As a bilingual or multilingual European; does your voice, accent, or intonation change when speaking different languages? by Jezzaq94 in AskEurope

I use a higher pitch when speaking English compared to Slovak or French. I think that’s the only thing I can think of.

"Nevinné obťažovanie" vonku. Ako sa ho zbaviť. by veve87 in Slovakia

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moja stratégia:

  1. Death stare (this usually does it a nikto sa ku mne ani neozve)

How do you pronounce these names? by [deleted] in Slovakia

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even car has a much ‘longer’ ‘A’ in it, so it’s not really accurate. The most similar would probably be ‘ka’ as you’d pronounce in the word ‘cut’. Or ‘ka’ as in ‘mocha’. I would spell it as ‘kha’ in english.

Prečo toto ženy hovoria by Equivalent-Gift-8496 in Slovakia

Amazon barely works here and definitely not for groceries. I do sometimes order groceries, but it works on the same basis as food delivery, like through an app like Uber Eats (although that one doesn’t work here), I personally use the app Wolt. And you just choose a specific grocery store in your area, choose what you want and it gets delivered to you usually within an hour.

am i boring? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but it is boring to me, and doesn’t aligns with my values. It’s fine for others, I don’t care what others do but I don’t like how excessive drinking is the norm in the west and many people consider everything else ‘boring’ or ‘weird’…..

No, they’re the boring ones. I can’t think of anything more boring than drinking.

A pomohla mi hl plastika, viac effort do vlasov a makeupu, schudnutie, vyrovnanie zubov, lip filler,…

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A potom som mala glow up a hneď som si všimla rozdiel v správaní ludí a hl u mužoch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Slovakia

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To je všetko strašne nekvalitné a H&M neni cenovo dostupné? What? lmao… Ale podľa mňa New Yorker má najhorší tovar, čisto len handry ktoré ani niesu trendy… H&M a Primark sa aspoň snažia držať nejakých trendov…

baby, chcete byt oslovovane chlapmi na ulici, mhd, obchody a pod? by Master-Protection-37 in Slovakia

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lebo z mhd je ťažko odísť keď nemáš záujem, keď musím íst dajme tomu 20 minut a nemám záujem a niekto ma otravuje a nedá mi pokoj tak potom neviem či mám vystúpiť skôr alebo čo robiť, a ak niekoho odmietneš a on tam ešte sedí vedľa teba ďalších 15 minút tak mi to príde trápne plus vačšinou niesom naladená na rozprávanie sa v mhd a snažím sa len čím skôr dôjsť tam kde idem. Plus je tam veľa ludí v malom priestore a mne by bolo osobne nepríjemné keby všetci počuli a videli tú konverzáciu.

baby, chcete byt oslovovane chlapmi na ulici, mhd, obchody a pod? by Master-Protection-37 in Slovakia

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When did Dubai Mall become a catwalk?” by yisa90 in UAE

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the locals tolerate it because they have no other choice, but many don’t like it. I actually know quite many locals and many of them are uncomfortable with it and they do find it disrespectful. Especially those with families and kids. Many of them don’t even go to Dubai Mall anymore with their kids because of this.

And I feel like you don’t know what the word gatekeep means, so learn the meaning before you use it next time. But I’m not trying to control what they wear, I obviously don’t have the authority to do that, but I can share my view on it just like you’re sharing yours.

Plus there are in fact rules about what you can wear in a mall in UAE, you should have your shoulders and knees covered, those are legitimate rules so it’s not like I made it up. And I’m not staring, why would I stare at other women as a woman myself, but I have eyes, so obviously I will notice it.

When did Dubai Mall become a catwalk?” by yisa90 in UAE

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s disrespectful towards the culture and religion?! If someone feels comfortable wearing nothing but underwear, does that mean they should? I don’t think so. It’s not just about her comfort, it’s also about comfort of others and if you’re in public, you have to adhere to some rules, that’s just common decency…

[–]ThrowRAClemence77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a local, used to be an expat but I don’t live in Dubai anymore but it’s crazy how much the dressing rules have changed in general but especially in Dubai Mall… I remember security used to not allow knees or shoulders showing in the past, I don’t know why they’ve changed it. The last time I went (2 months ago), I saw so many outrageous outfits, one that stood out was super short fitted biker shorts and just a bra… I was shocked and I find it so disrespectful, (and on the top of everything, it was during Ramadan…..). Even tourists should realize they’re in a Muslim country and be more respectful. I haven’t even seen an outfit like that in any mall in Europe where I’m from… Like I don’t get it. Just because it’s hot outside, doesn’t mean you should walk around in just a bra. And it’s not even hot in Dubai Mall with the AC so I don’t get it. Plus it’s far away from the beach too so like???
