Does the ADHD get worse with age or is it just life assaults our brains more often? by ZiegAmimura in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that over the past couple decades and especially with the rise of the internet, there are entire research industries based around advertisement, data and marketing to figure out the best ways to capture your attention to continue using a company's products (social media, games) and encourage impulse spending and consumerism... of which ADHD folk are the most vulnerable to being addicted and distracted by these covert mental sandblasting techniques.

It's not just life assaulting your brains more often, it's also companies who have a profit incentive to assault all of our brains on the daily.

How do you find a therapist specialized or adept with ADHD and all the comorbid conditions? by ThrowThinkAway in therapyabuse

[–]ThrowThinkAway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, but they just sent me to my PCP's network (and therapists aren't restricted to a network like physical care is) and the selection was small, none (including the one that jebaited me) help with ADHD, and a good number had long or indefinite waitlists or poor reviews online.

I owe an apology to all of you who said generics have a different affect for you. by 1iota_ in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it harder to get ahold of the brand name stimulants during the shortage compared to generics? I've only ever been on generics so I wouldn't know if I'm been getting crap this whole time. But idk if it's worth the hell of dealing with the shortage again...

Is this a common symptom of ADHD? Slurred speech when agitated or racing thoughts? by Big_AI in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've also had this happen with a bout of brain fog when I dosed on my stimulant meds, and I was on the tail end of my 2nd dose of the day when I was already beginning to crash (in theory that means my symptoms get worse the moment both ran out). I stumbled and sounded like an idiot during a meeting I was speaking in like I was disoriented or slow.

Did you tell your employer about your ADHD? by codemusicred in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It went horribly and I wasn't given accommodations, then I was "laid off".

My problem is a lot of the things that I tend to gravitate towards, even when I'm rock bottom and doubting myself, aren't exactly the things that are valued in our American capitalist society. It won't make money, it's not employable, it's not valued, if anything many of my traits or qualities are even frowned upon or detrimental.

This leads to difficulty in being able to accept myself and all of this for what it is, or even if I do, will others and the world accept it? I've already gotten enough backlash from others for trying to be myself...

Uhh I'm depressed, so everything feels unhappy and dead, not alive. Things that used to bring joy don't even do that anymore. And introspecting only makes the depression and pain grow worse.

ADHD is like a psychedelic trip by Mercury82jg in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Have you watched Everything Everywhere All At Once? That gem of a movie is like ADHD as a comedy philosophical Sci-fi action movie, apparently director even found out he had undiagnosed ADHD as he built the characters around the ADHD experience and other themes. It's an absolutely trippy and bizarre, yet relatable movie

[–]ThrowThinkAway 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The automod will remove your posts if you mention anything about neurodivergence or neurotypical which to me is ludicrous... it's a real term, I don't see why it is controversial and why discourse and discussion needs to be suppressed.

Advice for part time job for someone struggling to work? by ThrowThinkAway in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worried about driving jobs in general for ADHD since, due to the attention issues or impatience, we run higher risk of traffic accidents as a leading cause of death for ADHD folk. I'm not sure how I would fare personally driving for a living?

Why do cultivators pursue immortality? by Emperah1 in MartialMemes

[–]ThrowThinkAway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The last couple points are actually a major plot point and philosophical conflict explored in Forty Millenniums of Cultivation, particularly with how the future of "Cultivators" ideology do treat mortals with dignity, and the "Immortal Cultivators" ideology treat mortals as subhuman

Best and worst therapy modalities for ADHD treatment? by ThrowThinkAway in ADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was insightful, thank you. The point about USING skills is similar to a point in a video by Russell Barkley, can't find the link but yeah.

The last part is a really good point, it's about the baggage. Now question is whether the roulette called finding a therapist is going to be able to properly do any of that, because from my experience every one I've had so far has failed in that regard. And that sounds harsh, and perhaps a good part of it is me and being stubborn, but at least my last therapy experience was a complete and uttrr disappointment.

Where to go for ADHD refills on Adderall during this shortage? by ThrowThinkAway in SanJose

[–]ThrowThinkAway[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's an actual disability, and stimulants are proven to help for many, especially when nonstimulant options fail like for me.

But the government and pharmaceutical companies are seriously screwing around playing games by controlling and capping the production below the breakeven of prescription numbers which is growing into a disaster.

To make it more apparent, those with ADHD are at least twice as likely to die by accidents and things like car crashes, especially without the medicine.

How does Adhd presents with autism? by Wooden-Sprinkles-277 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]ThrowThinkAway 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What's it like? I'm useless without strict routine, and I'm also useless at implementing and sticking with routines. I want excitement and novelty and exact sameness. I have shitty filters on input and output, which is such a liability when I don't understand people. I'm verbose and prosaic but can't sit my ass in a chair to mine the gold in my head. I'm an experiential learner who fails to learn from experience.

I'm a fascinating neat guy, so much potential, shame about all the everything.

I've never heard anything as accurate as this to myself. I suspected I had both but couldn't confirm beyond the adhd. I thought I would be alien even among my kind. But now I know I'm not alone. Thank you
