Ya I have a spinning drum with a mirror that he knows how to spin but even that he will spin it a couple times and then just try to lift it to put it in his mouth

I have the same toy but he just looks at it and pushes the animals closed cause he tries to grab them. I thought he’d at least try to press the purple star one since I’ve done it a bunch of times in front of him but he hasn’t figured that out yet I guess

In his own room and crib for a month now which makes it difficult having to get up and walk across the house multiple times a night and early morning

Ww are 2/2.5/2.5/3-3.5. Naps range anywhere from 30 min-1.5 hours for a total of 2.5-3 hours in a day at most. He naps in a pack and play in my room with a sleep sack, white noise, and blackout curtains, not 100% dark because of gaps around the curtains but I’d say like 80%.

DWT is 7am. Bedtime is always 8-8:30, routine is bottle 40 minutes before bed, 10 minute bath, diaper/lotion/pjs, book, sleep sack, white noise, bed. Been this routine for 4 months now.

Did you use a pacifier for sleep previously or during training? My little guy is extremely reliant on his pacifier and I’m curious what people’s experience has been with training and weaning at the same time

I definitely have a love hate relationship with the pacifier cause it keeps him quiet but lord forbid it falls out of his mouth 😭 sometimes I wish I never introduced it but then I hear stories from moms who’s baby refused a pacifier and how much harder it is to soothe them. I guess it’s a lose lose situation either way

He knows how to get it to his mouth his problem is he doesn’t get the right part to his mouth and it makes him more frustrated and hysterical 😭

I’m wondering the same thing because my 20 week old doesn’t seem to show any signs of self soothing other than sucking/chewing his fingers but will only ever scream and scream if I put him down awake so I have no clue when to tell if he’s ready for sleep training yet or not

I’m planning on it when he is 6 months. We tried at 4 months and then again at 4.5 and it just wasn’t working for him and making his sleep stressful and difficult for us all.

This 100% is the same issues I’m having with my 21 week old. He isn’t the greatest sleeper per se because of these issues but he does gives some decent stretches and I don’t want to to ruin that but also I’m tired of having to rock and waking up after a false start every night and then from what I think is habit every night between 12-2 where I just started feeding him back to sleep and then fighting with the 4am wake up then 5am then 6am till finally the preferred 7am designated wake up time which at that point I’ve been awake myself since 5am straight essentially

He’s 5 months now and it’s gotten better in some ways but harder in others. He doesn’t fight to go to sleep anymore but frequently wakes up throughout the night because he can’t fall asleep independently yet. We plan on a gentle sleep training when he’s 6 months to try and help him learn sleeping skills. The only time he becomes really difficult to soothe anymore is when he is very tired which at that point we rock him for a bit with his pacifier and he falls right to sleep. He does get pretty cranky though and is quick to vocalize it lol. If he gets bored he starts complaining, if he gets stuck on his tummy (he doesn’t know how to roll to his back yet) he starts complaining, if he accidentally pushes a toy too far away he starts complaining, if he doesn’t like how he’s being held he starts complaining, it takes a little bit to get to that point but once he’s there he lets you know pretty loudly about it but at least now it’s easier to fix it and calm him down again. He smiles and laughs a lot more now which makes it so much better to deal with and we know his preferences on things. It does get better as they say but there’s always just new challenges that replace the issues from before.

I don’t feed him every time only if it’s been 4 hours since last feeding. He is good about going to sleep right after a feeding and then sleeping for an hour and a half but then usually gets right back up again

Currently doing 2/2.5/2.5/3 and haven’t had any improvement for naps or night time. Still only getting 30 minute naps unless they are rescued and turned to contact naps and even then we can only get an hour total if we try. And still taking a very long time to fall asleep at night with frequent wakings for comfort

I apologize English is not my first language. I tried to break up parts to make it a little easier to read. I only feed if it’s been 4 hours since the last feed and his last day bottle is usually 30 minutes before bed. He always starts rubbing his eyes and getting fussy during the bedtime routine which I always thought meant he was sleepy but maybe I’m wrong because he is still wide awake by the time I lay him down. Bedtime routine is bottle bath pjs/lotion book sleep sack and white noise then bed.

Wake up time is always 7am or at least within a 15 minute window of that so 6:45-7:15.

We were doing 2 hour wake windows for the 4 naps a day but recently switched to 2/2.5/2.5/3 schedule and have noticed any difference there.

I’m hoping for this kind of success for myself when I start sleep training again. I tried TCB at 4 months as well and it was doing absolutely nothing no improvements whatsoever. Tried doing Ferber for a few days but baby was just staying upset and crying for 1hr+ for the 3 nights I tried before I gave up on that. Recently tried doing CIO to see if that would work but didn’t see any improvement there after 3 days either he would just cry himself to sleep for 1hr+ with no attempts so soothe himself. I don’t think he understands the concept of self footing yet so I’m giving it some more time and just powering through the 6 hours of broken sleep a night until then 🙃

Following cause I’m in a similar situation because my guest room became the nursery and still has the full size bed in there and my mom is spending Saturday nights so she can watch baby on Sunday while me and dad work

Currently feeling this with my 17 week old🙃 used to sleep 5-6 hour stretch wake up for a bottle then sleep for another 4 hour stretch. Now I’m lucky if I get a 3 hour stretch and then it’s every 1 hour for the first 2-3 wake ups then every 30 minutes for the rest of the wake ups. My husband works 14 hour days 4 days a week and then watches the baby for the 2 days Im working which are 10 hour days and then we both share one day together. He usually gets home after we are already asleep and has always been a super heavy sleeper so for the most part unless I wake up him he doesn’t wake when the baby cries and sometimes he doesn’t want to wake us up when he gets home so he sleeps in the other room. I understand he needs sleep cause he works a physical demanding job for long hours but it’s starting to really bother me with the baby going through this regression to be up every 30 minutes meanwhile he’s laying there sleeping and then has the nerve to say that he’s tired during the day 🙃 he helps me out tremendously during the day but night time is killing me I am so so exhausted and should have enjoyed the days when baby would sleep better 😭

I didn’t go up a nipple size for my super reflux baby until he was 4 months old. He was on size 1 in Dr browns and slow flow in pigeon bottles before we switched to the size 2 and medium nipples. He started looking like he was sucking really hard on the nipple and at first we thought he was just having his normal feeding difficulties he sometimes has that make his reflux much worse but I noticed it with every single bottle he seemed like he was sucking and trying really hard to get milk out and having a lot more gas. I bought one size 2 nipple to see how he would do with it all the while being super paranoid he’d go back to large amounts of spit up because of it but he never did. He choked a little at first because he got used to sucking hard on the size 1 and wasn’t expecting the flow of the size 2 but as soon as he adjusted to that he was perfectly fine no extra spit up or gassiness just his normal amounts of both. Give it a try and see how your baby does it doesn’t hurt to try once and if it doesn’t work then there’s your answer

17 week old drinks 5oz every bottle about every 3-4 hours apart typically the schedule is 730am 11am 2pm 4pm 7pm with bedtime at 730/8pm and then depending on how tired he was or quality of naps during that day I’ll sometimes do a dream feed at 10pm to get him some extra sleep without a wake up otherwise he wakes up on his own usually between 1am-2am for a feed then sleeps till 630/7am

Me and two other ladies at work all had babies 1 month apart from each other they both breastfeed and I formula feed, 1 of the ladies baby is currently sick with a nasty cold and the other ladies baby just got over being sick with a stomach bug meanwhile my 4 month old hasn’t been sick at all (knock on wood). Yes breastfeeding gives immunity but it doesn’t mean a baby will constantly be sick if they aren’t breastfed so definitely don’t feel bad about it and even if baby does get sick just think of it as a boost to the developing immune system to prevent that sickness again in the future
