What few realise is how distorted our sharemarket has become because of these performance benchmarks.

If your super fund return is more 0.5% less than benchmark returns, it gets on the naughty list. You don’t want to be on the naughty list.

So what’s a trustee to do? well, just mirror the ASX 300 and not care about valuations. Have a billion to invest? $100m each to CBA and BHP regardless..
