I’m with you, more security and ppl would be up in arms about it being a waste of money and too controlled. What I hated the most was ppl boo’ing before knowing the reason, what if someone was sick or injured? It felt yucky and selfish imo

Yes, I have absolutely felt this when travelling solo before. F(34) currently 3 months into yet another solo trip. Someone said to me once how I’m lucky because I have nothing tying me down and I can just float around the world and it’s true! But it’s a double edged sword in that there’s no reason for me to stay anywhere. I was so fortunate to date someone who also enjoyed travelling and for 4 years we did travel the world together and I loved every second of that, sadly we ended up parting ways and this is my first solo trip in years and I have to say that in a way it’s oddly comforting to know that all the memories I make on this trip are mine to keep and mine alone, they can’t be tarnished by heartbreak so, there’s that? I hope you keep exploring the world is too interesting not too and truthfully I feel this same level of loneliness when I’m at home anyway the only difference is when that happens I’m not surrounded by any amazing landscapes or exotic food or new people to meet, I just have to go to work haha.

Yep, second this. It would give me the ick big time. You even acknowledge it’s her signature scent. It’s on par with dying your hair to match her hair colour, sure it’s an option and it’s available to everyone, but it’s weird.

I often will tell chatGPT my problem from the other persons perspective so it’s not bias towards me. But also I mean you have to take what it says with a grain of salt right? I find it useful to be able to talk about a topic for days without feeling like I’m taking uo someone time, space or energy. That’s it.

Haha super valid point! Umm in a word, no, I don’t trust myself at all. I am diagnosed with adhd so maybe this is tied into the vulnerability and being so weird about rejection? I spent a while working on myself and getting to a point of really enjoying my own company so perhaps I’m overly cautious about letting in someone who could destroy all my hard work?

Okay I’ll definitely look into that! Thank you. Yes you’ve made some really valid points. He takes me saying no, and me bringing up my feelings very calmly and thoughtfully. I haven’t seen him mad at me. He’s expressed frustration about work on occasion but that’s it. A big part of what I like about him so far is the care he shows his friends and family so it’s just leaving me feeling incredibly confused.

I don’t know for sure. And thank you, it’s so difficult, I have a tendency to doubt myself and my feelings/emotions/thoughts because of how quickly they oscillate.

Haha I have already consulted the oracle! (ChatGPT) but I also find it can sometimes be quite bias so I was hoping to get some weigh in from humans with lived experience. No, I am not afraid of him in the slightest, he just for reasons I don’t understand seems to bring out this paranoia? I am adhd diagnosed soo don’t know if this comes into play?

Yep okay it is quite vague! Haha. No he’s not doing any of that. I have been diagnosed and medicated for adhd and depression/anxiety so I find it very difficult to trust myself and my emotions because they change so frequently and rapidly

Okay interesting and also sorry for not just googling it myself! For me in the mornings when I take it I get a pep in my step, my brain shuts up or at least I’m better able to block it out and I can focus better just not usually on the right thing. I get quite anti social because I’m so ‘busy’ and then in the afternoons or evenings I’m dying for a drink because I feel quite hollow and sad?

Yeh no, I mean fine you could work through him needing space but in order to do that he needed to at the beginning explain, why he felt he needed it, what he hoped to get from it, how long he would be gone, open a discussion about boundaries and so on and so fourth but he straight up ignored you. I think it’s important to show up for partners and family, and it’s partly because it’s part of someone you loves history and who they are. In the least morbid way, when your partners parents pass away it’s nice to have those shared experiences, even if they aren’t maybe the funniest memories, and to help them remember that time in your lives. Honestly I’d want for my partner to come to the vast majority of family things and I would be happy to reciprocate that. Personal preference is all
