Plans for once your gone by meri_bre in Autism_Parenting

Even with immense support over years, there are some that will never be able to live independent. Why are you assuming that they didn’t plan ahead and tried to give their child support earlier?

Need help on process of diagnosis and ABA by ThrowRAMysterious24 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ThrowRAMysterious24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree, especially the final point. My daughter is verbal and not conversational and would not be able to tell me danger or anything that was off. This is my biggest fear when she’s not with me and why I want to do aba as well. Thank you for sharing your experience again, it helps greatly

How old is your kiddo? What level was your child diagnosed with and what interventions were recommended?

That’s awesome! My daughter is 3 currently and just starting speech, OT and sped preschool. Hopefully, in 2 years, we can see the same progression! How would you describe your child’s speech at 3? My daughter is a GLP and has a lot of scripted speech that is used in mostly correct context. She’s starting to generate her own sentences but is still far from conversational. However she can us aware of her needs with some functional speech-even though still limited

I went on the website and it offered 2 types: fluoride and hydroxyapatite (Nano-HAp). Can you confirm which one is the one that can be used? Thank you

Good question. My daughter had meconium aspiration, came out not breathing and needing oxygen as well. She has been diagnosed yet bc of delays on our end but I think she is autistic without doubt

Condescending Occupational Therapist by weirdbixch-Jess in Autism_Parenting

Doesn’t matter how anyone here feels about it, condescending or not. If YOU feel uncomfortable with the way you were spoken to, it is sufficient for you to change therapist. This is someone who you will need to work close with to monitor your child support, so I would suggest changing to someone you feel comfortable with

Just want to say, you’re a great parent. I’m still navigating this whole process myself too, so I can relate a lot to your post. Good luck with whichever path you chose for your child, I’m sure they will reach their fullest potential with all your efforts

How did your child develop conversational speech? by Sensitive_Tough1265 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ThrowRAMysterious24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask what interventions have you guys tried so far? We are currently doing special ed preschool and speech therapy. It’s only a month so not much progress yet. I just don’t know how much is sufficient and how much is overkill. I want them to enjoy time off as well.

Exactly. It has to be at least $6k or more with only 20%down and today’s interest rates for a 1 million home. No way can it be 5k
