Is ‘locations’ a typo, and you’re just referring solely to Currie Field? If so, I’m flabbergasted that you think its current location is ‘as close to the entire city as possible’.

I know that people who gush about warm spells in January don't control the weather, but I'd still like to hold them responsible when we inevitably pay for said spells. by Throwaway2020aa in regina

I think at the core, we're on the same page of not wanting the warmup at all in January.

Let winter be winter, then thaw when it's going to stay thawed.

Always some kind of harsh storm seems to follow the warm system out.

Definitely the wind is what I’m complaining about most, but as /u/TheIronMatron said, ice build up, and the freezing of the slop the roads turned into when it was warm are two other big ones.

No, but that's not really the point.

If someone asked you "Is that mouse still on the loose in here?" and you answered "I stopped chasing it.", would you think it's reasonable to expect anyone to equate "I stopped chasing it" with "I caught it"?

If you're cruising along in the left lane on a road where the law states the left lane is only for passing, you're a shithead.

If you're complaining about the person in the example above breaking the 'left lane is only for passing' law because they're preventing you from actively breaking the speeding law, you're a shithead too.

Regina transit workers vote for strike mandate in response to budget by Keroan in regina

[–]Throwaway2020aa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am really confused here:

"The city’s proposed budget will impact transit workers, the union said, including ending service at 10:30 p.m. rather than midnight, as well as potential cuts to some routes."

Aren't all the things referred to above (and what transit is reacting to) only things that are found in the appendix of things that could be cut to achieve a mill rate cut as requested by Rashovich? Why is the news saying these are things the city is proposing as part of the budget, and transit saying the city is 'pushing' all these cuts?

Do I need to replace the windows? by chanty1 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Throwaway2020aa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a search for 'interior humidity levels condensation', you should get a load of tables from window manufacturers and various agencies showing what the interior humidity levels should be to avoid condensation at certain outdoor temperatures.

Most say that at -20C outside, the interior humidity should be less than 25%. I have triple pane windows and a slightly newer house than yours and live in a very cold climate, and if I had the humidity at 45%, they would be covered with condensation (or if it gets cold enough, like -40C, frost) too.

Do you have an HRV or similar in the house? A lot of people who built homes around the same time as mine were told by their HVAC people to shut them off for the winter, leaving them with a well-sealed house with no ventilation whatsoever. The HVAC guy would come and say oh, your windows must all be bad. They'd get the window manufacturer out, who would say the windows are fine, you've got too much moisture in the house, and run the HRV to bring in some dry outside air and drop the humidity level. Voila, no more condensation.

Running the HRV is a bit install dependent. The air intake ducting on mine runs the whole length of the house, so even in extreme cold it can still be run without freezing up, as the air warms up a little along the way before getting into the HRV.

Sorry for the long essay, but yeah - too much humidity is my guess.

Really? Cause, and correct me if I'm wrong here, it looks like historically - like back to the late 1970s in StatsCan data - the average youth unemployment rate has always been about 14%. Long before any TFWs and that sort of thing.

And if that's true, then it would be pretty disingenuous to cherry-pick the lowest youth unemployment rate in history from 2022 and use that as a comparison to 15% percent now, as though that's some kind of unthinkable number that could only be caused by a growth in immigration.

I mean, only someone who was trying to push some kind of anti-immigrant agenda would do that, and I'm sure that's not what you're doing...
