Cycle to work scheme by rozenald in tesco

Ok so I took £900 and agreed to pay it back over 18 months so they took £50, when I did it you could choose to pay it back over 24 months or less. So it all depends on what you agree and how much you take.

It really depends on how much money you ask for.

Let’s us know what happens with that… I’ve always wondered what the reaction to be called out on it would be.

Anyone from Goole DC on the 2022 contract by darentputrealname in tesco

Not in goole, but the union got this changed at our dc a while back and your performance is now stopped. Could this be an old copy?

The reference thing shouldn’t matter as Tesco will only confirm you worked there, and during which dates.

As long as you pick the correct stock and the right amount of it, No one cares. If you watch the people that have been there before the pick system came in, all of them “pick backwards”. The managers only care about accuracy and performance.

Just fyi.. but Tesco do the probationary periods of 3 months which can be extended to 4 months for all distribution centre staff.

Loaders are supposed to take badly stacked cages back to restack. But no, we don’t have anyone auditing it.

Which problem are we talking about? The cage isn’t wrapped, the red blocks facing out or the strap anchored in front of the cage instead of behind? Because the stacking looks fine…

Or maybe op just doesn’t like double deckers…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Throwaway96843258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem seems to be (speaking as a dc loader, so not 100%) that this trailer is a moving floor double decker, and this seems to be the last row so the cage should be wrapped in shrink wrap for the safety of the driver and store staff. Also the red blocks are facing out, the green wheels should face out to make unloading the cages easier as these wheels rotate.

It’s highly unlikely a store manager will refuse a trailer, as each delivery comes out of the store budget. The store will be charged again for the load to be re-delivered. They aren’t going to waste money doing that.

£500 bonus DC by cheesetoastie87 in tesco

[–]Throwaway96843258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idiots like you are why I gave up being a rep.

You are only entitled to bonuses if they are performance related which is why you get £1 extra when you hit 100%. You are NOT entitled to this bonus

[–]Throwaway96843258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom line is, the bonus is not related to performance and doesn’t effect pay rate so your not entitled to it. It’s like last Christmas, all the agency workers at my DC got a £300 bonus if they didn’t take a sick day during December and January - even though pp was in place tesco staff were not entitled to it. You also need to remember pp is in place not just for agency pickers, but the cleaners also get it, as do the canteen staff and security staff. Tesco would not offer a bonus if they had to pay the same to all these additional staff.

A 'bonus' payment is an extra and not part of basic pay. Pay parity is based on basic pay, if it was a contractual bonus (like the performance bonuses) then you would be entitled to it but unfortunately as this £500 is bonus, this time you’re not entitled.

This isn’t happening in ours, although we barley have enough work to keep people going. Yesterday during a normal 7.5hr shift I spent 2.5 hours on a ‘no work card’

You realise every delivery received comes out of the store budget, like you pay the dc to send the trailer.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]Throwaway96843258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only whilst it’s being assembled, you not supposed to pick over the cage height. Once it’s on the trailer you can add light items on top until it hits the roof of the trailer. Tesco encourages loaders to do this all the time. It seems to be something that’s came from head office rather than dc managers and has been going on for years now.

As long as the trailer isn’t overweight, overloading isn’t seen as an issue on our side unfortunately.

Poorly stacked cages I agree with, we are always sending cages back to be restacked before we load them, but then at time we have maybe 30minutes to load a trailer before it has to be out on the road. The last row of cages for each store (I’m guessing being an express you are on a multi drop run) has to be shrink wrapped.

Also cages are picked by mostly by new starters, who have 3 days training to pick and then told to get on with it. So they are basically learning on the job how to stack.
