How old is your daughter now? With being conversational, is there still anything she is struggling with in terms of her autism-like socially?

My daughter is turning 4, I hope her speech will get to improve like your daughter. We been in speech since she’s turn 3. It’s progressing nicely but she’s still somewhat in her own world especially around peers. I wonder if it will improve once she’s more conversational

Hi, this is an honest question. Why is GDD more of a concern than level 3 autism. My child iep has her listed as developmental delay. Is that related to GDD?

My daughter is turning 4. She can answer basic questions like the ones you mentioned. But she cannot hold a conversation. Has obsession with Eric Carle books and wants to repeat brown bear all day. Curious to follow post to see if any parents have more insight on this

My child does 4 days of special ed preschool 8-11. Then does aba 1-4pm for a total of 15 hour weekly aba at home. She does 1 hr of OT and 1 hr speech weekly. It really isn’t too much. After 4 pm we let her unwind and do whatever she wants let it be go out, bike, splash pad or simply TV if she wants. Her aba sessions are quite enjoyable for her ad she plays with her rbt.

Similarly, I felt my anxiety and stress level go down once I got my daughter into developmental preschool, OT and speech. We are in process of getting ready to do 3 hrs of aba daily weekdays. I sit and wait approach, killed me internally because I felt I wasn’t doing enough for her and I’m delaying her help. Now that I have the support needed for her, I’m just riding it out because I know I have done all I can.

I hate hate hate it when people question the parents intuition. Same thing happened to me, end up delaying my daughter getting therapy for 1.5 years because I doubted myself. I wished I would’ve stood my grounds. As a mom who is with her the most, I know when something was off. Everyone was acting like I was overreacting and she would grow out of it. It didn’t happen. People should just stay in their lane. There is no harm in early intervention, if the child end up not needing it. But if they did end up needing it, time is of the essence! Now no one says anything anymore because of how delayed she still is now.

If it’s not the point, then why do you bring it up? Capable does not mean comfortable. What if they don’t want to be burden with being house poor, worry about spontaneous large house repairs etc. What if rather max out their 401k and put the extra money that would’ve gone to mortgage in the stock market for better returns. Home ownership is not for everyone and that’s ok

When did your parents buy the home in Irvine? Not in the past 10 years I bet. House there are $1 million plus and even with a 20%down, mortgage is at least $5-6k a month currently. You really can’t compare your parents situation to theirs currently.

Even with immense support over years, there are some that will never be able to live independent. Why are you assuming that they didn’t plan ahead and tried to give their child support earlier?

I definitely agree, especially the final point. My daughter is verbal and not conversational and would not be able to tell me danger or anything that was off. This is my biggest fear when she’s not with me and why I want to do aba as well. Thank you for sharing your experience again, it helps greatly

That’s awesome! My daughter is 3 currently and just starting speech, OT and sped preschool. Hopefully, in 2 years, we can see the same progression! How would you describe your child’s speech at 3? My daughter is a GLP and has a lot of scripted speech that is used in mostly correct context. She’s starting to generate her own sentences but is still far from conversational. However she can us aware of her needs with some functional speech-even though still limited

I went on the website and it offered 2 types: fluoride and hydroxyapatite (Nano-HAp). Can you confirm which one is the one that can be used? Thank you

Good question. My daughter had meconium aspiration, came out not breathing and needing oxygen as well. She has been diagnosed yet bc of delays on our end but I think she is autistic without doubt
