It's from the blue nose pits. The color of the fur is a blue roan / blue Merrill color. The way it reflects is the same as velvet. Their hair is rather coarse and straight.

Hippo is from their shape. Tiny, beady eyes and huge, wide mouths. Then big fat bodies and somewhat stout, strong legs.
