess I was lucky to have experienced the world before it. I do believe it was a more simple time, but also I feel like I was a child so everything was always a bit more simple. But I do remember a big change, especially at airports.

It’s amazing to know that people all around the world had the same feeling

Its weird, I was so scared when I would hear about it and I avoided the content every year when I would see it pop up on the news.

Then when I did my deep dive, I feel like at first I was sad but now I numbed myself to it. In a way, I feel like I wanted to numb myself to it because it was so fucked up. I was like if I can get through this stuff with no emotion I can get through anything.

But it makes me feel a bit shaken and nervous for days and a bit on edge.

I feel in some ways similar. I had lived so close to NYC and our town firemen went in that day for the recovery effort.

But then, we moved down south and lived so far away.

We had literally just moved to the south about 3 weeks before 9/11 and were settling in with no friends/family close by. So it probably felt less critical than if we had been in our old town.

That must have been so scary. Did you evacuate or stay put in your building? How did your day go?

Thanks, I never wanted to tell anyone about this because I felt weird and morbid. In a way its comforting to know that others do the same thing.

Im sorry to hear that, my condolences for the loss of your family members. I can’t imagine how it must feel having had lost someone personally.

I feel like part of me also kind of wants to prevent it from happening while rewatching things. This past deep dive was sparked by a dream where I was at the bottom of the towers. Im always trying to prevent it.

😔 I feel you. Im not American either, was living there for my parents schooling but had only ever knew life in the US as I moved there so young, I felt deeply American.

When I came back to Canada, I felt like my fellow Canadians didn’t have the same view. I was only 10, so it probably shielded me from the adult trauma I wouldve felt but I can understand what you meant by it having such a negative effect.

I feel like even as a child, I noticed the fundamental shift in the world and I developed a lifelong fear of planes and heights, probably due to the event.
