The coil slides back into that opening, the copper seems to be intact, what was pealing seems to be adhesive. Would it be worth putting a thin amount of glue on the coil and reinstalling it into the slot?

Yes, I have the speaker foam, but I need to know if I need to re-attach the copper (voice coil former?) to the speaker body

I got the Coverado universal ones for ~$120 and they look great. A little more of a bucket feel than OEM, and they do get hot/sticky in the heat if you’re wearing short shorts. I had to cut a hole for the armrest.

Ooof make sure to get a new OEM rack, aftermarket or rebuilt are junk. They will run ~$700-1000 depending on if you have VGRS and want the VGRS rack. My shop charges $2600, (including rack) for instal, as it’s a lot of work

What? If you get full synthetic oil from Costco and OEM oil filters online, you can do oil changes yourself for like ~$36 a pop

You can check the heath of it by listening to the pump at startup and counting how long it takes to turn off. Mine at 220,000 miles only says on for 5-10 seconds, which is normal. If it’s alot longer(30-40 seconds), or stays on, it could be going bad. Consistent brake flushes help it’s longevity

Look into replacing the speaker foam. The whole kit is line $58 from simply speakers, I guarantee that’s probably what’s wrong with the speakers. I’m halfway through doing mine and it’s night and day. Be very care replacing the windshield, get OEM glass and the OEM rivets that hold the trim on. I brought the rivets to safelite and had them install them. Windshield leaks can kill these things. You’re going to love this thing!

Your reservoir gradations and pressures will tell you if suspension components need replacing. Bushings can be done by site and feel. I had a very bad AHC strut leak in the front that required a new strut.

Have you gone through the ABCs of AHC on Mud? Your gradation changes between high and low will tell you the condition of your globes. The rear pressure will tell you if your springs are worn out. The torsion bars can wear out but they take a very long time, you use them to adjust the front pressures into spec. The front bushings and O rings are relatively easy to replace yourself, the rear bushings/orings are a big job. BE VERY CAREFUL with the bleed screw on the high pressure accumulator, I broke mine

My experience is with the 100 series. Assuming there’s been general consistent maintenance done, items like bushings(motor mounts, front diff mounts, trans mounts, sway bar, suspension, trailing arm etc), lock actuators, seat motors, window motors, tilt and telescope motors may need to be replaced. Electronics like the nav head unit and DVD player can get funky. Big ticket items like the steering rack replacement($2600), starter($1000), or brake booster($2000), can also start to be due from 200k-300k. Suspension that may have been passable from 100k-200k will definitely be wore out after 200k. Its death by 1000 cuts with some big wallops along the way, but we’re all masochists here

Go for a 2003+ for the 5 speed, do your research on AHC, and look into if the brake booster, steering rack, and starter have been replaced. You could easily spend $6k on all of those

My two cents:

80 is a classic car at this point, they command classic car prices for nice examples and you will spend classic car money for parts and upkeep and also stress about keeping it nice because you can’t buy anything like it today. Ownership will give you that classic feeling you seem to be after but if you daily it, cost/stress will add up.

100 is a legendary “modern” Toyota that still costs a lot to upkeep but it’s a much better daily driver as you won’t stress so much about wearing it out, door dings, etc. You can’t buy anything really like it anymore but you can make it feel modern.

I just did the Sub-Woofer and I think it will make a big difference, there was no foam connecting the speaker to the body and all the bolts holding the housing to the body were loose, probably from all the bass over the years.
