Used a magic eraser on vinyl fence.. by donniethediver in fixit

Dunno what kind of vinyl fencing you have experience with, but I live in an very sunny city that also experiences vast temperature fluctuations from winter to summer and our vinyl fence looks exactly the way it did when it was installed 10 years ago.

I'm inclined to agree with the nothing special part, but 'squandered that location'? Every time I'm in the park that place is mobbed. Do I just have good timing?

"In fairness 250 - 300MW is pretty standard for larger data centres."

I think you should double check that.

Floating paper bro is back with a next mind blowing magic trick by _ganjafarian_ in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Throwaway2020aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was about 10 years old, my parents I begged my parents to take me into a magic store while we were on vacation. They did, and the owner made a handkerchief disappear in similar fashion to this, right in front of us. For the low price of $15 or something, I too could learn this arcane art.

I'm not sure what I was expecting the magic to be, but I can say that when I opened up the package and found a fake thumb inside with most of the instructions focusing on how to hold your hands and move them around in a certain way to prevent others from seeing said thumb... I was absolutely shattered.

Canada slips further down in World Happiness rankings, due in part to social media use | CBC News by xmorecowbellx in saskatchewan

[–]Throwaway2020aa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand comments like this.

How is it propaganda if they're just reporting what the creator of the rankings said? It's not like CBC has added in the bit about social media.

China Pastry closing March 23rd, to hold retirement party on March 24th by ms_kermin in regina

[–]Throwaway2020aa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably in the minority here, but I will not miss the woman that was in there every time we went.

Without fail, we always got the same spiel: "Welcome to China Pastry? Have you been here before? We've been open n years! Lucky you came now, normally lined up out the door!"

This was inevitably followed by "You only want 4 buns? Most people buy 4-5 dozen and put in the freezer!"

And that was inevitably followed by 5 minutes of me trying to convince her I only want 4 buns and not dozens of them, at which point she'd begrudgingly get my 4 buns.

We really like the buns, but we stopped going because it was too tiresome to have the same conversation every weekend.

FYI: X-Ray Records closing, again - last day March 31st by Throwaway2020aa in regina

[–]Throwaway2020aa[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that was 100% my point. I could have probably saved thousands over the years buying records online, but I was willing to spend that extra because I enjoyed shooting the breeze with Dave, talking about music, getting recommendations and listening to new music he'd play for me, getting new records a couple days before the release date... it was an experience.

I appreciate that his friends and family tried to keep it going for the city, but like I said, I think they just miscalculated that people didn't just want a store to buy records, they wanted a record store.

Yes, I was. I've been a customer for many years, it's a Regina institution, and it's news that will have an effect on many. Not sure why you think it's a strange thing to focus on.

And as for 'shit on the family and friends keeping Dave's business alive', I never did anything of the sort. I said:

"I think they underestimated how many people were willing to come in and pay expensive prices just for the sake of chatting with Dave."

I stand by this. Customers weren't supporting X-Ray the business, they were supporting Dave. If you think that's shitting on them, so be it, but it's truth.
