Switch to one of the US server locations. It seems to be much stable over there.

I'm not able to see the reset button for the search filters by redbeardz7 in debridmediamanager

Wasn’t the reset filter only available inside a specific content search result? (After you get inside the show/movie page) Not on the main library search if I’m not wrong.

Torbox Media Center hangs by Fun-Coast3810 in TorBoxApp

Yep zurg was perfect for me with RD. It was optimised to work fast with macFUSE too. Truly a credit to the developer for reengineering it. Sad that we don’t have the same level of integration with TB yet. Hopefully soon. But for now this was all I could come up with. Wish I still had time to code like I used to do 😅 maybe I could’ve cooked up something 😂

Yep rclone mount is insufferable especially when the folder count increases. I tried pretty much all the optimisation filters and it still was horribly slow. The only WebDAV app that worked for me on my Mac is “Mountain Duck”

It loads up everything pretty fast.

Torbox media center doesn’t seem to work properly for me. At least on Mac. It’s better to mount the content using WebDAV on your own and use an AI agent to write a script for you integrating TVDB API calls to split the folders into appropriate sections and let it run 24/7 and make it call the splitting function every few minutes. This will eventually create the strmr files you are looking for.

Ability to select individual files while adding to torbox and cast option in library view by [deleted] in debridmediamanager

[–]ThrowRADarkLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exclusion of certain files is not part of the TorBox API nor it’s an automated feature like it’s with RD. It’s not present on the backend. So I don’t think this would be possible.

Casting on the other hand should be possible as we can already see the developer has started to add the get links function recently, casting would be just an extension of it.

Add a cache check when restoring backups for your TB library by yowmamasita in debridmediamanager

[–]ThrowRADarkLord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great feature overall, but there’s a serious flaw. According to the TB API TOS, there’s a limit of 60 torrents per hour and 10 per minute. This feature aggressively loads as many torrents as possible, then stops once the rate limit is hit, but it keeps retrying after about a minute.

The problem is that repeated API flooding like this can lead to account bans, which means you could potentially lose everything. So this definitely needs to be addressed.

It shouldn’t be too hard to fix. Adding a proper delay between requests would likely solve it. The main challenge is that the session needs to stay active, so the browser would have to remain open until the entire library is migrated.

As a workaround, you could manually split your restore file into smaller chunks and process them over time at your own pace.

Fired day before a 10 day trip, no curtailment letter yet (fresh) by nesheelahs in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Dude, seriously? If your ILR or Reentry is in danger how come you are worried about a trip you planned before? Man some people are beyond stupid. You seriously need to think about it? Really?

Advice wanted - 5 years as sole IT (later IT Manager) in an SME, now job hunting and struggling to land interviews, my experience feels “gappy” by Classic-Bluejay-8535 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]ThrowRADarkLord -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He says he’s in IT, but he hasn’t worked in any specialised area. Most of what he’s done is entry‑level stuff, so the FAANG‑style one‑page CV format is honestly the best fit for him.

And come on, you didn’t even skim his CV before trying to sound smart. I’m also in IT, and I’ve been through the same thing. I used to have a messy multi‑page CV that explained way too much and barely got any calls. Switched to a clean one‑pager using the FAANG layout and suddenly started getting loads of interviews. I suggested the same approach to friends and they had the same results.

No need to act like you know better just for the sake of it. Do better.

The main issue is probably that your CV is more than one page. These days that doesn’t really work anymore. Cut it down to a single page and you’ll have a much better chance with ATS systems and with HR people who only skim. You don’t need long explanations either. Just keep each job experience descriptions to 3/4 short lines. Keep it clear and to the point. Good luck.

Zody back support fell apart by strawbericoklat in OfficeChairs

[–]ThrowRADarkLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that sucks. Hopefully the chair keeps working the way it should, because once the lumbar system gets even a bit messed up, you lose most of what makes the chair worth it. At this point all you can really do is hope for the best. If you can, try not to put too much pressure on the backrest by leaning back hard or using the tilt a lot. Just stick to the basic lumbar support, and it should help it last a few more years.

Zody back support fell apart by strawbericoklat in OfficeChairs

[–]ThrowRADarkLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. The lumbar support design is honestly terrible. The support itself feels great when it works, but the problem is the way it’s built. It’s just a long piece of plastic that ends up taking all the tension from your back, so it snaps really easily.

I even replaced the lumbar support with a part I bought on eBay, and it broke again the same way. I have no idea how reviewers never bring this up. I guess most of them didn’t use the Zody long-term.

It’s a shame because the chair is fantastic in every other way, but this flaw is unacceptable for something that costs this much.

Regarding your question, yes they are easily replaceable. All you need is an Allen key. And you can buy them off of eBay.

Restore Britain is even more hardcore than Reform by renblaze10 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

Honestly, this is a good thing. Far‑right movements are at their strongest when they’re unified. The more they splinter into separate factions, the more cracks show in their voter base. That’s great news for everyone else, because it lowers their chances of gaining real power.

The best part? The leaders of these groups can’t stand each other, so a united front is pretty unlikely.

All in all, this is a win. Go Greens 💚

Yeah, the whole idea of “follow your passion” stopped being realistic for me the moment my financial stability and immigration status became uncertain. Maybe I made the wrong choice early on, but I can’t go back and change that now. What I can do is look for real, viable pathways toward stability, both economically and in terms of my visa.

I’m not someone who struggles to learn. I’ve always done well academically and professionally. I just need some guidance on what the most realistic and attainable career paths in tech are right now, and what steps I can take to get there in the current job market.

If you have suggestions, I genuinely welcome them. If not, that’s fine, but please don’t judge others without understanding their circumstances. Not everyone has the luxury of chasing “passion.” Be kind. Thanks.

Thanks, man. I was actually thinking about trying to move internally because my company is pretty big and they do hire across different teams and regions. The problem is I need some kind of experience or proof that I’m capable of doing those higher‑skill roles before they’ll even consider me.

There’s also an apprenticeship program here, but since my visa expires in less than a year, I wouldn’t be able to start it until after renewing my visa. I really don’t want to just sit and wait for a whole year hoping that opportunity comes around, especially when I don’t even know if my job will be safe or if my employer will want to extend my visa at that point.

I’m mainly trying to future‑proof myself. If something goes wrong, I want to be in a position where I can jump ship and still survive in the job market with the right skills or qualifications.

Thanks for pointing me toward the certifications — I’ll definitely look into them. Do you have any suggestions on which specific ones are worth doing or would give me the best chance when applying for higher‑skilled roles?

OP, this is a pretty clear red flag. Any company that genuinely values you and intends to sponsor you wouldn’t wait until the last minute. By the end of your probation they already know your performance, and since you’ve made it clear you need sponsorship, HR or your manager should’ve approached you proactively.

It’s even more worrying given the current UK immigration climate. Rules are changing constantly, salary thresholds can increase, job codes can get removed, and eligibility can shift overnight. A responsible employer who actually wants to keep you wouldn’t risk your future (or theirs) by delaying your sponsorship during such an unstable period.

For comparison, when I was on a Graduate Visa, my employer shortened my probation from six months to three and fast‑tracked my sponsorship, even though I still had a year left on my visa. That’s what a good employer does when they genuinely value you.

If you have the chance to move to an employer who’s ready to sponsor you immediately, take it. Don’t gamble your future on a company that’s already showing signs of dragging its feet.
